Starting point is 00:00:00 Shepard promise me you'll tell them to subscribe for ad free content now let's go back a decade to the year 2015 I know that ain't who I think it is we're the one and only Gunna met King slime through a mutual connection that goes by the name of Keith King troop I know that ain't who I think it is and then we come to 2016 and you see Gunna featuring on Young Thug's album Jeffrey right little bit there young thug know that he had a star on his hands. But then, you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop. Like, what's going on?
Starting point is 00:00:35 As of course, Young Thug expeditiously created YSL the label with 300 entertainment. And of course, in February 2017, Gunna officially signed to YSL. But then ladies and gentlemen, you guys, then that's when all you know what broke loose. But then, you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop. Like, what's going on? As of course, you already know Young Thug's whole fight with Farnie Willis and just the justice system in general to the point where...
Starting point is 00:01:14 Who do they do? And we beat these folks? Who do we beat them? We go for them. You know, that's supposed to be my snitching drop. I don't know why I keep playing Young Thug. But anyways, a Young Thug jail call from 2025 came out. And apparently from Young Thug himself, he said he spent 50 years.
Starting point is 00:01:30 thousand dollars buying streams i was like hold up now ain't that illegal shepherd my fault let me stop snitching myself so anyways he spent 50 thousand street uh 50 thousand dollars buying streams for ds forever to debut number one over the weekend now of course this is from young thugs mouth you know what i'm saying pause this is not for me i'm not snitching i'm just letting you know what young thug privately told the world so anyways When it comes to Gunna, he publicly, in the year of 2020, you got to stick with me because his timeline is for a reason. In 2020, he publicly gifted Young Thug $100,000 in cash for his birthday. And that was in the midst of Gunna going stupid.
Starting point is 00:02:24 He absolutely lost his mind from the years of 2017 to 2025. So what happened for October? ninth to come around and gunna end up leaving young thug high and dry i just don't like it man crazy man i just don't like that shit man now when you look at young thug and gunner's relationship you come to realize that gunna ultimately was hanging around certain individuals that may or may not have been abiding by the law but once he all got caught you know the first thing he went to do you know the first thing he went to do who do need he do and we beat he folk
Starting point is 00:03:05 who do we beat in the only reason why I'm saying I can't respect it is because when you combine with certain individuals that you know the behind the scenes of and how they may or may not receive certain revenue and monetary benefits whether it be law-abiding or not and then you come to be a part of the cause and effect
Starting point is 00:03:28 of certain elements of breaking the law and now you want to tell on the person that gave you the opportunity in the first place. It's time for- Oh, that's a wrong drop. Do I have Joe on here? I guess I ain't got you on here anymore. Anyways, basically I had Joe Button saying, you know, a lot of rappers going broke. So even though Gunna and Young Thug is not going broke, the main thing when it comes to
Starting point is 00:03:49 Gunna and Young Thug that wanted a highlight before getting into Gunna's latest track poppet under his own label is that I believe Young Thug was being a, stand-up individual as far as not taking money or putting Gunna in a very bad deal as far as as far as when you look at people who come at them who come at artists and try to squeeze every dollar out of them in the midst of a deal I believe the deal that Gunna had from Yuntah was very fair right I don't think he was going at Gunna in a way of trying to take away, trying to manipulate him as in 2020. I don't think we get Gunna publicly gifting young thug $100,000 in cash.
Starting point is 00:04:41 Mind you, young thugs signed him. Not the other way around. Usually it's the other way around, you know, like we've seen with the Summer Walker instance. I'm just saying, you know, somebody got to say it. At the end of the day, Summer Walker had a whole Mercedes Benz or whatever gifted to her from her label. The reason why they do that is because they're making hand, they're printing money off of your efforts. And they're basically like,
Starting point is 00:05:04 we're making all this money off of you. You barely making anything from the money you're generating. So we're going to gift you just Mercedes Benz, right? In 2020, Gunna publicly gifted Young Thug $100,000 in cash. Now I know what you're probably saying. Oh, what does that mean? That means that Gunna is probably thinking to himself, man, young thug really did me a solid,
Starting point is 00:05:23 only to turn on him five years later. Who do dee do? And we beat these folk. Who do we beat them? We go forward. Ironic, ain't it? So anyways, when it comes to Gunna, if you don't know, he has his own label now, which he's calling Shady Baby. As October 9th, 2026, Gunna launched SB the label, which is Shady Baby, and partnership with Atlantic Music Group along with Warner, right? Now, of course, Gunna serves as the CEO, and he's the first artist that Gunna sign is Atlantic acts like,
Starting point is 00:05:57 Casper Bluff, Nietzsche, and Drake with two seeds, not the goat. Is it okay? I got my dope on me. Another person that's called Drake with two Cs. Now, of course, you know, when it comes to legal implications, you know what I'm saying? I'm not going to say that Drake may get into the suit, you know. Is it okay, I got my dope on me?
