Featuring stunning diorama-like handcrafted 3D environments and a doll-inspired aesthetic, the remake streamlines narrative pacing while overhauling combat and adding essential quality-of-life features like auto-battle, speed toggles, and field insta-kills for weak enemies.Dive into the core gameplay: collect stone tablet fragments to restore lost islands through time travel, exploring present and past versions with integrated puzzle-solving and town-building mechanics where you recruit NPCs to upgrade your hometown. No multiplayer exists, but optional post-game superbosses await.Analytic Dreamz compares playtime metrics — main story now 40–50 hours (down from 100+ on PS1 and 75–80 on 3DS) — and covers the expanded content scope: 4–5 core party members (Hero/Auster, Kiefer, Maribel, Mervyn, Aishe), 20+ vocations from basics to advanced tiers, hundreds of monsters, 20+ major islands across dual timelines, side quests, casinos, and mini-games.The 2026 multiplatform launch (Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC) drove strong performance: ~457K physical units in Japan week 1 (Switch 178K, Switch 2 160K, PS5 119K), Steam peak at 27K concurrency, and a #4 UK debut — second-best franchise launch. Critics praise the visual overhaul, QoL improvements, and pacing (81–83 Metacritic, e.g., Nintendo Life 9/10), though some legacy fans debate story trimming and removed elements.Analytic Dreamz explores development by HexaDrive with Square Enix polishing, historical context from PS1 (4.1M worldwide) and 3DS versions, plus strategic takeaways: modernization prioritizes accessibility over maximal retention, broadening appeal beyond Japan's core market while dividing purists.Tune in for this comprehensive analysis of how Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined redefines a timeless epic for modern players.Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Now let me take you back to a time when I was just coming to planet Earth.
As when you look at the actual video game industry,
and safe to say, there's a lot of notorious mass effect type of games
that not only laid its foundation in the year of 2000,
but of course it's still seeing the fruits of that labor in today's age.
Give them some praise! Give them some praise! Give them some praise!
Give them some praise.
Now with that Drusky's Sottinger out of the way,
the main game that we're talking about for this specific segment
is, of course, Dragon Quest 7,
fragments of the forgotten past.
Now, if you don't know,
the 2000 version of this specific game
sold 4 million plus copies in Japan alone,
making it the best-selling PS-1 game there.
Of course, PlayStation for the little Timies out there.
PlayStation 1 was actually a thing so when it comes to that three hundred and forty
million dollars in revenue and of course they've been continuing it ever since then as
when you look at Square Enix as a whole obviously there's a lot of other franchises that
square Enix is known for but Dragon Quest is definitely a big accomplishment
under their belt especially when you look at how multiple games
have garnered and earned Square Enix 95 plus million as a company.
So getting into Dragon Quest specifically, it is nice to know, objectively,
that when you look at the analytical data, safe to say, Dragon Quest 3, Dragon Quest 11,
those were the games that sold the most as far as by units,
and then of course that's followed by Dragon Quest 9, Dragon Quest 7, and then of course,
Dragon Quest 8.
So I think I got
8 and 7 mixed up. 8 is above 7.
So Dragon Quest 7 is at 4.9
and Dragon Quest 9
and Dragon Quest 8 is at 4.9
and Dragon Quest 7 is at 4.3.
Now you probably thinking to you so.
Why are you going to all of this?
Why are you going over all this analytical data?
Will?
You guys.
I'm glad you ask.
As you know over here, we get into the gaming and music IPs
that notoriously affect the masses.
