Now, of course, when you look at Fable, safe to say that it is one of the more anticipated video games of 2026.
So overall, the highlight of the Xbox Developer Direct being Fable was no surprise to anyone.
So, of course, we're going to get into the gameplay overview.
We're going to get to what they were saying about the game.
The Fable part is 10 minutes and 53 seconds.
We may not get into the entire thing because, of course, I have specific things.
as I want to point out.
But of course, getting into the overview
before we dive into the gameplay
specific deep dive.
Safe to say, this game is developed
by playground games known for as a horizon.
Man, they've been busy.
We just covered them.
And then this reboot of the classic RPG series
is beloved by many.
It was first announced in 2020.
And of course, with it being 2026,
in the expansive universe
that they are promising.
Safe to say that they've used every single year
to build upon this game.
So if you're not familiar with Fable,
just know that it's an open world,
it's an RPG in every sense of the word,
in every sense of the word.
And basically, the developers are able to show you
more than I can explain it
because it's so expansive as an RPG
that we'll be here for hours.
If I sat down, told you everything about Fable,
and what it was great at.
And they did it in 10 minutes and 53 seconds.
But what I will see is, as far as the release date,
you know, I always say,
if they give a broad month followed by the year,
I do not believe that that is indicative
of the game actually coming out in that time.
I believe, especially when you have a major backer
with a lot of money being thrown at you as far as the studio,
I believe that that's a deadline.
That is a deadline for the developers.
I'm not going to say it's a crunch, but it's basically get the game stable enough,
optimize enough to get it out in some time in autumn.
So I feel like if it was a set release date,
they would have us the actual month and day.
Because it just said autumn 2026,
I believe it could either get pushed back or it could come out sooner.
So I'm not saying either or.
I'm just saying autumn 2026 is never like,
a set date. They can always
fluctuate and it's basically
more for the developers
to let y'all know, hey, this is a time
period that the stockholders,
the stakeholders, want the game
out on. So I don't think
Auto 2020 is, 2026 is for the fans.
So anyways, with that out the way,
Fable is apparently coming at
autumn 2026 on Xbox series, X-Ns,
PC, Xbox
Play Anywhere,
PS5, Xbox Cloud,
game and goodness and day one or Xbox game ultimate and no sadly it's not coming to the Nintendo
Switch. Shepard just look at the state of gaming like what is going on I was just thinking to
myself man maybe the Nintendo Switch can run fable now I'm lying I wasn't thinking that so anyways
let's get into the overview for fable gameplay right now fable is playground's first open world action
RPG and we couldn't be more proud to be carrying on the work of the legendary Lionhead
Studios the original creators of the franchise and although our game is a new beginning i think
what we're making is really faithful to the spirit of the classic lionhead trilogy that we all love
the heart of our game is a simple recurring question what does it mean to you to be a hero
our game is about choices and their consequences it's packed with action or
drama, British humor, moral dilemmas, and quite a few chickens.
All of this combines in a fairy tale which could only be fable.
In classic fable fashion, you begin the game as a child,
growing up in the sleepy rural village of Briar Hill.
It's here that in a moment of extreme danger,
your heroic powers first emerge,
and we discover that you are Albion's first hero in a generation.
All right, my trouble, he control a little girl.
Wonderwell.
My fault, TikTok, I tick-tark, I wasn't in pain since you.
Like, come on now.
You guys.
You guys.
Oh, okay, so you start out as a child, okay.
So you probably could customize that.
In a moment of extreme danger, your heroic powers first emerge.
And we discover that you are Albion's first hero in a generation.
But not long afterwards, disaster strikes.
Dang.
People of your village, including your beloved grandma,
are turned to stone by a mysterious stranger.
That ain't not grandma. Come on, man. They couldn't leave grandma alone. That's crazy.
Whole time grandma just trying to enjoy her, you know, I don't know what she'd be in, you know,
she's trying to enjoy her apple pie and came out for a little stroll across the village and got turned in the stone, man.
You guys. Crazy. See, that's the problem. That's wild.
Suddenly alone in the world, you'll set off on an adventure which will change Albion forever.
Venturing out into the world is a huge moment because this is Albion like you've never seen it before.