Starting point is 00:06:14 But we see he's done that before, but anyways, all jokes aside, I believe that this new track that Gunna just put out titled Poppet under his newest label is straight as straight up phenomenal. If you don't know, there's a whole music video out right now for poppy. Of course, for copyright reasons, I'm not going to play the video even on mute. So when you look at the video as far as the analytics, I will put this up. So analytic dreams video, Spotify to see the video along with the audio. But five days ago, 2.6 million views.
Starting point is 00:06:44 I mean, that's just insane. To the point where it's trending as the eighth most watched music video on YouTube. And of course, when you look at overall, as far as the YouTube platform in totality, the gun of poppy music video is the 180th most. most watch music video, oh no, it's the 180th most watched video on YouTube. And of course, when you look at where it's trending, you come to realize that man Gunna is in a lot of different locations for a reason. As currently the music video is the 28th most watch in Ghana, 33rd most watch in Kenya,
Starting point is 00:07:22 33rd most watch in South Africa, 40th most watch in Nigeria, and 47th most watching in Tanzania, wherever that is. But basically, Gunna is making such a worldwide attempt to broaden his sound, especially going from the non-law Biden type of raps he used to have into more luxurious, braggadocious bars that I believe Gunna is one of the best I've ever heard at doing as far as getting that off, as far as the braggadocious and luxurious lifestyle being detailed in his verses. It reminds me, and don't kill me for my hip-hop old heads out there,
Starting point is 00:08:06 but it reminds me of Cameron as far as just the appeal of Gunner in the luxury lane, in the fashion lane. I believe if Gunner was to actually buckle down and come out with a fashion piece and started to try to get into the fashion field as far as selling his own merch or maybe his own piece, like maybe start off with a piece and then build it from there. I think Gunna's one of the few artists who could get that off, especially when you look at the fashion industry when it comes to hip hop. Travis Scott, we've seen it, Kanye, we've seen it, and it's very difficult. It's not like I'm saying, oh, Gunna can definitely do it.
Starting point is 00:08:42 I'm just saying Gunna is one of the big dogs and hip hop that I believe also is a influential fashion figure to the point where he could pull that off. Anyways, the reason why I say all that. It's because if you look at the music video, I mean, it's just insane. Overall, the music video, it was directed by Spike Jordan and a tennis superstar. It also involved the tennis superstar Coco Golf. Is that you say your name? Basically, Coco Golf, I did look up some things about her. She's tremendous in the tennis field to the point where not only does she have a top 10 all-time
Starting point is 00:09:24 revenue when it comes to the women's tennis association because you know I'm a Hall of Fame pocket watch you know what I mean somebody got to do it I saw she made 36 to 37 million dollars I said to myself hold on now I said I see what Gunner trying to do all right my fault I'm just saying you know what I mean is the reason why Gunner has her in the video now revenue set to the side she's made a notorious mass effect in the tennis field as of course she has a 2023 U.S. Open Championship. She has a 2025 French Open Championship, two majors. 2024 women, let me see,
Starting point is 00:10:08 women's Tennis Association winner. So whatever that means. Oh, finals winner. And then multiple women's tennis association, a thousand titles. How does it even make sense? I don't know how that works. I don't get that.
Starting point is 00:10:23 So basically I don't watch tennis. I don't know what that means. But essentially she's really good. That's all you need to know. So she's like one of the best ever endorsements from New Balance, Rolex, Boles, Mercedes, Benz, etc. Which brings it back full circle as far as my gun to point. The luxury, lifestyle, braggadocious bars and the visual aspect combined with the audio,
Starting point is 00:10:49 is making it to where. Gunna is definitely making a pen is making a very intentional pivot to talking about luxurious settings which is why the video includes a cliffside mansion a helicopter exaic sports cars if you don't believe me i mean exhibit a b c you get the point this man flexing on us i mean just all type of flexes throughout the entire music video now of course you could say oh he probably just rented it for a music video but uh ladies and gentlemen this costs a lot of money. I kid you not. Is it okay? I got my dope on me. This is like when Drake had three minutes of his 47 minute Iceman live stream as far as the FOMO, Firmiss and out being about him giving
Starting point is 00:11:31 out like 500,000 to a million dollars to multiple women. And that was like four, that was like four minutes of his 47 minute FOMO live stream. This is the, this is essentially a snapshot of what I'm talking about as far as not only Drake being on a different level, but even for Gunner to have this type of imagery in his music video. It was a lot of dollars. And that's cocoa in the back. There was a lot of dollars given out to even have this in the, in, uh, what was it, two to three minute music video. So anyways, the main reason I'm talking about this lifestyle fashion stuff is because I know young thug watching this saying to himself, I just don't like it, man. You know what I'm saying? I just don't like that shit, man. And honestly,
