Starting point is 00:00:45 all right, my fault. Anyways, getting back into Elamay, main thing about Elam is that everybody seemingly enjoys her voice over instrumentation, right? So now when she's putting out another album, when you look at her discography, which I don't even have a pulled up. But her latest album that's set to come out,

Starting point is 00:01:03 titled, Do You Still Love Me? It's set to come out February 6, 2026. There's a lot of other things that's happening behind the scenes as far as Ella May because she's also going on a tour. And getting back into her upcoming album, the producer is, what I want. Yeah, the executive producer is Mustard,

Starting point is 00:01:27 which is the longtime collaborator. And, of course, you probably heard SOT 7, I mean, uh, white tank talk screaming that name from the top of his lungs. So with that out the way, the main thing with Ella May is that her album, her last album, came out 20, 23. More specifically, February 2nd, 20203. And that was the deluxe edition for Hard on my sleeve. Hard on my sleeve, the original version came out May 6th, 2022.

Starting point is 00:01:53 So when Ella May puts out an album, safe to say, a lot of people look at it and engage with it in a way that I don't think a lot of artists can accumulate without disappearing and coming back with a high quality body of work. Because if your first album, LMA came out October 12th, 2018, hard on my sleeve came out, May 6th, 2022, and not even another album, the deluxe edition, came out February 2nd, 2023, and now you're putting out an album, February 6, 2026. I love the separation in years as far as this particular artist. for hip hop artists, I do believe it's very apparent to stay relevant by any means necessary. But for R&B, R&B acts, I feel like your life experiences is harder to make high quality

Starting point is 00:02:45 I believe it's harder to make high quality R&B music about your life experiences than it is to make hip-hop music about your life experiences. Now, I'm open to being wrong because obviously when I talk about the little pumps of the world, I'm talking about a Nas level rap track about his life compared to what the world may bust your windows at your car well why am I blanking on that bust your windows uh Jasmine Sullivan and making a Jasmine Solomon type of track basically showcasing that Nause could make a completely great track about his life while rapping

Starting point is 00:03:23 and I just believe at the top of the top R&B peak beat beats out hip-hop peak when talking about your life. Now, why do I say that? I believe with Ella May, and I believe she's with Jason Tatum, a lot of things that she would be saying in the album could be elevated by the realness of her being seen with Jason Tatum. And you have to hear me out with this. You know, some R&B artists, it goes the opposite way,

Starting point is 00:03:47 where you're single and people want you in a certain relationship so they don't listen to your music. Or some artists are the opposite, because the music you make, your relationships really helps authenticate what you're saying on record as far as actual love so when you see people come and go usually people start to see through the smoking mirrors that they put in front of the real person behind the scenes and i always say my favorite artists of all time whether there's drake russ bickshan they put their life into the music and then let the people judge so

Starting point is 00:04:20 what that being said um elam putting out her technically her third album and this is going to going to be a very interesting album in my opinion because i'm very much looking forward to it um like i said apparently is 14 tracks is going to be put under 10 summers in endoscrope records when it comes to the tour that did you miss me uh anniversary tour is a total of six six shows am I tripping six shows I didn't want to do this but I'm at the pocket watch

Starting point is 00:04:53 hold up now Ella how do you spell her name see Ella let me see first week sales I gotta do it because six shows

Starting point is 00:05:04 don't sound right to me especially for a hiatus right let me just type in career let me see a career first week don't tell me she don't sell a lot because we're going to be

Starting point is 00:05:19 gonna figure this out i think she does sell a lot right or did she did she disappear because she didn't sell a lot because i know she had booed up but how long ago is that um okay so debut album okay we're not talk about that uh you guys see that's the problem ladies and gentlemen it's not all about numbers let me let me let me go back into that right just because you sell a lot does not mean you make high quality and just because you don't sell a lot does not mean you make the most abysmal the most egregious. All right. Y'all get the point, right?

Starting point is 00:06:00 The two don't correlate. The main thing about Elimee is that her first week sales are very bad for the continuation of Elamay. 2018, she sold $69,000 first week. In 2018, I think those are solid numbers. 2022, she follows that up with heart on my sleeve.

Starting point is 00:06:17 I enjoyed that album. I don't know what happened. I kid you not. I kid you not. You guys. See, that's the problem. This is why I'm like, you know, when you talk about sales in that manner, when you talk of sales in this type of manner where you're talking about like the way the engagement wasn't meeting her quality, I think it's a

Starting point is 00:06:38 disservice to the artist. I think LMA is a fantastic singer. You know, obviously, you know, a lot of people are going to be like, man, she's fine and stuff like that. But the main thing you need to know is that she can actually sing. You know, a lot of people look at certain people who get to certain points because of the looks. And I think LMA is like actually talented from a singing perspective and when people sing it's easier to tell the real singers as far as the different notes that they hit and how they use her voice as the instrument so i know y'all are going to say i'm glazing and to that you know i'm keeping eight more than 92 because i brought up her sales if i wasn't keeping eight more than 92 i wouldn't even look that up yeah her sales are abysmal for uh 22 i would

Starting point is 00:07:17 assume she's going to sell more than 20,000 but goodness gracious i don't know i just saw summer walker flop well technically flop with like a 70,000 first week sales and I think that was um I thought she was going to do Cardi B like numbers so I was wrong before in the other way as far as thinking summer was going to do more than she actually did hopefully I'm wrong in this way as far as thinking LMA may do around 20 to 30,000 and hopefully she ends up doing more because um yeah that threw me all the way off I was like wow what six because okay so to bring it full circle six shows makes me believe that the demand for your live appearance isn't as much, right? Especially when you look at the venues. Like, if it's six shows at huge venues and it's only six, seems like I could be going

Starting point is 00:08:05 out on a limb, but it seems like you can't sell out that specific place a lot of times. So you have to pick and choose when you come, where you come, and ultimately that limit the amount of of venues because now if there's not a high demand for you anyway you got to make it look like there's a high demand by only doing select shows at certain places so anyways without all being said basically she's coming back for six shows uh December 7th she's going to be in the UK December 9th she's going to be in Amsterdam Netherlands December 11th she's going to be in Paris France December 14th she's going to be in Atlanta Georgia December 15th she's going to be in New York New York December 17 she's going to be in

Starting point is 00:08:48 Los Angeles, California. And when it comes to this tour, it's her first tour since the 2023 album, Heart on My Sleeve Tour. So hopefully I'm wrong about the sales. Sales don't mean everything, but I would be remiss not to bring it up, especially since we cover the charts. And of course, the entire effect of the masses by these different artists. And Ella May definitely, she's definitely not there as far as from a first week sales standpoint. So hopefully this is the album to bring her back. to hopefully what she did with her first album that sold around 69,000 first week.