Idylic rolling hills, magical forests, bustling villages,
very expansive overworld,
oversized vegetable patches and stunning vistas.
And because our Albion is truly open world for the first time,
you'll be able to explore this rich and detailed world seamlessly,
with the freedom to go where you want from early in the game.
in the game. We can't wait to welcome you back to Albion's iconic capital city Bowerstone.
Home to Fairfax Castle, the old clock tower, and the legendary Heroes Guild.
Hey, she's talking like she's in the game.
Full of contrasts, rich and poor, nobles and commoners, royalty and criminals. You'll spend plenty
of time here during the game as you discover the secrets of the Heroes Guild and its
reclusive guildmaster, Humphley the Golder.
In the north of Albion, you'll find mountains, craggy coastlines, spooky marshes,
and the bleak, wind-swept city of Bloodstone.
Here you'll meet the leaders of two rival gangs vying for power
and uncover the secrets of the sinister but extremely well-organized,
cult of shadows.
Our Albion is beautiful, hand-crafted, and richly detailed.
In Albion, heroes are special, different.
They're stronger than regular people.
They're more skillful, more charismatic, more importantly,
they're those rare humans who can harness and use magic in the world around them.
They have the power to do what they want.
And so do you.
In our game, we want you to play as the hero you want to be.
And that starts with being able to choose how your hero character looks.
So, in Fable, you'll be able to pick from a range of different character heads.
and customize your clothing.
I wonder, have you been able to do that in past fable games
or it's just the first one?
Because I think that's a pretty big feature.
Hair, skin tone, tattoos, and scars.
So the hero you play represents you.
But as well as your appearance,
you can be the hero you want to be
through the way you play,
through the skills and abilities you learn,
and through the weapons you use.
Just like the classic trilogy,
heroes in our game fight with a combination of strength,
skill, and will.
seamlessly blending
melee enraged weapons with magical abilities
gives us
style weaving combat
ah okay so basically uh you had a little bit
of customization but not a lot as far as hair
beard uh hairstyles beers
tattoos etc
uh hair makeup tattoos
and hair makeup clothing
so I think this may be the first fable
where you can just like from top to bottom
as far as a build
completely cut.
customize your character, which, you know, that's a W.
Shout out the fable for that.
You know, I'm not, I'm not going to bring up, you know, my favorite game of all time,
but I'm just saying, you know, I'm not going to bring up my favorite game, you know.
Shepherd.
No, I ain't going to say it.
You know, I'm not going to say it from the start.
I'm not going to say that.
Shepard.
Because, you know, I mean, why should I say that?
You know what I'm saying?
You're right.
Let me get back to it.
My fault.
I'm not trying to, you know.
You guys.
Let's get back into the video.
To show off your personal, please stay on.
against single opponents and large groups of enemies alike.
Meeley is at the heart of our close quarters combat.
You'll use light and heavy combos,
often knocking enemies off balance and executing stylish finishers.
Hey, that may go on crazy, isn't it?
To bypass enemy guard.
What an expedition?
And deal with troublesome flying enemies.
And of course, you'll be able to unleash your powerful spells
to both manipulate and devastate new opponents.
We're excited to be bringing back some fan favorite episodes for you to fight.
Oh, hobs are back.
It seems like it's more comedic.
And trolls.
Those sound effects do not sound like it's going to be a very serious game.
Except for that one, that was sounded pretty.
Like this fearsome coquettress, a giant fire-breathing chicken.
Each enemy family is different.
You're fighting a huge chicken.
It's just game definitely not taking this stuff seriously.
I understand.
But with all the unique tools in your combat toolbox,
how you defeat your enemies is up to you.
Solid.
I like it.
But there's more to being a hero in Albion than fighting,
so much more.
When we talk to people about their favorite memories
of the original games, so many of their stories
about the stuff you can do when you weren't just being a hero.
The normal, everyday stuff, which happened
when you interacted with the people of Albion.
For me, what I remember most vividly,
are the inhabitants of Albion,
and the things you can do with them,
or to them.
The crazy thing about the classic fable games
was that in the middle of a sprawling RPG
was almost a complete other game
where you could just mess around
with the villagers and townsfolk.
