Starting point is 00:00:03 You know, out of all the beefs that Drake has had, childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, being one of them, was completely out of left field. Now, of course, I keep up with all of my favorite musicians' opposition, because that is what keeps the sport of hip-hop pristine and in mint condition, because that is what fuels the pin when it comes to putting some vitriol via words towards somebody. Now, of course, Donald Glover is probably one of the more talented people that I've seen in history, right? I would go as far as to say he's way more talented than Drake.
Starting point is 00:00:47 I know, right? As a Drake's thing, y'all probably killing me right now. Like, what in the world? They're about to kick me out of OVO, everything. But hear me out. So as far as going from one medium to another and having success, whereas you could talk about childish game being, know being an artist having success Donald Glover going over into the filmmaking aspect and having success via Atlanta it just begs the question how and what can this man not do like what can
Starting point is 00:01:18 this man not do as far as creatively so that is why I say that because to go from a different medium especially as a black man you know once being a rapper they look at you a certain way they think you have a certain level of IQ. So to get that off the ground and for it to be successful, we've seen it tried to be replicated by many people and it crashed and burn because it's not as easy as Donald Glover made it look in Atlanta. Now, with that being said, Donald Glover has announced his intention to retire the persona Childish Gambino after two more albums.
Starting point is 00:01:58 So yes, ladies and gentlemen. sad day approaching as childish Gambino is looking forward to retirement. And all I got to say is, in my head, over and over and over, this in America plays simply for the fact that I remember being back home and my dad playing that nonstop to the point. I thought that was the theme song for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is America playing 24-7, 365 days in a year. was just insurmountable when it came to overcoming it just being ingrained into my membrane.
Starting point is 00:02:38 All right. So let's keep going. Childers Gambino is one of those people to where he puts out music, people going to listen. I call myself analytic dreams, but I'm going to be a little biased because unlike my favorite musician Drake, the sales, I don't know if he'll be consistently there as far as child. I don't know what he usually does as far as first week sales. I guess I could look it up. He hasn't put out music in so long so it would be kind of hard to go off any of these numbers. Because basically, I don't know the last time he put out an album.
Starting point is 00:03:23 So Childish Gambino, the last time he put out a project was in Rapids who had the biggest between projects. Goodness. 25,000 say it ain't so no wonder he stopped now I'll just play it and let me let me see that's why say what you want about Drake but if y'all really didn't like his music you would see a precipitous drop off like some of the other people y'all claim to be um more fan of you know more of a fan of that makes sense I don't know um it seems like a childish flop with his last album that's that's uh that's unfortunate yeah first week sales of 52,000 I was in 2011 what's the updated one 2016 awaken my love oh I do remember
Starting point is 00:04:14 that track yeah I mean yeah that's that's what I'm saying it's kind of hard because that one was more of uh it was like an experimental album I'm not trying to shoot him no bell but if you listen to that album it really doesn't sound like any childish game being an album so let me see if I can find of course nobody has some projections Um, let me see. Uh, 100 and no. Yeah, 101,000 first week sales. That's not bad.
Starting point is 00:04:51 That's pretty good. Because his best first week sales before that was, I think, 2013 because of the internet with 96,000 copies. So, you know, obviously it's, um, and it went up against Starboard, Starboard, that's kind of crazy. Yeah, I don't know what he's going to sell, but I did that little deep dive, and technically he didn't fall all the way off.
Starting point is 00:05:27 I think they were just trying to talk about the precipitous drop off between two projects because that's kind of what the stat was saying. But yeah, so I'm expecting around $100,000 for his album because that's actually not pretty, that's not bad at all. Usually, you know, people have to fall all the way off. Like I thought I saw $25,000 first week. I was like, goodness. But still, it's not Drake numbers.
Starting point is 00:05:53 But like I said, as far as a creative aspect, which, you know, doesn't always lead into sales. That's why I say all the time, you know, I cover analytics, but it's not mean just because something does this and something does less numbers that the one that does more numbers is higher quality. I mean, just listen to all the ice spice tracks out in the world. You know what I'm saying? Like if you're a rapper, hey, you can always make it. You know what I'm saying? So anyways. What else?
Starting point is 00:06:18 That was a crazy ice bite straight. Wasn't it? I don't even know what that came from. So anyway, anyways, uh, yeah, new music, teased a video release for the track Littlefoot, Bigfoot, hinted at retirement. Uh, he was on stage with Tyler the creator. It was, uh, having a great, um, you know, performance. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:06:40 On and off. No, let me chill. So, uh, the announcement, you know, came after his surprise appearance of Coachella, Okay, I already talked about that. All right. Yeah, that's basically it, man. Best believe me, when Childish Gamebino drops, I'm pretty sure that something is going to stick off of his album.
Starting point is 00:07:00 And I think he was wanting to attach a movie with it. But, you know, take that with a grain of salt. I don't know how much I have to look into that. But I think he was wanting to attach something for his upcoming film. I think it's called Bando Stone in the New World, I believe. Anyways. all right so yeah look out for his new album and movie because at this point i don't know how he does both but seemingly he still has time to do both so click my link sharing my bio let me know one of my
Starting point is 00:07:28 social medias what do you think about donald glover's hint at retirement or just a retiring of the childish gambino character and what was your favorite moment from childish gambino
