Starting point is 00:00:03 Time to get into another Titan, another icon in the Christmas era, as far as she's given us anthems seasonally that we could play between November and December and sometimes even January. Because when I tell you that Brandy Lee is also one of those that as far as longevity and striving to achieve certain longevity in the music game, Brenda Lee, is up there as one of the people you should look at as far as motivating yourself as a musician. Because for those who don't know, when the original track came out as far as in 1958, it struggled when it came to sales amongst the masses. But then, of course, in 1960, after Brenda Lee gained some fame through just marketing tactics and things in that nature, she ended up peeing. at 14 on the billboard hot 100.
Starting point is 00:01:07 So that should go to show you that even though you put out music and it may not resonate at that point in time, always put your best foot forward because you never know when it could blow up amongst the masses. Right. So just a little motivating sentiment that I wanted to sing y'all way. Because anyways, this is the season of sharing and caring, right? So with that being said, let's get into the anthem as Brandeley.
Starting point is 00:01:33 obviously has one of the greatest tracks of all time as rocking around the Christmas tree is currently the 15th most played track in the world. And if you want to know when this track came out, let's just say it came out a while ago, right? 1964 to be exact. Now, I don't know if any of y'all were alive. Like I would say some of y'all, most of y'all, everybody listening. And fun fact, I actually have an older audience. Most of the people who listen to this podcast is older than me. I don't know what that says about me. I always say that I'm 24 going on 80, but I'm just letting y'all know, most of y'all, no, actually, all of y'all were not born when this came out. I'm pretty confident in saying that. So for it to still be having longevity
Starting point is 00:02:19 in 2024, with it being a 14th most played track in the world, obviously you can say, oh, it's Christmas season, so that's why it peaks every single year around this time. There are superstars in the game with fantastic voices in the music industry that have remade some of the greatest Christmas tracks. And even those don't do as well seasonally as a brandy song as far as
Starting point is 00:02:48 longevity. Because what's missing as far as the Christmas season is the nostalgia-like factor. So when you enter that in with the song that came out from 1964, now people feel like they are celebrating Christmas in the right manner. Because if you play a new rendition of, I'm not even going to shade any artists,
Starting point is 00:03:12 but let's just say a great vocalist does a cover of a famous Christmas song. People are going to listen to that and say, it's nice, but I prefer the original that came out before I was even born, right? It's just a nostalgia-like factor. And usually with music fans, they prefer to listen to older music, even if it's a new artist. They will prefer your older music versus your present music.
Starting point is 00:03:39 I don't know. There's some type of psychology, deep dive that we can have with that fact. But as of right now, I'm just letting you know, plain as simple, it's because of the nostalgia-like factor. Usually older products, it's always looked at in a better fashion as far as president up to date. So, with that be you said, with this track, setting, the record as the slowest climb to the top of the charts as it took 25 years for this to actually chart the top the charts and what that means is a number one right so it took 25 years for this to
Starting point is 00:04:18 ever hit number one and it marked brendalee's third number one hit after her track i'm sorry and the other track i want to be wanted that came out in 1960 so if you want to know her slugher right that came back in the 60s I want to what type of hardy are they were using back then right anyways that those are her greatest tracks as far as her new music career as far as her discography overall she's had 34.9 million streams in the week leading into the week the week leading to its 2023 number one achievement and of course 36 million copies worldwide, basically cementing the fact that she is, undeniably one of the greatest Christmas songmakers to ever live.
Starting point is 00:05:11 And she was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2019, basically acknowledging her amount of impact on a musical landscape. So with her maintaining relevance, sorry, I messed that all the way up, but with her maintaining relevance in this music industry, you come to realize that even though something may not get acknowledged as soon as it drops, because remind you, this initially dropped in 1958, but in all intents and purposes, it flop as far as all the litmus scales back in that day. I don't know how many scales they had because you know it's back in the sticks and stones. No, all right, let me chill. You know, somebody may be listening to this from back in that day like, hey, talk about
Starting point is 00:06:00 my time talk about my era one more time young man they're gonna they gonna put the uh life alert people on me anyways um so with that being said this track came out 1958 but of course in 1960 it popularized amongst the masses so that should always let any creator know that even though it may not get exposed to the masses initially still put your best foot forward because you never know when it's gonna blow up and become famous so that being said click my link tree in my bio let me know on one of my social medias. What do you think about Brenda Lee? And the same question I have as far as when I cover Mariah Carey. What is your top five greatest Christmas tracks of all time? That's your personal list.
