When you go to sleep, you just hear somebody be like, Kendrick Lamar.
No, but here's this funny about you and Kendrick Lamar.
It's like, people forget you had him on Take Care.
You had him on Buried Alive.
You talked about a meeting that you guys had where you kind of were schooling him on the game.
And there's a great line about how he realized he's the same age as you.
And it made him rude and impatient.
So it's almost like it's very foreshadowing, you know, he ended up making a great record,
Good Kid Madd City.
A phenomenal album, by the way.
A phenomenal album.
Yeah, round of applause.
And then now he takes a competitive stance with averse like control.
And then you said that, you know, he's not murdering you in any platform.
But, you know, that's where that robbery, that's where people want to try to build,
that's if you want to try to build a robbery.
Like what's your take on that?
Do you feel like they're trying to create a competition that he's not on your level because
of your accomplishments?
Like, do you feel like they're trying to hype this up and elevate it too much?
No, I feel like that's it.
It's like, you know, he's a different.
he's the new guy of love and of course I mean rightfully so he's super talented you know but thank you
but he's but he's like you know he is the underdog that's extremely hungry you know what I'm
saying and and he's doing his thing really well and that verse was he's giving people like moments you know
it seems like now giving people moments the reoccurring theme throughout this
whole future in Metro highly anticipated joint album we don't trust you it's just going to be
going at Drake as not a good marketing strategy all but just keep saying it because
Drake has had a hand in a lot of people's success that people don't even realize behind the scenes to the
point where going at him inevitably inevitably means that your career is going to have a downward
trajectory. It's a one artist that's went against Drake and in the aftermath the next three to four
years their career win the upward trajectory. Of course not. Push your T literally won the lyrical
exposing battle and look at where he is today. So as far as the masses, if you don't care
about impacting the charts and have a longevity, then go at Drake.
But for one of my favorite and who I have as the best modern day rapper ever and one of
the best rappers of all time, which is Kenjik Lamar, we have to get into this track because
he definitely gave us a lot to talk about.
So like that, off of Future of Metro's joint hours.
album out now on all DSPs we don't trust you he has some pretty interesting things to say
and this is where I blame Jermaine Cole fans because if it wasn't for you a mediocre rapper
coming out and letting this man have all the ammo in the world this will not be possible
there's a reason why Drake said like a kid acting bad from January to November is she's
you and Cole and there's a reason why the person who's not used to having hits like Drake said
and name dropped the person who's not even on the track people wondering about the big three is a
k-doc is it is it Drake isn't me but really I'm like Muhammad Ali like naming somebody who's not
on the track in the same lane as a person who you know is in that is on that track it's just it's just
blasphemous. Like, why are you name dropping somebody giving him ammo to go at you?
Because now you can never refute what you just say. You just say he's in the top three.
Now you can't be for them at all. Drake didn't say nothing about Kendrick being in the top three ever.
So, Jermaine out here, you know, doing what he does, which is just ultimately showcasing why he's
one the most, not one, the most overrated rapper of all time. So him showcasing that gave
Kendrick all the ammo he needed. So that is basically what.