So of course, this is going to be more of a review roundup
and a sales roundup as well because i do like to dive into the industry and with square enix
and their notorious mass effect on the video game industry safe to say they're not going away
anytime soon and this in the latest project that is dragon quest three uh dragon quest seven
reimagined is the prime example so if you're not familiar with dragon quest just though it's a term
based jrpg originally released in 2000 of course for PlayStation but with the reimagined game
is currently on every single platform it is on nintendo switch switch two ps5 Xbox series x and s and of course
pc so with that being said i did want going off of that i did want to get into the actual sales of
dragon quest right now because it has not one not two not well yeah three essentially three so it has
top three slots as far as the best selling game on the nintendo platform analytic dreams video
on spotify to see the video along with the audio because right now as you can see these are all
different versions ladies and gentlemen you have the ps5 version you have the switch two version you have
the switch one version so you probably think it to yourself with which one is more popular well i'm
glad you ask as interestingly enough the switch version is still the most popular as of right now
even when i'm going through analytical data it's very interesting here
how you look at the overall units sold by hardware in the video game space and it's led by the switch two but then you realize lifetime sales is a real thing
not only does switch oled have nine million plus units across the world but the switch not the oled the original
switch has a whopping 20 million units out right now so safe to say switch two is going to take some
time to catch up so even with these numbers I think it's still pretty um it's still an
accomplishment for switch two players to even have close numbers to the switch and it has way more
hardware out there than the switch two so anyways uh with that being said the switch one version of
dragon quest seven reimagined is currently at number one as far as on the nintendo uh rankings
and of course it currently has 177 000 as far as total copies and then you look at dragon quest
7 reimagined for the switch 2 and it currently has 160,000 and then you can't forget the
p.s.5 version as dragon quest 7 reimagine currently have 118000 copies so basically i say all that this
i say all that to say this dragon quest 7 is performing phenomenally and you would like if you look at the
steam charts you wouldn't know the massive impact of a game like dragon quest because of course when you look at the
your analytical data of the Steam charts.
It has 6,000 players
playing right now with
a 24 hour peak of 12,000.
And the all-time
peak for the reimagined version
was 10 days ago at 27,000.
So safe to say, you guys.
People on Steam, people on console
probably don't even know the massive impact
of Dragon Quest. Why?
Because really, it got its
claim, it received and earned
its claim to fame in Japan alone
when it came out to
2000 with Dragon Quest 7 to PlayStation 1 version so that being said I did want to get back into the overview for people who are just completely
oblivious to what Dragon Quest is about so it's a term-based
JRP when you come to the overall streamlining of mechanics that's what the reimagined version is for
so when you look at this being a full ground-up remake it's not a remaster so that's why you know side tangent when I was covering the PlayStation event which was phenomenal
mind you, it was, it was phenomenal.
When I was covering the PlayStation event and Son of Sparta came up,
people were kind of upset because they wanted to see what the God of War remake was going to look like.
Because they didn't say, oh, we're just remastering the game.
They said they're remaking the game, meaning that you're building it foundationally from the ground up.
So now, when you look at this doing the same, safe to say there's a lot of changes.
there's the combat overhaul um i don't know what q o l means for additions what was oh it's quality of life
why why don't they spell it off they think i got tic-tok brain that's crazy quality of life editions
such as auto battle speed toggles uh field enemy insta kills and of course if you don't know about
the primary gameplay loop once again it's turn base but as far as collecting the stone tablet fragments
That's what you're going to be doing along with restoring the lost island via time travel.
Obviously, I'm not going to just spoil the game.
I'm just letting you know what you could look forward to if you decide to dive into Dragon's Quest.
So also, when you look at the puzzle solving integrated with a restoration mechanic, safe to say, that was also revamped.
And then, of course, the town building, such as recruiting, NPCs, populating slash upgrading your hometown, getting into the combat once again,
they updated animations with a term-based system, AI behavior upgrades, the monster hearts obtained
from elite foes providing passive buffs such as crit rate, dodge, etc.
And some of the things that people also want to know about as far as the reimagining
addition, there's moonlighting, which equipped two vocations simultaneously.
So I know for the average gamer that hasn't played Dragon Quest, you have no idea what that means.
But guess what?
that's why this is in there for those who actually play dragon quest because guess what y'all probably could do so with that information
so anyways um getting back into the game as far as runtime because you know everybody is not only trying to see if the game is good
but they're using the hard-earned time and one of the most valuable things on planet earth to play this specific game so not only are you spending money but you're also spending your time so when it comes to the time of dragon quest seven reimagined the main story is 40 to
50 hours, the main plus side quests will take you 70 to 80 hours.
And keep in mind, this is a rough ballpark.
If you're terrible at games or if you're excellent at games, it could vary.
But this is just the average runtime.
And then of course, for completion this out there, it would take you 100 plus hours.
So safe to say, there's a lot of content in this reimagined game.
Now as far as the core party size, you have four to five fixed characters.
