Now getting into Bon Iver, I don't usually talk about this musician a lot, but the last time I checked, I did cover him back in July 28th, 2023 when he put out, well, he was on the track titled My Eyes that was off of the Travis Scott album. I think it was called Utopia. So when it comes to Bon Iver, the last time I covered him was when he was on.
Utopia. Yeah, it was
Utopia back in 2023 from Travis Scott.
Now, of course, he's back with his own
offering as far as an album.
And it's out now on all DSPs and it's titled
Sable Fable.
Now, of course, this is 41 minutes
of an offering, a musical
offering as far as this particular artist
and he's under what in the world? What is that?
I don't know. I've never seen this before.
He is under Jag.
Jag war
Now we're gonna figure this out right now
Cause what type of title is that
Jag Jag
You wore
Okay that is insane
They won't know what that is
Let's see
You war
Let's do music label
Because I have to know what this is
I've never seen this ever
Like is this man independent
Obviously he can be
Because you know
The numbers that he's doing
Not saying that you have to be signed
To do these type of numbers
but he's peaked at number two on the billboard back in 2016 with the track a million so i would
assume is a pretty oh it's actually just an indie record label in bloomington indiana
well who would have thunk anyways so the record label that bond ivor is under is known for its uh
alectic roster spanning indie rock folk and experimental music and it was founded in
Armin in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Hmm.
And it started with small releases for local bands like the Curious Digit.
Now, that is insane.
I ain't gonna lie.
This is why I like diving into the music industry,
because who would have knew,
who would have thunk that you could impact the masses
under a music label that titles themselves Jag, Jag, War?
That is insanity.
So anyways, back to Bon Iver, right?
He has an album out, Sabo, Sabo, Fable,
is 41 minutes in length
and essentially he's doing a lot of
experimental music
but a lot of the elements is
ambient and electronic of course
with that being said
the band members are
Vernon, Sean Kerry
Michael Lewis
Matthew Matthew
Macon
McCahn
McCahan I think that's how you say
and Andrew Fitzpatrick
and Jen Wesner
so whenever I
go to his Instagram account.
I ain't okay.
Bond Ivers shows up as a singular person.
So,
I don't know,
maybe that's just a part of his,
like,
crew or whatever.
But the main thing I was willing to say
is his notable collaboration,
uh,
besides the Travis Scott,
which I covered as far as in 2020,
the Ma A's track.
He was also with Taylor Swift on a track titled
Exile,
which went number six on the Hot 100 list.
Now,
also has another peculiar,
name has Kanye West he did a track with Kanye West Kanye West Kanye West Bon Iver okay so Kanye
Kanye West and Bon Iver what in the actual he was on my beautiful dark twisted
fantasy so you learn some every day Bon Iver was on my beautiful dark twisted
family on the specific track lost in the world ladies gentlemen this album came out
2010 this man Bon Iver has been around for a minute
Anyways, essentially he was, because this is my first time ever doing a segment specifically on him.
So I want to give you some of the background.
He was founded in 2006 by Justin Vernon.
I don't know who that is, but obviously he does.
So the single that led up to this because he had a specific marketing rollout for this album.
And the single was, oh yeah,
He had multiple different singles.
He had, if only I could wait, he had everything that's peaceful love.
He had things behind.
Okay, so he had like a whole EP before he put out this album because this came out this year.
And then he also had a EP titled Sable back in October 18, 2024.
So he's been building up for this.
He's been building up to this for a minute.
And it makes sense as I'm not going to say if you're under independent, you have to do more work.
but let's just say the music label or the music industry,
a lot of things are made easier and simpler
if you're signed to a major label
because now you didn't, you know, play ball
as far as the game is considered
and they let you in a certain doors.
So with Bond Iver being on pitchfork, right,
him being on Rolling Stone,
does that say my podcast?
What the world?
That's crazy.
It says NM.
obviously it probably stands for something else
but it says delicate harmonies
and emotional way I definitely didn't say that
so I don't know where they got that from
but anyways
so him being on pitchfork and
Rolling Stone is very introspective
and I think with
him and the music that
he's putting out he's basically gaining
a lot of traction and not to make this
sound like incisitive
but you know he's gaining a lot of traction
through his mental health
conversations I don't want that to be taking the wrong
way I just wanted to let y'all know
that I'm not like being like insensitive to the way he's in and captivating the masses through
mental health conversations right and the way that he's having it is very impactful to the
to the point where it's still developing even for a lot of his fans as far as how he's engaging
with them and the mental health conversation so it seems like he's a great resource when it comes
to those type of topical conversations when it regarding mental health and music so him putting out
music having that theme resonates to a lot of people right and ultimately that is a hard
theme to get across the music and make it sound commercial as far as having that replayability
factor because when it comes to analytically this man is doing numbers on the charts as when he
put out sable back in 2023 as far as a single i don't know when he put out sable back in it was
It's 2024, I believe. Let me see. Yeah, Sable came out back in 2024. When he put that out,
it ended up being a phenomenal release as that particular track, debut number 21 on Billboard 200, right?
And then the entire EP ended up selling 18,000 first week as far as 12,000 in traditional sales
and 6,000 streaming equivalent. So he's no stranger to putting up numbers on the charts. He's no
stranger to putting out very impactful music once again you know talking about mental health
and having a lot of in-depth conversations surrounding that but ultimately just wanted to let y'all
know that bond ivor has an album out now on all dsps titled sable fable so click my link to
my bio let me know one of my social medias if you've been a huge bond iver fan what has been your
favorite track from bond ivor so far
