Getting into the great white hope of hip hop and talking about Eminem, I mean, Jack Carlo, of course, he just put out a track titled Just Us featuring Doja Cat.
Now, when it comes to these two particular artists, I've covered them a numerous amount of times across the span of this podcast.
But when it comes to the lyrical aspect, I just want people to know I put them in a whole
other tier a tier when it comes to the quality level, right?
I think lyrically, Jack Harlow and Doja Cat is amongst the best rappers and the collective
field.
Now, of course, people may agree with that, but of course, my sentiments throughout the podcast
have been consistent.
I think Jack Harlow is a tremendous rapper.
I think Doge Cat is a phenomenal rapper.
And both of them together on one track, I was expecting a lyrical showcase.
like no other now of course though i think they're going to just go on the whole alchemist
beat and just spit bars for five six minutes straight of course not so they made this more of an
anthem and i'm not mad at it of course you know you want to try to appease to the charts if you don't
know i believe dojicat was just with uh jenny i believe and not jenny it was lisa so it was lisa
Doja Cat and Ray with her track
Born Again. It wasn't Dojicat's track. It was
Lisa's. But when it comes to Jack
Harlow, everybody knows that this man
does phenomenal numbers on the
Billboard charts and literally had one
of his most successful outings
as far as the single with this track
Lovin on me, which hit number one on the
Billboard Hot 100 and was his
longest number one single
ever as far as Jack Harlow.
So passing First Class and we all
know how first class
was just going
crazy in 2020 having three weeks spent at number one on the charts now now for me to get into
my review of this track because I did listen to it and the reason why I waited so long is because
I'm not saying that I don't have the highest compliments of this track because the verses are
phenomenal my main concern for this track's lifespan is the chorus because I like the beginning
part of the chorus but when he gets it to the huh part of this track which you know I'm probably
You know, I'm not really replicating it the greatest, right?
But, you know, the, the, uh, part of this chorus, I think is, uh, very interesting and sets back the quality level of the chorus.
I think it's, uh, harder to replay that part of the chorus in this entire track.
And the thing about it is it happens three times throughout the track.
So, you know, um, the verses are immaculent.
I think this suffers the lyrical problem when it comes to a lot of lyricists in the game.
Sometimes when you flow so well, they believe that a chorus with your bars in it could suffice.
Sometimes that works, a lot of times it doesn't.
Sometimes you need more of the cookie cutter chorus to go along with your hard hitting bars.
And I think the lyrical chorus approach by Jack Harlow is not bad, of course, but it's just not as good when it comes to replay value, right?
So if he was going to go for low replay value, I think he should have had more of,
a patented chorus like he usually has when it comes to a first class or miss johnson like a more
catchy vibe to the chorus and i think that the chorus wasn't as catchy but when it comes overall
track i think it's solid i love the verses dojicat is i think she had a better verse on the track
uh jack harlowe his verse is phenomenal i don't know how many times jack harlowe's gonna keep
being outwrapped by lyricists on his own track.
I mean, Churchill Downs, just us, but you know, hey, that's just me, right?
But I think when it comes to Jack Carlo, he knows what he's doing, getting these
lyricists and his discography because he understands that at some point, if you're going to
be compared to the greatest rappers in hip-hop, you have to go head-to-head with these
lyrics.
And not saying in a Kendrick Drake type of way, but more of, and this is a throwback for hip-hop
fans, a Torrey Lane's Jordan Lucas type way.
like doing it for the sport but not really as personal right jack harlowe is consistently doing that
with these type of tracks with lyricists and i like the way that he's uh approaching his lyrics
with actual effort that's the one thing i love about jack harlowe's approach to music because as a
coverer of hip-hop putting words together is not as emphasized and i'm not just saying that
because play with cardi just put this album i've been saying this as far as lyricists are very
There's a few and far between because it takes a lot of effort.
Every verse, every punchline, every double, triple entendre,
every different flow you're trying to use for the beat's pocket
to find a unique pocket in the beat.
It takes a lot of effort versus other, you know, regurgitated sounds
that you hear where people are asking when the English version is coming out, right?
So that's why I love Jack Harlow's delivery, pause,
and the way that he puts words together.
And of course, when it comes to the fabulous doge cat, right?
The way that she purse wears together is at a high level.
And I never really have an issue with DojCat's music.
I love her albums or singles.
Paint the Town Red to this day.
I think it's one of the better tracks I've heard from a rapper,
just, you know, getting into the pop lane.
So anyways, and when it comes to this particular track,
I don't want people who think I'm just trashing the track.
Because if you've heard my coverage of Jack Harlow,
when it comes to set you free,
when it comes to Ms. Johnson,
when it comes to stop giving me,
me advice. I've had nothing but praise for the entire track, right? This is just me saying that I
enjoyed the track, just that one nitpick of the second half of the chorus when he's getting to the
hub part of the track, you know, of the chorus. It's a very redundant and mundane in my opinion.
So anyways, I think the track is solid, though. I think it's going to do, I honestly don't know
what it's going to do on the charts because Jack Hollow currently doesn't have any tracks charting
in the top 100. He doesn't have any albums charting in the top of the top. He doesn't have any albums charting
in the top 50 and he has put out singles so because i remember covering miss johnson and i believe
they came out 2025 let me see yeah miss johnson i believe like came and went uh which you know
sometimes you put oh no miss johnson was in uh 2024 so he put out tranquility in 2025 and set you
free so he had two singles in in uh 2025 those i give more of a pass because those are like hard-hitting
lyrical type tracks like those are like not alchemist beats but you know going for that type of
vibe like I'm just on this beat trying to get my bars off so I'll let this slide because you know
lyrical tracks don't really have the highest replay value so I really think this is probably his
first commercial attempt at a single especially having doja cat on it so with that being said
click my link true in my bio let me know one of my social medias what do you think about jack harlowe
and doja cast track just us and who do you think had a better verse and at the end of the day
do you think just us will have the same type of billboard or analytical performance like loving on
and first class had.