And we've built that same experience
in the middle of our game too,
buying a house,
getting a job, making some money.
Romancing a villager,
getting married, having kids.
Uh-oh, romance.
You already know.
All right.
It's a PG podcast.
Try and see a date.
Perfect.
You can get to know me better.
That's it.
That's all it take.
But then, you know what I'm saying?
I was like, damn.
You have a bunch of Nick Cannis running around Fable.
That's crazy.
Shepherd.
Just look at the state of gaming.
Like, what is going on?
Buying another house.
Buying every house in Albion.
Buying every business now being getting rich.
Marrying a bunch more people.
Having a bunch.
A bunch more.
A bunch.
A bunch more people.
I guess it's not.
I guess it's not illegal.
But man.
You get kids too?
How many kids can you have?
Can you populate the village with your kids with your children?
Can you be Batman?
Huh.
Much more kids.
Probably getting divorced along the way for good measure.
And this game within the game is unique to Fable.
It's systemic, interconnected, and you'll see the ripple effects.
I'm not going to thoroughly entertain.
I'm thoroughly entertained.
I ain't skipped one bit of this.
And all of this revolves around the people who live in Albion,
who we call the living population.
There are more than a thousand of them,
and every single one is unique.
Each of them has a name, a role, a daily routine,
and their own personality.
Oh yeah, you could definitely turn it in Nick Cannon.
You could follow any one of them for a day.
And just watch them.
and live their life.
They'll get up, go to work, spend some leisure time on hobbies, then go home to bed.
Oh yeah, kiss your real life goodbye.
You know what I'm saying?
Hey, you say you want an actual life when Fable come out?
You say you want an actual life as a gamer in 2026?
Woot need do.
And we beat these folk.
What do we beat them.
We go forward.
Boy, me, I ain't seen the video game slate for 2026 and now Fable, I'm not going to cap.
You may have to kiss the real life goodbye, man.
You guys.
Anyways, let's get back to it.
It's that you can talk to every single one of them in fully voiced conversations.
Crazy.
And interact with them in loads of different ways.
That's W.
Maybe the job they go to is working for you because you hired them to work in one of your businesses.
Hey.
Hey.
And you could be a mogul.
How can I help you both?
Maybe the bed they sleep in is in a house you own because you're the landlord.
Or maybe their bed is on the street.
because you evicted them.
All right?
Oh, it's you.
You're awful.
And all of the stuff you do affects what they think of you.
You're a legend.
Because everything you do builds your reputation.
Very impressive.
Now that's an error right there.
Morality has always been super important to Fable.
That tension between good and evil
underpinned all of the original games.
And morality is central to our game too.
to our game too, but we have a slightly different take on it.
For us, morale.
What's that chicken do?
Am I tripping?
Is that chicken an enemy?
Or just kicking chickens for fun?
Shouldn't pee his step in or is that just for it?
I don't know.
He isn't black and white.
There are lots of gray areas.
And importantly, morality is subjective.
No two people
see things exactly the same way.
And that's how it works in our game too.
Everything you do earns your reputation.
And every person in Albion will have a different reaction to you as a result.
Hello there.
Yeah, yeah, we get it. You're rich.
Oh, goodness.
You do directly to them.
They'll love you or hate you for the choices you make,
and they will always tell you why.
Although, usually from a safe distance.
Our game will never judge you.
But the people of Albion will.
Mm.
Sound fire to me.
You want him, no?
Why he ain't turn around?
No, bro.
If you run that kingdom, you got to turn around.
But hold on, let me hear it one more time.
I said, you know, let me hear it one more time.
You guys.
Walk around like I ain't really him.
And somebody say that, be like,
I know that ain't who I think it is.
I know that ain't who I think it is.
You have to get to it, man.
Because you ain't got powers.
I do.
Anyways.
It's created by the choices you make, and you are going to make a lot of them.
Big choices, little choices, moral choices, and some choices that will actually change the landscape of Albion for the rest of your game.
We call this idea, your choices change the world. Let's give you an example.
