Starting point is 00:00:03 Now, ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you one thing and one thing only. Every time I look at Coco Jones, I just think back to the 2012 movie Let It Shine. Now, if y'all don't know, this is one of the most classic movies Disney ever put out. And maybe I'm a little biased because I cover primarily hip hop along with the entire music industry. But let's just say, when it comes to hip hop and rapping, I think that's the best movie Disney has ever put out. primarily when it comes to music because lemonade lemonade heads is up there and i don't want to get on my Disney tip pause but as far as lemonade heads and as far as let it shine
Starting point is 00:00:40 musically i think those are the two best movies disney has ever put out now of course people are going to come with high school musical i ain't trying to hear all that i'm trying to hear actual raps and actual tracks not fitting into the storyline right because lemonade head and i think let it shine is a underrated classic in my opinion Now that out the way. Of course, this segment is particularly talking about the one and only Coco Jones, who of course is named Courtney, Michelle, Michelle Ann Jones.
Starting point is 00:01:12 I didn't even know her name was, hey, you learn Govies every day, don't you? So anyways, with that being said, of course, her going from a Disney actor to a Grammy-winning R&B artist. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, she has won a Grammy. So when it comes to just overall being talented, she's already immensely talented, so that doesn't need to be stated. The reason for this segment is because she's put out a new track titled Tate's. Now, of course, when it comes to this particular track, I believe Tase came out. Let me see when it came out. Tase. Oh, I'm tripping. Yeah, Tate's came out today. But as far as,
Starting point is 00:01:50 I think she's put out releases in the past that I've covered, because I know as far as the podcast specifically, I covered her track with Brent Fias titled Moment of Your Life. I covered that in August 25th, 2023. So, yeah, she really doesn't have any frequent music. But if you do know, one of the big dogs in the industry, when I say big dogs, I mean, actually one of the big dogs in the industry, as Teddy Swims currently has the 12th most popular track in the world.
Starting point is 00:02:21 And then when it comes to albums, he currently has the 27th most popular album in the world with the title. I've tried everything but therapy part one. And guess who's on that album? You guessed it. Coco Jones. So she's everywhere.
Starting point is 00:02:35 And she's definitely making her splash on the music scene with, oh, she did have track. I knew she had tracks out before this one. So she had a track out titled Here We Go. And that was released back in January 22nd of this year. So I remember she did release something. And that was under Def Jam Recordings, the Division of UMG.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Whenever I hear Def Jam, it gives me pause because I don't know how to take it when it comes to the mass appeal because I don't know if Def Jam really has the finger on the culture like they used to. Nowadays, you look at Def Jam and it's more of a shell of itself, if that makes sense. Now, of course, I'm not talking anything specifically about Coco Jones. I know that Jello, he just signed to Def Jam, and we've seen what he's, did on the All-Star stage, you know what I mean, basically running out of breath every half a syllable. But with that being said, Coco Jones is obviously way more talented, so I think she'll be
Starting point is 00:03:35 okay. It just definitely brings me hesitancy whenever I'm talking about Def Jam, especially handling an artist like Coco Jones. But that out the way, I think the collaborations that she's been making is phenomenal. Being on Teddy Swim's album is a huge feat, especially with that being the 13th 27th most play album in the world. Hopefully, statistically speaking, somebody from that listenership will come to you and listen to your music specifically based on your performance. So when it comes to this track, Tates,
Starting point is 00:04:09 I don't know what to think of it because quality-wise, you already know it's going to be at a high level, but as far as commercial-wise, she doesn't have any tracks on the charts, she doesn't have any albums on the charts, which is okay, because I always say, if you make high-quality music, it does not mean there's always going to sell.
Starting point is 00:04:24 And if you don't sell, does not mean you're making like atrocious music. It's basically a litmus scale for consumption, but quality and streams don't always correlate. So anyways, when it comes to Tate, she is, it could be a part of Coco Jones debut album, which is releasing April 25th, 2025, but because the release day is so far out,
Starting point is 00:04:50 and I'm pretty sure it's going to stay like set in stone because even on DSPs are saying that the album, it's like a countdown for the album, and it says like 62 days like i even know you could put it that push it that far back so i think they're leaving a lot of leeway for finding a hit and i think that's going to be the primary uh the primary concern finding a hit for this album 62 days to find a hit and hopefully this is the one that does it for her but of course her last track here we go basically went in the top 20 of billboard hot R&B songs, but on the overall Billboard Hot 100, it was expected to be in the 40-50 range,
Starting point is 00:05:33 but obviously, as I'm checking right now, there's nowhere to be found on the charts. So I don't know if it hit that mark and it fell off, or I don't know if it just never hit that mark. Like, we just don't know. But as far as a Disney actor transitioning into being a great musical talent in the music industry, I mean, we've seen plenty of them. And Coco Jones is just another example of the Disney machine, just putting out superstar musicians into the world. So with that being said, click my link, sure my bio, let me know
Starting point is 00:06:01 on one of my social medias. What do you think about Coco Jones and her latest track, Tase? And if you've listened to the track, what is your favorite part about taste?