Kendrick pinpointed and basically targeted throughout his verse basically saying and kicking it off
saying that forget the big three it's just me like that's basically it like he basically and in
he really ain't wasting any words what he was trying to say he said he already he prefaced it by saying he
chose violence right and i think he did that for a reason because they're saying it's a big three
it's just big me literally that was it that was the bar that has everybody up
and the frenzy going crazy like it was just the most masterful bars ever right but the thing about it is
is the delivery and i always said that the thing about kendrick that puts him above the rest as far as
the modern day generation and rap is considered is his vocal inflection very reminiscent of little
wayne but combine that with the ability to rap like j z now you have kensrik lamar which is one of the
greatest rappers of all time vocal inflection is something that it's just not even close like
leaps and bounds above the next best which i would say the next best as far as having lyricism
and also vocal inflection with uh impacting the masses because i know somebody's just going to say
some random battle rapper that nobody listens to outside of his battle raps but as far as lyrically
and replayability and vocal inflection is considered kendrick is one couple of spaces down and then
you have nicky i think nicky's the second best ever at using vocal
inflection and a way that enhances her lyrical ability so with that being said
Kendrick lamar was all over the place when it came to vocal inflection just showcasing why he's
number one so it really adds to the track because it's not the words he was saying it was delivery
it was the beat it was everything not going to lie to you there's a reason why kentry's the best at
rapping so and the reason i say that the reason why i say the best at rapping because i'm gonna get into
in a second you know we gotta break this down because this is a pivotal
moment hip-hop history because this doesn't happen too often because he basically name dropped him
without saying their name but everybody knows who he's talking about because he literally said first
person shooter who made first person shooter literally last year Drake and jacob so he said forget sneak
distance this basically where started so this one you know because he kind of prefaced at the beginning
of his verse you know people talking at the next uh i choose violence what was the who was the melly one
Yeah, he said, forget rap.
I'll diss Millie Mel if I have to.
Basically, letting you know that he's about to go crazy.
Like, he's about to let you know that this is really not serious as for the love of the sport,
which is why he basically said he would dismal, melimel, if he had to, which, because, you know, there's no reason.
So he's basically just letting you know this for the sport.
So it's nothing too serious, but he's about to go at them.
So after prefaceing that, he finally gets into his bars, right?
He says, forget the Big Three.
It's just big me
Your best work is a light pack
Prince outlived Mike Jack
It's an expeditive
But you know PG podcast
So it's an expeditive bum
For all the dogs getting buried
That's a K with all these nines
He gone see Pet Cemetery
I'm just overwhelmed
I'm not overwhelmed
I'm not underwhelmed.
I'm just whelmed.
Like, it's a solid verse.
People are blowing it way out of proportion because it's Kendrick.
And of course he deserves it.
One of the greatest modern day rapper of all time.
But when it comes to the overall musical aspect,
him comparing himself to Prince.
I mean, somebody has to say it.
It's just straight blasphemous.
Like, if anybody's to be compared to Prince and hip-hop,
is Mr. West.
Like, come on now.
Kanye West is the only,
actual person you could compare to Prince when it comes to just the overall message and the overall
production.
So when you talk about these hip-hop rappers comparing themselves to Prince, it's just very,
very egregious and should never be done, even by Kendrick.
So that should be saying something as far as the praise I give to Prince.
But anyways, I see what he was going at as Michael Jackson had more commercial appeal.
Drake obviously has more commercial appeal.
which is not even close.
So now they can't talk about numbers.
So now what they're going to talk about?
Something that's subjective, which is quality.
Quality is something that in music is very subjective, so now you can move the goalpost.
Oh, I'm outlive you because my music's better.
Well, that's subjective.
You know what's not subjective?
How many number ones do you have that's encapsulated the masses?
Usually that's a pretty good litmus scale and what people prefer as far as listening
to the rest of the musicians.
And people chose Drake nine times out of ten.
you know maybe he had your one when you outsold him back when he put out more life and you had damn
but hence the idol uh hence that album title you ain't had nonsense like come on man like as far as
topping the goat you haven't had any statistical uh accomplishment over drake since so anyways
now we got to move the goalpost and just talk about quality right and how it comes from the soul
and how everybody gravitates to it because it comes from the soul,
even though Drake had three number ones off of one album that he just put out last year.
Anyways, so back to Jermain, which is the main reason why Kendrick has ammo in the first place.
Saying that forget the big three is just me is, I mean, it's just stock value.
