Starting point is 00:00:00 I feel like LeBron James, he tweeted out, maybe it's me, you know? Because for the first ever, Afrobeat Award for the VMAs, and they give it to Selena Gomez. Now, maybe I'm tripping. Y'all, y'all let me know. But from my optics perspective, you cannot convince me that that is not outrageous. But if you don't believe me, look no further than the actual VMA awards and the announcement of them winning the first ever Afrobeat Award. As an East African girl announcing this, this is huge. Best Afro beats, Rima and Selena Gomez.
Starting point is 00:00:52 So the video, you know, hey, I don't care what y'all see to the right, right? We're looking at Selena Gomez for the first ever Afrobees Award. I don't care how successful this track is. You had Barnaboy, you had, I think Tim's was nominated, so many other artists by themselves, and for the first Afrobee Award to go to Selena Gomez, that's ridiculous. That is just, to quote my man, DeMarcus Cousins,
Starting point is 00:01:21 now I'm just playing. It's a PG podcast. But anyways, all right, so obviously that was all jokes, right? I'm not really that upset that they won the award. But I do want to point out that Ice Spice and Rima is dropping a new track titled Pretty Girl. And it's set to be released at midnight.
Starting point is 00:01:38 And they also said the Ice Spice will kick off Season 49 of Saturday Night Live as the musical guest on October 14th. So, of course, if you don't know, actors are technically still on strike. Not the writers. They came to an agreement. but the actors are still on strike,
Starting point is 00:01:57 which can be confusing for the average fan, but hey, that's what I'm here to tell you. And then also, Rima, if you don't know, is a giant. Like, he is like a supreme giant in the Afrobees field. I believe, I mean, all jokes to the side, right? Calm down by Selena Gomez and Rima, which is Rima's track feature Selena Gomez. Now ranks amongst the 600 biggest Billboard Hot 100 hits of all time.
Starting point is 00:02:25 So of course they deserve their award. I just had to make a joke because I just thought that was hilarious. But Rima also is the second longest charting African artists in the United States. I don't know who he's behind. I wish he said who he was behind. He's third. Oh, somebody said he's third. Tim's and Whisk Kid has more.
Starting point is 00:02:45 Interesting. And what else? I don't know. People keep saying he's second. But whether second or third, he's up there as far as. the Nigerian music is considered. Like he is a powerhouse in himself when it comes to Nigerian music and especially in the States because the reason why a Selena Gomez was attached because if you don't know,
Starting point is 00:03:11 you need a certain amount of streams in the U.S. for RIAA certification. So no matter how many streams you get overseas, right, you can get a like a billion streams, right? I mean, obviously that would count. That'll probably count for something. But as far as the U.S. charts, you need U.S. streams. So adding Selena Gomez inherently gains you more U.S. streams. So that's why that move was made for the people wondering why this track was so popular and why still popular.
Starting point is 00:03:38 So what else? Also, Rima's album, Raves and Roses spent a whopping 37 weeks on the charts. I think that's pretty good. That's pretty good. What else? And it's really not too much. else to get into. Ice Spice is on this track, which if you don't know, she's been running up to charts too with her track with Pink Panthers being in the top 10, her track with Nikki Minaj, the Barbie,
Starting point is 00:04:06 the Barbie song, I forget what that was called. Basically, that's like top 30, 40, I forget what it's, but basically it's charting. So Ice Spices had chart success herself. So Rima, Ice Spice coming together just makes absolute sense in in every single way and i believe if i'm not mistaken that ice spice has roots or background in nigeria but maybe i'm tripping me i'm not trying to be you know i ain't trying to be one of them you know be like we all from nautil right but basically um i think ice spice has some different type of nationality that's that's i'll have to look up look that up later. But anyways, for the people who know what I'm trying to say, y'all know. For people who don't, hey, y'all don't know. Ain't that? Ain't that?
Starting point is 00:04:55 No, let me chill. You know, PG podcast. All right. So that's basically it, man. Calm down. It's going to be an Afrobeat type track with, you know, a sprinkle of rap with ice spice. And we'll see how it sounds when it eventually comes out because Rima has concluded his Raven Rose's tour. so now he is eventually uh he's uh free to promote this the way he wants and whether as some music video come in whether it's him popping up at the s andl with ice spice well i don't know how that's going to work but anyways this track's going to be humongous and i can't wait for it to drop at midnight so with that being said click my link to your bio let me know one of my social medias what do you think about ice spice and rima coming together for this track titled pretty girl and do you think
Starting point is 00:05:42 it will be fire or trash