The main cast is the hero, which is Austin.
kefir kiefer Maribel Marriven and I she Ieishi I don't know I should
Curry one way or a vocation there's 20 plus vocations is tier one basics such
as fighter slash cleric tier two hybrars such as paladin are mentalist armamentalist
I never heard I ain't never seen that word before tier three advanced God hand
as a hero so you know when you look at the game as a whole there's a lot to do you know
simply put there's a lot to do but of course i definitely wanted to go over some of the more
um popular revamped uh some of the more of revamped size of this specific game because of course
if you wanted to get into it and don't know anything about it that's essentially why we just had that
deep dive on what the reimagined change from the 2000 from the year of 2000 base game so i know it came out
a long time ago even for me like how you know it's if I really look at the month I may have not
even been on this earth actually let me see let me let me do some mickey research right quick
because I actually don't know what month this came out in dragon quest seven
oh I found it ladies and gentlemen all right so it says 2000 uh see I'm trying to see what
month I already know the year but uh oh hold on now I was on this earth so it came out
August 26th really you know as far as February 1st 2000 I assume I was because you know it had to
come out in January but y'all get the point all right so you know most of y'all watching this
probably wasn't even on this earth because if you're younger than me then guess what guess what
you wasn't on this earth so with that being said I did want to transition from that
into the actual review side of things but I did I want to make sure I didn't skip anything as far as
the sales because statistically speaking this game is performing well and you wouldn't know unless
you're an avid gamer like myself
or you pay attention to the charts.
Like myself.
Shepard.
All right, my fault.
So anyways, looking at the sales as far as a reimagined launch,
week one, already showed you the sales as far as Nintendo specifically.
But now let's look at Japan, as the physical sales in Japan was a total of $457,000.
Now, like I just said, the steam peak concurrency was at $27,000,
the second best launch for the franchise.
So I'm pretty sure Square Enix is sending back like, hold on now.
Maybe we should put out more reimagining of our popular games because guess what?
The Nintendo connoisseurs seems to love it.
And of course, you know, it probably isn't the greatest thing for new IPs out there
or up-and-coming IPs trying to make a name because if they could just put out a game
that came out in 2000 and just reimagine or just remake a lot of things,
safe to say they're going to keep doing it.
So if there's any old games out there that you want to reimagine,
make sure to hit those studios because now that Square Enix specifically,
now that they see the numbers that, you know, Final Fantasy 7 was one thing as far as remake.
But this one doing well out the gate just incentivizes even more for Square Enix to keep going with the reimagines.
So anyways, for comparison, when Neo3 came out, well, Neo3 is not a good comparison
because i don't even think neo 3's on uh nintendo so you know i'm not trying down neo 3 so let's not do
that so i think that was basically yeah so yeah so let's get into this uh review roundup
for dragon quest 7 and of course as far as a reimagined and um
i don't know if this is let me see this 2016 why they pull up the 2016 one world uh as far as the
2026 not the 2016 i don't know what in the world that came from uh but the the reviews are i'm not
going to say all over the place but i'm also not going to say it's just a straight-up masterpiece
people do have their quarrels and they're basically you know they have problems with this
specific game but at the for the most part a lot of people are giving this um i was going to say
one phrase but let's just say they're giving it a seven now as far as the number before that y'all
could put two and two together. But the average score seems to be a seven with IGN giving it a seven out of
saying quote, Dragon Quest seven reimagined delivers a better pace version of this 26 year old classic
while retaining its signature charm. But it also goes too far with some of its changes,
sanding down the experience of newer players at the expense of the challenge and discovery
I expect from the series. And then let's go to a higher score.
So, Nintendo Life, you know, they can't be biased.
You know what I'm saying?
Shepard.
All right, my fault.
Let me just read off.
Nintendo Life gave this a 9 out of 10 basically saying, quote,
our reviewer Mitch did have high praise for the many quality of life changes
scoring the Switch 2 release a 9 out of 10.
So that's more of a synopsis.
Obviously, the full thing is on the website.
So that's one of the higher scores.
Let me see if I could get a quote from one of the higher scores.
I want to see what they really saw on it.
Atomics gave it the 90 out of 100, basically saying, quote,
at the end of the day, Dragon Quest 7 reimagined is a great experience.
Okay, well, that's nice.
GameSpot gave it to 7 at 10, saying, quote, Dragon Quest 7 reimagined slims down and modernizes
notoriously.
Oh, okay.
I like the use of that word.
All right, my fault.
Notorously bloated classic RPG, though its anthology structure still feels overlong.
You guys.
See, that's the problem.
So as you can tell, the scores are not bad by any stretch of imagination,
but it's not the perfect game.
But obviously, gaming is so subjective that a 7 plus from major conglomerates across the board,
I think that's a success.
So at that being said, click my link to you in my bio.
Let me know on one of my social medias.
What do you think about the Dragon Quest 7 reimagined game currently topping the charts on Nintendo?
and at the end of the day will you be giving this jrpg turn-based game a try