Starting point is 00:12:12 I can't blame him. You know, at the end of day, he did lose a great soldier under YSL. but if Gunna was going to take it apart himself to really separate himself from Yassel saying as a gang saying yes ma'am maybe three seconds you know basically just telling on the whole operation of young thug basically at some point you can only receive revenue off him to the point where people will start pointing it out how if you really hate snitches or you dislike snitches to separate yourself from an artist that is obviously snitching on your whole operation and I think that's essentially what happened. When it comes to the monetary benefits, it makes sense that Young Thug kept him for a little
Starting point is 00:12:54 bit longer as he completed his contractual obligations. And of course, as far as the recouping, you already know how, I think it was the FU Mean track when he first came out, you already know how crazy that was going. So he probably recouped off the back and Young Thug was like, nah, I still need two, three more albums. So if you look at it, the last album that Gunna had under the YSL later, was the last one album which is you know come on now I mean it's pretty on the nose so the last one that came on August 8th 2025 was literally the last album under the YSL
Starting point is 00:13:31 young thug label sad day in history man but then you know what I'm saying I was like damn look at the state of hip hop like what's going on one of the greatest duos one of the greatest groups I've ever seen as far as young thug gonna little baby that whole dynamic because you know young thugs are riding around with a little baby you know what i'm saying he may or may not let me chill so basically with gunna distancing himself you come to realize that even the top-tier producers are signing with thug as if you don't know metro at l'jacob wisi mustard hip-boy south side some of the biggest producers in the game they're not really working with uh gunna gunna's working with turbo and kinney stunton no disrespect to those people turbo definitely has his wave in the
Starting point is 00:14:13 Atlanta field. But of course, when you look at the people that he's been working with, post-jail, you come to realize some of the bigger producers that he worked with was pre-jail. So post-jail, he's not really getting some of the A-lister producers because of the whole blackball effect from Young Thug, which goes into my next point. Is it okay? I got my dope on me. I don't know if we're ever hear a gunner Drake song again, which hurts my heart, man. I'm excited, man. Why not?
Starting point is 00:14:44 As that, what was it called? Gunna Drake. Let me see if I can find it. It was a track where all three of them. Yeah, Little Baby Gunna Drake never recover. I still say to this day. It's one of the better hip hop tracks I've ever heard, like in life. That track, Never Recovery is literally a masterpiece.
Starting point is 00:15:01 It's almost as if it's one of the greatest hip-hop collab tracks as far as putting on a master class on the art form. Right? So anyways, y'all may think I'm going to do. Glazing, y'all got to listen to that track. That track is phenomenal. So when it comes to the poppy track, it's all right. It's nothing, it's not going to blow you out of the water. It's more of the same when it comes to Gunner. It's definitely not bad. I think it's hard for Gunner to make bad music, but as far as him making the F you mean or, it was another track that he made recently that was really good. So he had the FU Mean track and then he had,
Starting point is 00:15:39 there wasn't a track of Burner Boy? Didn't he have a track of Burner Boy? That was pretty solid. Oh yeah, that one went crazy. I'm not even going to tell you all what that stands for, but let's just say the abbreviations is abbreviated. You know, the abbreviations is there for a reason. Let me just put it like that, and it's a PG podcast. So if you mean the track of Burnaboard, if he does more stuff like that, I believe the album could be received phenomenal.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Because when you look at the first week sales, I mean, Gunna's always pretty top tier. Drip too hard. Drip harder in 2018 to $130,000, $130,000 first week. Drip or drown two in 2019 to that 90, first week one in 2020 did 111,000 first week ds forever in 22 did 150 to 152 first week a gift and a curse did 83 to 85 000 first week in 2020 one of one in 2024 to 91 and the last one in 2025 to 80 000 so i'm assuming that he's definitely going to do a 90
Starting point is 00:16:37 to 100 000 because now that he's on his own label under a whole new deal i feel like he's going to try to put more marketing dollars and behind this marketing behind this album push because of this being the first one under his label because the last one ironically was the last one under the young thug album so i assume he's holding or maybe he kept some heat to put out on his newest album under his newest label so that being said as far as the newest single pop it i did tell you the numbers as as far as YouTube specifically, but of course I have the Future Chart Analytics from Billboard, you know what I'm saying? Oh man, come on, Drisky.
Starting point is 00:17:15 I mean, it's only because I take my job seriously. You know what I'm saying? You ain't got to do all that, but definitely make sure to rate this five stars. So anyways, as far as Future Chart analytics laid it for October 24th, 2026, the poppet single from Gunna is slated to be the 53rd most play track in the world. That's pretty solid. It's not numbers that's blowing you out of the water. It's not like a top 30 debut like the goat.
Starting point is 00:17:38 I got my dope on me. I mean, you don't even want me get through the ghost numbers, you know what I'm saying? Quebec, solar eclipse, they all going crazy right now. So, anyways, the main thing when it comes to pop it
Starting point is 00:17:47 is that it's charting high in the top of 100 is not like it's going to, well, we don't know. For the foreseeable future, we'll see if it increases or slides out of the top 100. But as of right now, I think it's a solid debut from Gunner and his new label debut.
Starting point is 00:18:02 So with that being said, click my link to show in my bio to follow me on my social media.
