Starting point is 00:00:04 Getting back into the Christmas spirit because of course, this time of the year, a lot of the Christmas anthems just make a resurgence on the charts. And as far as Bobby Helms, jingle bell rock, it is no different. As this particular track came out in 1957. Now, of course, whenever you make a classic such as jingle bell rock, you can already understand how. Every single time November, December comes around, people would be playing this song over and over and over, especially at holiday functions. Right. But for specifically Bobby in this track, not only is jingle bell rock, the third most played track in the world, but it's also, well, Bobby also has the 42nd most listened to album in the world as far as a Bobby Helms Christmas, which is the title of the album. Now, let me just tell you something.
Starting point is 00:01:05 This particular track came out in 1957. As far as longevity and an iconic track, safe to say that this crosses all of the boxes that you could cross off, this particular track does that. As when you come to Jingle Bell Rock originally coming out in 1957, it peaked at, number six on the Billboard Hot 100 of that year. And then after that, of course, everybody recognized it being such a classic track to the point where it re-entered Hot Billboard Hot 100 multiple times.
Starting point is 00:01:49 1958 when it originally, well, 1957 is when it came out, but as far as entering the charts, it entered the charts originally in 1958, came back in 1960, 1962 1996 don't ask me why there's a gap between these years i'm just reading off the numbers right 2016 2017 2019 and then of course peak the number three in january 2020 and then fast forward to 2024 it is the third most play track in the world with the album of bobby helms christmas
Starting point is 00:02:25 being the 42nd most play album in the world so one of the things that i noticed as far as all of these different Christmas tracks, she's going crazy on the charts. And of course, once again, UMG being the big dog in the music industry. With 75% of the music market share taken up currently, in the month of December, UMG has 75% of the entire music market share when it comes to what music is impacting the masses. they have Taylor Swift Kendrick Lamar Wicked
Starting point is 00:03:05 The Wicked soundtrack I think that's like a whole movie in it So they got They have that under Universal Juice Swirls under Universal Sabrina Carpenter Billy Eilish And then of course you get to the Christmas
Starting point is 00:03:18 tracks such as the Bing Crossby Ultimate Christmas album Then you have Chappelle Rowan And then of course Tyler the Creative Rounds off the top 10 but he's not on UMG just wanted to read him out because of course UMG has one two three four five six seven eight of the top ten albums in the world and of course when it comes
Starting point is 00:03:41 to the tracks maria carries all i want for christmas is you that i believe is under universal you know what actually the the specific tracks they don't have on here all i want for christmas i believe this is under UMG so mara carries under sony so uh brenda lee has the second most popular track currently why did brenda's got a baby pop up that's funny um rocking around rocking around the christmas tree is under i'm trying to see uh i probably should just type this the title of the track okay so that particular track It's under UMG. So UMG has that.
Starting point is 00:04:36 And then of course, Last Christmas by Wham. So these are the top three Christmas tracks. Sony has the Mariah Carey track. UMG has the Brenda Lee rocking around the Christmas tree track. And then of course, The Last Christmas by Wham, which rounds off the top three.
Starting point is 00:04:54 That particular track is under Sony. So, okay. So as far as the songs, Sony has the most out of the top three. But as far as the top 10, I would have to look at the actual other tracks. But we could do that some other time. Because as far as market share, that's why I wanted to get across, is that UMG has 75% of the entire market share as far as music consumption,
Starting point is 00:05:17 which is insane, especially around December, when a lot of people have exposable income, especially to buy tracks as far as the purchases digitally on iTunes, as far as vinyl, anything. associated with the track, people are more inclined to buy it because of the exposable income in December. Now with that being said, another thing I wanted to get into was of course, jingle bell rock is one of the best tracks of all time, but also as far as Christmas, it definitely has a lasting impact on the overall holiday spirit because you play this particular track and you already know the cultural
Starting point is 00:06:01 equity that comes along with it, right? It's like the not like us version, but for Christmas. It's like the not like us Christmas version because not like us plays and everybody knows culturally what Kendrick is trying to get across in his message. Jingle Bell Rock, uh, Jingle Bell Rock plays and everybody knows that it's time to be in a gift giving move. Because if you don't know, you know, as far as Christmas and beyond the just religious
Starting point is 00:06:30 roots of Christmas. It's a whole entire global cultural event. Not only for just the gift-giving traditions, but, you know, decorating, lighting your home, spending time with family, carol singing, I think that's how you say it. Of course, the food as far as turkey or what people would say is Christmas pudding.
Starting point is 00:06:56 I've never heard of that. So we're just going to leave that alone. But it just overall And captivates the field of a Christmas holiday Because of course, Jingle Bell Rock Playing along with these activities As far as setting up lights, as far as decorating Christmas tree, As far as hanging out with family,
Starting point is 00:07:18 It just ultimately reinvigorates why Christmas is one of the best holidays of all time. So with that being said, I want you to click my link to tree in my bio. let me know one of my social medias. What is your personal favorite Christmas track of all time?