There's no other way to say it, which is very concerning for me that this is the main.
point for kendrick coming at the track because it's like people bring up all the time how kendrick lamar is not
battle tested in the rat field which i think is kind of blasphemous because anytime big sean
has a inkling of an ounce of momentum kendrik tries to step on it like j z does nause i've been
saying this throughout the time of me covering hip hop with the notorious mass effect i've noticed that
lyrically kendrick has pinpointed big shan as the one to actually have some type of uh challenge to
him which is why he steps on him every single time hence why i compare that to j z stepping on
a nods so with that out the way it's interesting why he doesn't go at big shan but he drops a verse
the same day as big sean drops his single but i'm really not putting too much on that because
technically it's on the album he can't really decide when the album comes out future metro puts out an
album at a certain date i mean big shan just chose to use that date as a single like i don't really put
too much into that as far as the release date but i do think that him putting up that post on his
instagram way back um i covered it when i covered the big shan uh track clarity well it wasn't a track
but basically the clarity promotion thing
Kendrick Lamar had an IG post
that he put up right after Big Sean
was making all his rounds
and the reason why I'm bringing up Big Sean's for a reason
it's because Germain Cole out here
Germain Cole fans out here
is all delusional thinking Kendrick
is even in the slightest worried about
Germain and what he could do lyrically he's not
so Big Sean is the person
that he's pinpointed as the most
as the biggest threat
to him being seen as the best rapper
because i think big shan's the one that could go at him so let me see it was an iG post um let me see
yeah showing stuff from from 2021 so that's not that's not good um let me see
i have to find this because it kind of makes sense i mean if you go to my you know big sean clarity
notorious mass effect i pulled it up there but i wanted to pull it up again just to reiterate
my point because kensik lamar really doesn't post so when he comes out with a post
and he's basically talking about how
I can't find a post
anyways
Kendrick
in this track
in this verse obviously stole the show
like it's not even close like he's the one
who everybody came to
to hear some type of lyricism
off of this album right
so when that one minute and 52 second
mark hits everybody's tuned in
in a different way
because future you just put on listen to it in the background and Kendrick when the real lyricist comes on a
a beat you pay more attention to it so now people are just running with every bar like he really
says something but i think it's really just for the love of the sport and hopefully it's just
in a way that is just purely for sport and nothing more because if the best thing you have to
come at um with drake is uh prince outlive mike jack which is a crazy blasphemous comparison
and for you all your dogs getting buried that's a k-well these nines he's gonna see pet cemetery
i mean i guess you know if that's what you have then you know that's concerning
because it's like it's not beef but at the end of the day you know you would think you'll come
off something better i mean there's so many ways i mean if joe budding
didn't show you one thing when he was rapping it was definitely how to come at Drake I mean he had all
type of I mean he said he'll kill a Graham without weighing a thing like come on now that's the
hardest bar I've heard targeted towards Drake ever this man's name last name is Graham y'all can't do
something more creative than talking about for all the dogs like it's just sad but anyways it's
it's the greatest rapper of the modern generation that's why it's concerning because it's like
dang like Drake may really be invincible in this rap game
sad day but when uh drake responds best believe it's going to be more than a a light jab for the
competitive nature it's going to be very very uh hitting to the core it's probably going to be something
where drake uh kendrick has to respond because you already know when you have certain uh prospects
as far as the top three rappers you you have contingency plans on some batman type beat
set aside just the case he wants to pop out and say something crazy so i already know drake has
something coming for him. I can't wait to hear what it is. He's probably going to pinpoint how
you know, Kendrick Lamar always raps about his uncle, big cousin's life and not his.
So that's probably what he's going to exploit. But if you didn't know that, just you probably
will when Drake starts rapping. So anyways, what else? That was basically it. Yeah, so Jermaine
fans out there, this is all on y'all. The only reason he had ammo, you see he didn't go
at anything Drake said. It was just basically talking about the album title and comparing
himself to Prince, which both of them was just mediocre and very well. It just left me very
overwhelmed. So anyways, at the end of the day, click my link to your in my bio. Let me know one of my
social medias. What do you think about Kendrick's verse off of like that? And what is your take away
from it? And what is your favorite part of his verse off of like that? And do you think that
Drake and Jay Cole should respond?
