The producer beef that nobody asked for in Hit Boy versus Metro Boomin.
Now first, before you get completely confused, let me explain.
This man in the same year that Metro Booman just dropped his Spider-Man across the Spider-Verse soundtrack
and also dropped the album titled Heroes and Villains in 2022, late 2022, I might add,
right after that at the beginning of 2023 this man hip boy dropped victims and villains in march i wonder
what that was a playoff of and he's and he also dropped the album titled surfer drown and now he's back
again to drop another album titled surfer drown too now if you don't if you aren't following me right now
just know the timelines are matching up metro boom and to drop another album to catch up to hip boy
as Hip Boy is at album number two in 2023 with, well, album number three in 2020, whereas Metro is technically at three, but nobody really counts the heroes and villains that dropped in late 2022.
So technically he's at one with the Spider-Man across the Spider-Verse soundtrack.
Now, I don't know why these two producers are battling it out for the best producer in hip-hop, but it's a sight to see as no music is dropping, so why not just talk about producer beef?
And specifically, I want to get into Big Shine and Hit Boy teaming up once again, because if you don't know, Big Shine and Hip Boy is like a match made in heaven.
As some of his biggest hits came from production.
Blessings, no pun intended, from Hit Boy as in 2016, his hit, I decided, reached number one on the Billboard Top 100 and was certified Triple Platinum by RAA.
Don't tell you, don't let anybody tell you that Big Sean fell off because if he was looking at the year, then technically he kind of did.
But in 2016, he had his latest hit as far as like topping the Billboard top charts.
And then he also had blessings in 2015, which was number five, peaked at number five on the Billboard Top 100.
Then he had one man can change the world in 2017, which topped, which peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Top 100.
And then a bunch of other hits that he had with Metro Boomin.
well, not Metro. I'm getting my producers mixed up with Hip Boy in What a Life in 2018 that
featured Little Wayne. And then he has single again, which featured his baby moms in Janae Aiko.
So, you know, Big Sean and Janaya Aiko definitely have some sort of chemistry going on there with that
track. But anyways, all of those was blessings from Hit Boy as he was all over to producing
credits. And in general, I will say that this whole producer beef has definitely flew
under the radar as nobody really cares about hip boy going back and forth with
Metro Boomin as to who's the best producer in hip hop but it's very interesting to see
that these releases kind of line up as far as the time and the names not even the
timing like if it was just named something completely different like Surfer Drown 2
okay that's a bit of a reach to say that he's trying to battle with Metro's
Spider-Man across the Spider-Verse soundtrack but victims and villains
in March of this same year just after Metro dropped heroes and villains.
And then after that, he dropped Surfer Drown 2, which is his third project in the same year
that Metro is teasing a future album.
So he's coming out with another album.
So he would have two in 2023.
And if you count the Heroes and Villains soundtrack, he put out late 2022, then he will be at
three foot here but in general i would say that metro booming is clearing hip boy by a mile as far as
quality but as far as classics i would definitely say that hip boy is above metro booming at this
very point because if you don't remember he won a grammy off of uh biances renaissance album
and then he also was nominated for a grammy with uh nods which i don't know if that won a grammy or not
but i know it was nominated i believe it did
win a Grammy.
Let me see if I can look that up right quick.
Because in general, that was, I'm not going to say that was his claim to fame because
Nas definitely needed some great beats to rap alongside of as, you know, the longstanding
joke is that Nas always picks the most horrendous beats to spit the most lyrically
inclined bars you've ever heard.
So in general, Nas and Hip Boy coming together is definitely a sight to see as I believe they
won.
I think they won a Grammy, but let me see right quick.
because hit boy and naz is probably one of the biggest duos currently that we have as far as
as producers and rapping and rap is concerned because i know they won um for the first
king's disease i believe yeah okay so metro no uh hit boy and naz won a grammy in 2021 for best rap album
for king's disease and then they all and then uh hit boy oh that's funny hit boy also won
another Grammy for a best rap song in Industry Baby, which if you know who's on that track,
just know that Hip Boy producing that track is just a funny combination in itself because
hip boy, Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow, who would have knew that that resulted in a Grammy?
But anyways, so as far as classic tracks and standing the test of time, I think the hip boy
currently is better than Metro Booming. But as far as quantity compared to quality,
I would say that Metro probably has the better tracks for me because I don't know about y'all,
but heroes and villains is still in my playlist to this day.
And as far as King's Disease, I can't really say it's in my playlist at all.
I mean, imagine somebody be like, hey, turn on that new, Nause, turn on that, turn on that
Nause and Hip Boy.
Like, I don't think nobody's saying that.
So at the end of the day, the battle of who's the best producer in hip hop will live on.
But all you need to know is that Hip Boy just dropped a new album titled Surfer Drum.
two and of course personally I'm gonna go to the big Sean tracks because if you
don't if you don't know before I was a certified OVO boy and Drake I was a huge
big big Sean fan and he completely just stopped making music like I don't know he he just
pulled some type of Kendrick went away for three years and guess what Drake was right
there to scoop me up as he kept putting it well pause but he kept putting out music and I was
just like well this is my favorite artist now because my favorite artist left me and my high
high school days and now i might as well go to the other option so anyways hip boy back again
with the new album titled surfer drown two click my link to in my bio let me know one of my social
medias have you listened to the album what is and if you have what is your favorite track
off of surfer drown two by hit boy