Early in the game, you'll meet a character named Dave, an egotistical gardener in a rural village who discovers a magical growth formula.
he accidentally turns himself into a giant and becomes a big problem
it'll be your job to deal with him and ultimately will be your choice whether to kill him
or to spare him right kill him kill him or spare him i thought that was going to say something else
is that not a spoiler is that not shouldn't that been like he kept for the game or maybe they're
trying to be like we got so much content we don't care to give you that humongous spoiler pun intended
his giant corpse will lie on the farmland just outside of town for the rest of the game
Oh, dang, that's him dead.
Wow.
So you could be a murder.
Crazy.
And that is going to affect house prices.
It will also affect what a lot of the villagers think about you,
especially Dave's sister.
In fable, the choices you make will define you.
What does being a hero mean to you?
Oh, man, that man will spoil everything.
The choices of the villagers think about you,
especially Dave's sister.
That man, spoil everything.
What, Dave sister?
She got powers?
That's the whole, that's the only question I'm
masking walking around the town. Like somebody
says something to me, but hey, bro, you got you got powers
and not, bro. See, that's what I'm saying. I run
stuff. Do you have powers?
No?
Just shut up.
It'd be like the real
homelander, you know what I'm saying? I'll be the
homelander fable.
You ain't got powers?
Oh, that's too bad.
Off with his head. Yep, go get them.
In fable, the choices you make will define you.
What does being a hero mean to you?
At playground games, we've built
a pedigree for beautiful and
immersive open world experiences.
Yes, they've typically involved sports cars,
but this is a passion project for all of us here.
Every member of this team, which we've built from scratch,
has two key things in common.
A deep love for the-
That's skill tree?
I mean, that's skill tree, but you know, a branching timeline
to try and show the choices and the connecting outcome.
Pretty cool.
Guys.
Maybe there's something out.
Is that something else?
You know, I'm not game dev.
I just ignorantly went.
It looked like a choice tree.
Maybe I'm tripping.
Burning desire to bring it back.
We're making this for Fable fans just like us,
but also to introduce Fable to gamers
have never played the series before.
It's been great to finally tell you
a little about the game we're making.
There'll be much more to share
as we get closer to our launch.
I'm excited to tell you today
that Fable is coming to Xbox, PC,
and PlayStation in autumn
2026.
From all of us here,
Thanks for watching.
I'm not going to lie.
I'm not going to lie to you, boy.
I'm not going to lie to you.
That was cinema.
Shepard.
Just look at the state of gaming.
Like, what is going on?
And I'm being so serious when I say that.
I really enjoyed that whole gameplay walkthrough.
As you can tell, I was thoroughly enjoying that.
I believe, especially with me being a RPG connoisseur, you know,
I don't know if y'all can tell what my favorite game is.
You know, I really don't make it clear with the podcast title or what I got
You know what I'm saying?
You get the point.
Basically, the main thing I want to say is me being a huge RPG connoisseur,
I don't like when games give you the illusion of choice.
They'd be like, oh, this is a scenario.
You want to do A, B, C.
And then A would be like, look left.
B would be like, look a little to the left.
And then C would be like look completely left.
Like, hold up now.
They ain't what a choice-based game is supposed to be.
You're supposed to be like, oh, you could go this way, that way, that way.
And they have vastly different outcomes.
right you know so the illusion of choice always just bugged me as a connoisseur of phenomenal
RPGs to where i like and usually i can spot when the RPG is about to go the correct route
of a role-playing game as far as letting you actually choose your own adventure instead of you doing
a bunch of thing and then they all lead up to the same thing so um yeah with that being said hey it was
phenomenal man uh you know that was that was phenomenal not going to lie to you that was phenomenal
So like I said again back into the release date
We do not know exactly when this game's gonna come out
But safe to say that they are saying
That Fable is set to come out autumn 2026
Do of that what you will
Autumn 2026
Xbox series X-NS PC and then of course
PS5 so
Oh yeah also if you do have the game pass is day one on the game pass ultimate
So that being said click my link to your bio
Let me know on one of my social medias
What do you think about the fable gameplay
overview and at the end of the day as an RPG connoisseur do you believe fable if it ends up coming
out in 2026 do you believe it'll be the best RPG in 2026
