There's a lot going on in the K-pop community, and one could say that their use of certain marketing tactics is definitely paying off as you have BTS, Black Pink, Itsy, Ivy, so many different K-pop artists as you can point to, like, new jeans.
I can keep going on and on.
But basically, what I want to get at is this is the first time I've heard of a K-pop group, basically for not selling women.
I don't know what it is, but for some reason, they are pinpointing all the blame on ITSI as far as their performance.
Because if you don't know, this is a group under YYP Entertainment.
So with that being said, they are as supposed to perform in a particular way that is bringing back revenue for their engine to recoup.
Basically, the label is what I'm calling the engine.
So with that out the way, basically this whole segment is going to be talking about the album release,
but then also some of the numbers that are just not adding up.
Like, what did Taraji P. Henson say, is the math ain't mathing.
I don't know what it is about this group, but being under a major label and failing to chart
in Spotify Global, which is specifically tailored to overseas.
countries um well from my american perspective is is really tailored towards overseas people because
global charts are not the same as u.s because for our i double a certification you need a certain
amount of u.s streams but if you have let's say eight million global streams but in the
u.s you only have like 500 000 well guess what you're not getting that r i double a platinum because you
you're not selling enough in the U.S.
So with the global charts,
that's really your playground to put up the big boy numbers
and compete with the likes of a Drake,
a Taylor Swift, things of that nature.
So with ITSI failing to chart in Spotify global,
keep in mind, these are the charts that help out
Burn a Boy, Bad Bunny, a lot of other overseas artists.
And when I say overseas, I'm going to keep saying
from an American perspective,
overseas musicians
Spotify Global is
where they do their most damage
because that attributes
and
accounts for their
hometown, technically home country.
So why am I even
talking about them if they're not selling well?
Well, they got to a point
where they are making noise
in a sense, but for
all the wrong reasons. Like you look
up ITSE and it's just people,
I don't know if it's the smear campaign. I don't
know if they made somebody over at starship entertainment mad or at big hit entertainment upset but
basically with them being under yyp which is a completely different label from those the uh previous
two i just named they are being i'm not going to say attack but it's a lot of scrutiny placed on
their name people are calling what they've achieved in the past to be straight feint uh fake streaming
uh fabricated people are pointing out of
Now, numbers with the non-update of ITSI, because basically,
ITSI has a plethora of chart accounts as far as keeping them updated with what their numbers
are.
They've been mysteriously quiet.
Nobody can figure out why we're not getting numbers from ITSI when it comes to
the new album, Born to Be.
Do I think it's a little harsh?
Yes.
But would I be doing my job if I wasn't to cover a K-pop,
group that's actually being targeted for not performing well,
I don't think I would be.
As if you don't know, it's a very strict culture,
and I can't really speak on it too specifically,
because obviously I'm not from there.
But it's been so many rumors and just actual reports
to come out about just how strict they are with their musicians
and just how much pressure they put on them to perform.
With that being said,
Seeing this internet backlash for them not performing well, to me just reiterates and kind of just brings back up those sentiments that I've heard in the past of different tactics being placed by South Korea.
Because if you don't know, they run their business the way they run their business.
Let's just put it like that.
So when they have strict training programs, when they're pressure in the artists to perform, it gets to a point where obviously it can.
can be mentally taxing it. I don't know if they have mental health days over at Korea,
just like they do in America. I don't know if it's as tolerable to have a mental health day
over there. Let's just put it like that. So anyways, that's enough of me talking about them.
At the end of the day, they're still on an independent level, a level, are performing well as
they have 6.5 million monthly listeners. And with that, obviously, that's only a count.
and spotify they probably have um millions of other platforms as well uh cake is the biggest
track along with one of be actually wannabe is the biggest track followed by loco uh i can't say
it was chest shear and then cake and then wringo that's the top five as far as popular tracks
but hey don't kill the messenger somebody just has to put a spotlight on how different labels
to get their musicians to perform better and just somebody has to point out and call out the
tactics used and implemented to get their artists to understand that they are not performing or what
they are doing is subpar as far as the industry as far as the major label standards so with that
being said click my link to my bio let me know one of my social medias are will you be checking
out born to be album by itsy and also when it comes to the k-pop scene who is your favorite musician
and do you think there's any validity to korean music major labels putting a lot of pressure on the
artist and giving them strict regiments
