The cream of the crop, the apex, the highest of heights, the mascot for what a successful artist looks like in 2023.
You know, covering Doja Cap, I just had to go to the charts because forget all that subjective facts.
I don't even think that works. Subjective opinions, perceptions, uh, artist's opinions.
basically let's get straight to the numbers right because men lie women lie but guess what
their numbers don't and ladies and gentlemen if you go to top global songs if you go to u.s
top songs guess who you're going to see top two and not two doji cat with her track paint the town
red now of course that comes after her rollout was marked with a lot of surreal teasers including
cryptic tweets, blood splattered artwork, temporary name change to MC Flapchunks the third. Yes,
ladies and gentlemen, that was part of her rollout campaign. After all that outlandish stuff with
people accusing her of worshipping the devil, being Satan herself, she still managed to have more
success than she's ever had as a musician. And that's saying something because Doja Cat is one of the
more successful artists in the music industry. So after
putting out paint the town red and it going number one in the world like at all the songs in the
world paint the town red as number one think about that with a devilish campaign let people tell it
first rap song to ever in over a year to reach number one on the charts now i said all those facts
in less than two minutes because i wanted to let y'all know the type of artists that we're covering
right now i don't want y'all to think i'm just coming from a perspective of oh dreams must be
worshipping the devil too why he bigging up doja cat like this this man probably had a blood satanic
ritual before he started this review and ain't none of that going on basically i just had to look at the
numbers and let y'all know that dojik had them fooled y'all to thinking that she out here worshipping the devil
just to have more success than she ever had as a musician i mean marketing one-on-one is that if a
marketing tactic is working, why not keep doing it? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And obviously,
y'all are falling for it in a way that I've never seen a fan base fall forward before because
she literally told her fan base, forget your feelings. And I'm not going to say I love you because I don't
know y'all. Like at that point, I'm like, dang. Well, who else is talking to the fan base like
that and still going number one in the world? Doja Cat must really be him. I can't even say her
because him is an embodiment of everybody.
Guys, girls, it don't matter.
Doja Cat is outselling everybody.
So with this album, I'm expecting some big numbers.
I should have did my due diligence and looked up her previous first week sales.
Actually, let me do that right now.
But basically, I was going to predict what she was going to sell first week.
I just really wanted to get into 2023 because I think people are really forgetting that Doja Cat is putting
up some superstar lebron james like numbers in twenty twenty three like she's really not
competing with anybody besides like a taylor swiff or a morgan wall and that's outside of her
genre like when it comes to hip-hop there's a reason and this is going to hurt my heart to say it
and you already know i'm going with this there's a reason why drake said his album was going to come out
september 22nd and he pushed it back to october six right october six is two
weeks from now. So basically, he wants a two-week gap because he feels like he couldn't compete
with Doja Cat. I'm going to just say it because I know nobody else will. Drake pushed back
for all the dogs to October 6th because he did not want to compete with Doja Cat's Scarlet
album for First Week sales. All right. Just had to let that be no. First Week sales, right? Doja Cat
did... Let me go to her page.
second cross-reference you know can't do fake news over here so basically she has amala which came out
2018 that did less than 5 000 first week obviously her first album like you know you got to give
her a little you know leeway come on now and then hot pink that came out 2019 that did 28 000
first week and then planet her did 109000 first week now with that being said i am confident
I'm like, I'm not even a betting man
and I'll put the house on
Doja Cat having her biggest first week ever in her career
because I wasn't even thinking of a hundred thousand first week
when I was thinking of Scarlet.
I was in the mindset of 200, at least,
250 to 300,000 first week.
Like, how much did Travis Scott sell hood?
Forget all that.
Astro World.
No, I can't compare it to Astro World
because he sold bundles.
which is one of the more hilarious
I know I'm all over the, well really I'm not
I know it's one of the more hilarious
rants I've ever seen in hip hop history
is when Nikki Minaj literally blew a gasket
because Travis Scott outsold her by selling socks and shirts
she went on her Queen Radio
and this is when Astro World came out
so it wasn't like it was a bad body of work
not that Travis Scott has one
but I'm just, you know, I have to preface that.
Travis Scott also had bundles
which if you don't know, it's back in effect now,
so you can also put bundles out with your music,
just have to turn your music in a little bit earlier.
Basically, I don't think Doja Cat did that.
I'll have to look that up.
But Travis Scott did that with Astroil,
outselling Nickymanage by, it was a close margin.
But if he didn't have those bundles,
Nick Minage would have had that first week sale
with the, I think it was the album Queen.
