Now I know what you're probably thinking. Why in the world would Discord get a new CEO? That is from Israel, mind you. Shepard. All right, my fault. Getting back on the main point. Why would Discord hire a new CEO? And then just months after, I said just months after a particular data breach,

they want to install ID checks. But then, you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn. And of course, ladies and gentlemen, an analytic dreams video on Spotify to see the video along with the audio because of course I have this specific screenshot right here that I'm not going to lie to you if this wasn't in 4k then I don't know what else type of resolution you need because when it comes to Discord support they basically said guess what won't need you y'all want safety

y'all want privacy but we're offering neither as you know a lot of people are canceling the nitro subscription because of this tweet right here as From Discord themselves, they said, Discord will soon be expanding teen safety protections worldwide, including teen by default settings and age assurance designed to create safer experiences for teens. Now, a lot of people use Discord for whatever reasons, but majority of the time, from what I've seen, is used for gaming, right? And of course, there's a lot of ways, a plethora of ways you can use Discord. So with this announcement, let's just say people wasn't the fondest of this reveal. And basically, they went as far as the community noted, ladies and gentlemen.

You guys. See, that's the problem. So the community got together and they put a little text that you probably want to see or hear right here as discord suffered a data breach in October of 2025. You guys. See, that's the problem. You can't make this stuff up. with the government IDs, which of course Discord is actively trying to collect, safe to say there was a lot of data IDs, government IDs stolen in that data breach.

So that's why a lot of people are upset with Discord. If you wonder, no, it's not just because they want to have extra clarification before letting teens onto the platform. It's because they cannot keep your data private. Now, I know a lot of people are saying, well, a lot of companies do this. Meta did it as far as having people under 18 or 16 in some regions have more restricted settings and you know user age estimation ID selfie verification right. Meta did that. TikTok has done it with teen accounts having strict defaults like private accounts messaging limits and using facial age estimation or ID for verification and of course YouTube, Roblox, etc. So a lot of people are wondering why is everybody up in arms when it comes to Discord.

But it's because of that data breach in October 2025. And of course, when you look at the data security risk, who wants Discord to be the reason why they lose access to a plethora of accounts? Imagine somebody's trying to hack

your account and all they need to do was just go to Discord because guess what? Their security isn't the greatest when compared to a meta YouTube Roblox. Fun fact, actually, let me throw a little personal story in there. So my Gmail was hacked, ladies and gentlemen. I know you're probably like, so what happened?

Guess what? Gmail, I don't know what they did. They got Snake from Metal Gear Solid. They got Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. And they got it back in under 48 hours, ladies and gentlemen. So when it comes to Discord, safe to say, what there are data breaches and the possibility of you getting hacked raising or rising because of this new reveal.

I don't know if they have the same amount of security that a Google may have to get your account back, right? So anyways, let's get into the crept of the details. You know, basically let's get to the meat and potatoes of why people are upset as March 2026. So it hasn't went to effect yet. But March 2026, Discord will apply team by default settings globally for all users, meaning that both new and existing users will automatically have a teen appropriate experience until age verification is completed and it doesn't stop there ladies and gentlemen these settings will restrict access to age restricted servers blur sensitive content limit direct messages add friend requests warnings

from unfamiliar accounts and of course restrict teen accounts from speaking on stage and servers discord is not messing around as you look at the age verification safe to say the biggest obstacle that they're going to have to overcome because a lot of people are canceling the nitro At first, I was like, ah, it's not a real story. This can't be that big. And then I kept following it throughout the day, which, you know, I believe this happened. Yeah, yesterday. I wish if you're in the future, it happened February 9th.

So with me recording this in February 10th, let's just say they haven't died down one bid. Everybody is still irate that Discord is out here trying to make you have a whole selfie just to be verified. And like I keep saying, a lot of other accounts or a lot of other companies have did this exact same thing. but they didn't just have the recent October 2025 data breach like Discord had. And dare I say, the security for a meta for YouTube, TikTok, etc. is way better than a Discord. So a lot of people looking at this in a very egregious manner because they're upset and irate over Discord forming this whole quote quote teen council.

Because if you don't know, there's also going to be a teen council form of 10 to 12 teens age from 13 to 17. and the purpose is to provide insight into teen safety online needs and connection building. Y'all do have that information which you will. Anyways, Discord currently, if you don't know, it's one of the biggest platforms in the world. I mean, not in the world, but you know, it's definitely huge amongst the tech spaces and things that nature. Discord has 200 million plus monthly users already has required age verification in UK and Australia to comply with online safety laws. And as far as the safety measures included,

basically the past ones that they've included as far as safety measures were banning teen dating channels, blocking AI generated CSAM. I don't know what that is. Automated content filters and warnings. And prior incidents, like the data breach, more specifically, it has 70,000. 70,000.

You guys. See, that's the problem. 70,000. ID photos leaked in 2025 via a verification vendor hack. Now, only God knows what happened to those specific holders of those IDs and what hacking occurred because of that. Because if you don't know, whenever hacks like this happens, usually, I'm not saying usually, you need to change your password or go in. and then change your second uh you're basically your two factor because you never know what type of access they actually have whenever these hacks happen so i think updating your security features no matter

if you don't think you're going to get hacked because you have two factor i think updating it just builds a little bit more later so they don't have the up-to-date passwords right they don't have your one two three password that they could just type in and get your whole account right so with that being said um i didn't want to stick on this for too long i just wanted to bring it to people's attention for those who use Discord and wonder all of a sudden they wonder why all of a sudden they don't have that features that they used to have even though they've been on the platform for quite some time. Discord wants that once that face scan and guess what I think at this point in time and there is a lot of backlash a lot of people are unsubscribing to Nitro so I don't know if they will go back if they'll take a step back and be like hmm maybe we could try a better way to verify people than actually asking for a whole selfie or video because other platforms do this once again but there are security measures i would say is as much better and improved um and in tested battle tested uh compared to discord so we're not

going to um make this uh too long than need uh longer than it needs to be that's all you need to know discord i actually don't know what's going to end up doing because i think discord is pretty essential other apps like discord they put a price point to to gain their software for discord the main thing about it was it was free when the new CEO came on and then nitro was introduced and now all of a sudden the ad stopped popping start popping up for those who had the free version i believe them going back to what made them essential as far as being a free platform i think if they take away nitro right but then still keep the verification i don't think people would be as upset like if you give the nitro tools and access for free but keep this verification i don't think
