Sometimes in life, you just have to bring back the phrase, I don't know.
Because when discussing Afrobees, which you can go on my podcast platform,
The Torres Mass Effect, on whatever platform you listen to podcasts on,
I talked about Burn a Boy and his latest single title, The Big Seven.
Now, when getting into that, granted, it was on-the-fly type of research,
but I started discussing
Burn the Boys' first week sales,
which I was completely incorrect on,
which sometimes when covering hip-hop and music,
that's going to happen.
But I feel like it's important to point that out
because it's not one of the things that I'm proud of,
because if I'm saying something,
I would rather be correct information.
So, of course, when discussing the Afrobeat numbers,
I was correct,
which as far as like the beginning of that,
Burn the Boy Big Seven segment, which you can look it up.
Like I said, notorious massive fake Burner Boy Big Seven.
But towards the second half of that segment, I started getting into his first week sales,
which they was just to reiterate, completely incorrect.
So when deep diving and getting more into Burner Boy,
I don't know how big of an artist Burner Boy is.
I looked at his first week sales, his actual first week sales in the United States.
And what I saw was pretty interesting because the discussion around Burnaboy is he's bigger than most artists in the game.
But he's currently rolling out an album.
He put out Big Seven.
He put out Top of the World, I believe, with 21 Savage.
Let me see.
Yeah, sitting on top of the world, which that remix by 21 Savage.
came out
came out June 22nd,
2023 and the reason why I'm speaking on this
is because if you look along with me
on analytic dreams video on spot exclusive video
on Spotify he has 15 tracks
on his album sitting on top of the world
which is track number four big seven which is
track number eight is the two tracks is already out for this
album and thanks which is the specific track I'm getting into by Jermaine Cole of course is
going to have another premium feature for his album so not only does he have 21 Savage
hopping on the remix for his track sitting on top of the world which I still believe is fire
along with that he has Jermaine Cole the one and only on the four
the 14th track of his album titled thanks so that well his album was titled i told them but this track
is specifically titled thanks so reason i bring up those premier acts as features because
it's been brought to my attention that burner boy for the most part is independent but
he does have help from warner bros now of course
That's an overarching owner.
So more specifically, he's under Spaceship Records,
and you can go look at this on whatever DSP you use.
Spaceship Records, Bad Habit, and Atlantic Recording Corporation.
So Spaceship Records is an independent record label,
founded by Bernard Boy and his manager, Amika Agulu,
and Bad Habit is a joint venture between Spaceship Records and Atlantic Recording Corporation.
And of course, the Atlantic Corporation is a major record label owned by Warner Music.
That's why I'm saying that he's mostly independent because whenever I see the first thing being your label that you started,
I'm thinking it's a distribution deal with Warner slash Atlantic rather than a full-on,
major label situation because well the reason i say that is because sitting on top of the world
is nowhere to be found on the charts i even looked at it i had to look at this myself because i'm like
you're not telling me the biggest artist in the world well supposedly having a feature from 21 savage
is not going to stay on the charts for at least a month or two you know so i had to look at
Burn a Boy's success when it comes to the billboard top 200 not even 100 top 200 his
effort African giant album which came out in 2019 spent a total of one week on the charts twice as
tall that came out 2020 spent a total of one week on the charts and then here's the kicker
love demean by Burn a boy that came out 2022 spent
a whopping 12 weeks on the billboard top 200 now of course for independent artists that's phenomenal
numbers but seeing that burner boy now has a distribution deal which i'm assuming is a distribution deal
with atlantic you would think these type of tracks with a 21 savage would spend more time
on the charts because of so much for lack of a better term
hoopla created around Burner Boy. So at this point in time, I am completely in the dark on how
much this man will sell because I'm not aware of when he signed this distribution deal. I'm
thinking it was before the rollout for this album. And now that we have this album coming up,
I'll be very interested to see how it performs week after week. Because I'm thinking Afrobees
as a genre probably holds retention more week after week as far as it compared to the
the hip-hop genre, which a lot of people listen to once or twice, and then they go to the
next hot hip-hop track.
For the Afrobeats genre, I feel like the first week will be telling, but I'm still not able
to gauge how much this man will sell.
So I don't think, well, I already said that.
I kept saying that again and again, but Love Dimeini sold around 25,000 to 30,000
first week if I had to fact check.
yeah so 25,000 first week but that's just United States like we don't know overseas numbers
and overseas is not counted towards some of the U.S. charts so if like when I go to the charts
I don't see Burn a boy anywhere on the USA charts so I was like let me go to global I went to
global I still didn't see Burn a boy and I was like let me even go to Nigeria
Because ain't no way.
This man has all this talk about being one of the, well, it's like fans.
And they're telling me, like, can't wait for this album to drop.
It's going to be one of the biggest albums.
And then I go to his numbers and it's just not there.
I'm very interested to see how that works out because I'm thinking it's maybe a central seat situation.
Well, because of him being independent and held him back to not.
climb the ranks as far as the big major label artist but at this point in time i'm looking at
this distribution deal and i'm like hold up you're telling me he's under warner slash atlantic
and he's still not staying on the charts for longer than 12 weeks maximum i go to the nigeria
charts so yeah i don't think i'm joking i literally went to the nigeria charts i see a saki
i don't know i'll say that lonely at the top oh malay with reason olamai maaaqa it basically
I'm seeing everybody but Burn a Boy.
I'm seeing
Davido.
I'm seeing
Asaki again.
Oh, here is Burn a Boy.
Okay, so this man's at
Burn a Boy Big Seven is at number 14
of the top songs of Nigeria,
specifically Nigeria.
Number 14 in his own country that
people say that he's like one of the biggest hip,
he's one of the biggest Nigeria artists in the world.
I find that hard to believe.
I'm open to be an incorrect,
but I really wanted to just pinpoint the fact that I don't know.
Burner Boy's Overseas Act is harder to track those numbers.
It's hard to talk from an educated or a research standpoint
when you can't research effectively when it comes to overseas numbers.
But as far as global charts, U.S. charts, and even Nigeria charts,
if your track is only charting number 14th in your own country
and people are comparing you to the biggest artists in the world
like you really have to think about that so I'm open to being wrong
we're going to see when this album comes out today or tomorrow
or whenever it comes out titled I Told You or I Told Them by Burn the Boy
once again it's 14 tracks
as feature has features like J. Cole
this is not an album overview i'm basically breaking down the j cole portion of this so it's kind of
like half and half but basically the album features well has 15 songs several features
j cole 21 savages is among amongst the biggest ones uh dave as well what else
it's basically it so yeah with all of that i'm i'm still saying at the end of the day
we still have to wait and see because ultimately
I don't know
so click my link tree in my bio
let me know one of my social medias what do you think about
burn the boy and his album I told them

but when I went to Spotify the album was already up
so I don't know if something happened but anyways