Anyways, Nicky Minogue was irate,
one of the most hilarious tirade I've ever seen in hip-hop history,
cussing Travis Scott out
basically saying this man
is selling
out here selling socks and shirts
instead of selling music
and she was like on point with her coverage
of what Travis Scott was doing
but ain't nobody care because guess what
the famous phrase don't hate the player
hate the game
let me tell you something
Dojicat is going to run the game
like we've never seen before
Scarlett
I will
put the house on it
that she's selling it
least 200,000. I think that's just a given. So already by far, I'm saying that she's going to
outsell her previous first week record by two times, right? So with that being said,
let me get my real projection of where I think she's going to do. I think with Painted Town Red
and a bunch of these other singles on here that she's going to, you know, inherently promote,
I could see her doing 250 to 300,000 to 300,000 first week. And I think that's a modest projection.
obviously if she's not doing a bundle she could sell less but that's what i'm gonna project 250 to 300 000
first week she's by far gonna have the first week uh with the number one week is as far as first week
sales um so yeah i'm not really too worried about that i'm just trying to think of the projection
uh so at the end of the day uh doja cat is is is him is really is really one of them like
Oh, let me put it up here so y'all can see it.
This is what's going off of her first week sales.
So anyways, DojCat is really going to put up numbers that we've never seen as far as 2023 hip hop.
And no, I take that back because Travis Scott Astro World did pretty phenomenal.
So Doja Cat is going to do around that and probably a little bit under.
I think Travis Scott ended up selling, that's what I was trying to look up.
I forgot to look it up.
But anyways,
Astroir, I think, end up selling like $300,000-some-thousand-first week,
like $370,000, $360,000.
I think Doja Cat won't get to that number simply because of bundles.
But I do see her doing around $300,000 first week.
So anyways, let me see if there's anything else to get into it,
because there was a lot that I had written down.
Doja Cap mentioned her influences, influencers for the album,
basically like Erica Bond do John Coltrane in 90s hip hop while working on the album
I'm not gonna lie to you I believe that wholeheartedly if you listen to ballet I think that's what's
called B-A L-U-T I don't know if I'm pronouncing that right balut ballet I don't know man
it basically sounds like a 90s hip-hop theme it's like a boom bed beat where dojie cat
is giving straight bars like lyricism at its highest like
y'all gonna think i'm joking but ballet is literally one of the best rap songs i've heard in a in a while
as far as well as far as twenty twenty three let me not get crazy with it man twenty twenty three
ballad is one of the best rap songs of her doja cat is rapping in a braggadocia style to the point
of what she says let me tell you something that i really fear or um is anxious or she said it's so much
better now i'm explaining it right now but i'm basically telling you her fears and basically her biggest one
losing her diamond off of her toenail while she's performing.
I'm like, the way that she rolled that out,
it was like genius.
And rapping is wordplay at its finest.
And the way that Doja Cat did it throughout the whole Boom Bad Beat.
I mean, the beat wasn't nothing special.
It was Doja Cat really carrying it with her lyrical performance
to the point where I'm like, okay, that makes sense that you're inspired by Erica Badu
and the, you know, like, so that I'm surprised she didn't say like a Lauren Hill,
or something like that because she's really
she was really rapping over ballet
now obviously I ain't listened to the album
so I can't get no review of the album
but as far as ballot the single
she was given some heavy hitting bars
and um attention
paint the town red demons I mean
just shows the versatility
which is why a lot of people even myself included
like to call her the female
Drake because she gets into a pocket
where her versatility is literally
unmatched some people can sing
Some people can rap.
Doji Cat does both on the highest level.
And to promote an artist like this,
like I'm doing with her off-the-field antics,
that's what I'm calling it.
You have to believe me that I believe her music is just that fire.
Like some people are just so insanely talented
that they put up with all the off-the-court antics.
And Dojicat is just one of those artists.
So that's been said, that's basically it.
Yeah, I guess I can end this by saying that I do not
believe dojicat sold her soul to the devil but um i understand why people would say that because
of this marketing campaign for scarlet but keep in mind the same marketing campaign that you think she
sold her sold her to the devil for is the same one that keeps y'all coming back and listening time
and time again so why is that for me if i think somebody is blatantly worshipping the devil i'm not
going to listen to him or her right but i guess that's not the case with dojicat so um i'm very interested
to see how this marketing strategy comes to its conclusion, but I do feel like it's going to be
it's going to end on a high and she's going to end up getting like a very, very nice number
for her first week sales and go on tour to sell out arenas and things of that nature.
Even after cussing out her entire fan base, she's still on top of the rap game.
So anyways, click my link to your in my bio.
Let me know on one of my social medias.
