Starting point is 00:00:00 Some people say that I'm running third. They threw the bronze at me behind Drake and Dot. Yeah, them expedives is superstars to me. That line, ladies and gentlemen, will forever be ingrained in the hip-hop history books as one of the sorriest quotes from one of the greatest rappers of our generation, right? Because, of course, today's segment is simply talking about how the actual goat, help one of his counterparts achieve a certain height
Starting point is 00:00:36 that he would have never been able to do alone. And with that being said, I would like to let y'all know that Drake and Jay Cole's relationship compared to Jay Cole and Kendrick's relationship seemed to be a lot different, right? Jay Cole and Kendrick seemed to be a lot more supportive of each other's careers coming up.
Starting point is 00:01:00 But then, as I did more research, looking back into the past, I mean, J. Cole and Drake were literally buying each other CDs together in like your local best buy. Like if you look at videos of young Drake and J. Cole, you're going to probably run into a video where they bought a lot of hard copies for the fans to have them sign and they gave it out, right? So I'm saying all that to basically say this. Jay Cole throughout his illustrious career this is the first time that he's ever and I mean ever
Starting point is 00:01:38 which is still projected because it hasn't officially happened yet but at this point it's pretty much set in stone Jay Cole has finally received his first ever billboard number one hit of his career
Starting point is 00:01:52 with first person shooter now I know what you're saying that doesn't sound right Jay Cole definitely had a lot of tracks on the charts that he could have had go number one, right? Well, that's just further from the truth. I think the closest he got was number two. And I believe that was the record with Little Dirk. I had the list in front of me a while ago, but he had the number two with Little Dirk.
Starting point is 00:02:24 And then he had another track. I wonder if I could find that right quick. because the goal bringing him to these heights, like obviously, as you know, it's unprecedented for him, so I know he has to take it in stride. Okay. So basically, this is first number one ever, right?
Starting point is 00:02:47 And he's gotten close over the years, but as I pull it up, yeah, I can't find it. Oh, that's crazy. We're talking about, oh, okay. So all my life peaked at number two, in my life with J-Cold 21 Savage and Murray, or Murray, however he said, peaked at number two.
Starting point is 00:03:13 So that's the closest he ever got to a number one. So, of course, it's like when Drake didn't receive his first number one until God's plan. Like, he got close, of course, and he's been successful on the charts. But as far as number one, that's why I was so taken aback by Doja Cat's first week album sales, not to go on the side tangent, but to have to have. have the number one album or the number one song in the world is insane is an insane feat because out of all the songs that's released currently your song is being played the most in the world right
Starting point is 00:03:50 so when doja cat flop with her album that kind of surprised me but that's a whole segment for another day getting back on drake and j cole right i think this is a testament that On sentiments are correct because I believe that J-Co is one of the most overrated rappers of all time. Because to be top three, to rap like your top three, or not rap like a, to say that your top three and for your fan base to say your top three. But the statistics and overall cultural impact that you have, I believe is not even close to top three. I've given my top three as far as like most influential and impactful artists, right? Because I believe you have to bring something new to the game. And I really honestly feel like Jermaine is just a great value, Kendrick Lamar.
Starting point is 00:04:47 So with that being said, this is a great feat for him. I know for all the fans out there that finally wanted Jermaine to have some success, I'm glad that my artist was able to bring it to you because now I can forever hold that over your heads because Jermaine wasn't able to get a number one on billboard without the help and the guidance and the utmost control that he received from Drake. So with that being said, I know brought up Kendrick's name.
Starting point is 00:05:20 He reached number one with Humble and then the track with Taylor Swift called Bad Blood Remix, which I know y'all be like, he had a track with Taylor Swift. Yes, he did. It's way back. You got look it up, Bad Blood, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar straightfire.
Starting point is 00:05:35 Anyways, so he already had two number one. So it's so funny how out of all the people who are supposedly in the big three, this man's the only one without one. And to get number one, he had to use another person in the top three. I can't respect it. At the end of the day, Germain
Starting point is 00:05:51 takes another L, but my goat, of course, Drake was going to go number one regardless. So all kudos to the greatest ever. And for my Germain fans out there, just know. that your favorite rapper said on Heaven's EP, rapping over a Drake beat, I might add,
Starting point is 00:06:09 that he's behind Drake and Dot simply because those people are superstars to him. Or to him. Let me repeat that. He said verbatim. Some people say that I'm running third. They threw me to bronze behind Drake and Dot. Yeah, them expedives, is superstars to me.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Mm-mm. And with that being said, click my link tree in my bio let me know one of my social medias what do you think about j cole aiming for his first number one hit of his career on the hot 100 with first person shooter what do you think about this song obviously i'm gonna give my sentiments on the whole album in my next episode that's coming up pretty soon and uh with that being said i'm gonna repeat it click my link tree in my bio let me know in one of my social medias what do you think of this track and also for my germain fans out there how do you feel that that the only reason jaco received his first number one hit of his career was because drake was on it
