Fun fact, if y'all didn't know, the reason that I wear what I wear as far as covering content when I'm covering the entire music and gaming industry is because of this man right here.
And what you're probably, if you're new and don't know what in the world I'm talking about, well, first, you know, definitely make sure to click my link, click my link, sure you follow me on my social medias.
As you can see right here, in general, as you can tell, well, these are like ads.
as you can tell usually I am wearing my N7 jacket because I am a huge mass effect fan
now I was trying to find a full picture we are could like really see yeah here we go so y'all see
my leather jacket right here so let me see if I could find in full I would show y'all now but
obviously I'm about to play EA so I got my little referee outfit on but ultimately I usually
wear a jacket in every single video and it's a mass effect jacket so that's the wide view
And then obviously I can see right here, that's the N7 logo in the bottom right.
But when it comes to me and my coverage, I try to have a uniform look because of this man right here.
And if you didn't know that, well, now you know, one of the biggest inspirations I always talk about as far as my content creation is definitely the Black Okhage and RDC world.
But as far as what I wear, every single time I cover content is my Mass Effect leather jacket for one.
It shows that I'm a huge MasterFake fan.
and you know the podcast i mean come on now and two i think it's like a formality it's like when
stephen a wears a suit when he goes to cover sports so you know just try to show people i'm really
passionate about what i do and i don't take this for granted at all as far as the support from people
so at the end of day one of my huge inspirations for wearing my leather jacket is this man right here
if you didn't know now you know because i cover the entire gaming and music industry but i don't
dive into movies and tv shows so you probably would never know that until i just said it so anyways um
being said, the reason why we're getting into Jeremy Johns today is because the Superman movie directed by James Gunn is getting some of the best reviews I've seen in my lifetime.
I'm not talking about Infinity War. I'm not talking about endgame for like one single superhero.
I don't think I've ever heard such positive reviews across the board from people who may not even take a liking to James Gunn.
We're talking about Grace Randolph, which I'm a huge fan of her as well.
I'll talk about that all the time.
you already know that but um as far as grace randolph and her coverage of superman and everybody's
coverage just saying it may be the greatest superman movie of all time if not one of the greatest
superhero movies of all time so very high expectations definitely a high you know bar set
ultimately i think superman's going to live up to it if you've checked out my coverage of
superman and fantastic four in the past i've always said i'm looking i'm much looking forward to
Superman. I also think Fantastic 4 is going to be a phenomenal movie. But as far as what I'm looking
forward to, what I think I'm going to be surprised by the most, I've always said Superman. And with
these reviews coming out, positive across the board, is only reinforcing that thought from me.
Because, of course, I'm going to see it tomorrow. And with that being said, it does come out
July 11th, 2025. But, of course, theaters always have certain early screenings that you could go to
is the one that's that's how i'm going to see it tomorrow because as i if you're in the future
i'm recording it's july night so the movie's not out right now but i'm going to see this tomorrow
because of the early uh early viewings in my specific movie theater so you could probably see that
a day early if you go to the right movie theater near you but anyways i want to say that to let you know
that the movie's coming out that it's getting phenomenal reviews like phenomenal is an
understatement like they're literally saying this is one of the greatest superhero movies of all time so now i
I want to see Jeremy John's review because he always does a great job on going around spoilers.
It's kind of give you an inclination of what you're going to get into,
but also let you set the ground so your expectations aren't just over, too high or too low.
So anyways, let's see what Jeremy Johns has to say about this movie right now.
Superman's back to bring us that theatrical experience.
Speaking of the theatrical experience, I want to think the sponsor of this video.
This video is a sponsor.
Hold up.
Definitely got to see it to sponsor.
You know what I mean?
Shout out to Jeremy Johns, get your money, but you know what I mean?
They ain't pay me, you know what I'm saying?
You rent out the whole room, the whole auditorium with just-
Oh, did I skip too far?
All right.
And you're watching your movie.
You rent out the whole-
Oh, he's still going.
Or purchase tickets for shows from September through January.
Enter the future.
All right, there we go.
Superman's written and directed by James Gunn stars Nathan Filling as Guy Gardner,
the leader of the justice gang in the DC universe.
A kid, kind of.
Now, the real stars the breakout performance
of the little crusty white CGI dog named Cripp.
as well as David Corenswet.
And he called him Krusty White.
He's kicking off his character in this universe, also kicking off a new DC universe.
Now this is going to be a spoiler-free review.
I'll probably do a spoiler video later on, Friday-ish.
But for now, spoiler-free.
I love how he says that.
If you don't know with Jeremy Johns, I think he waits for it to get to a certain engagement number before he does a spoiler-free.
He already knows the Superman, the engagement is going to be through the roof.
So he's already promising that.
But usually, and for Jeremy John's, like, for Jeremy John's hardcore fans, y'all probably
already know this.
I think he, like, he gives a little, you know, hint that, you know, if y'all support this
enough, I'll give a spoiler review.
But for Superman, he already knows he's going to get the support for this trailer, which,
you know, he does phenomenal numbers, not trying to say, but I'm just, you know, he gives
a little incentive to like and stuff like that, which, you know what I mean, got to practice
what I preach.
Definitely got to hit the like button because this is the goat.
And the reason why I'm not subscribed to him because I'm subscribed on my personal
account. This is like my analytic dreams account, if y'all couldn't tell. But I definitely hit the
like button. You know what I mean? You got to do that. It goes a long way. Anyways, let's keep going.
You rest easy. And it's a Superman movie, so let's talk about David Corrin's sweat as Superman.
I thought he was great as Superman. For me, the Superman of Superman, Christopher Reeve always has been,
always will be. And I don't think they should have actually shown the clips that he showed were
Superman's yelling at his girlfriend, yelling at his girlfriend, not that Superman's not allowed to be pissed.
I bring them up because in context in the movie, seeing it play out, I understood more than just these out of context clips.
You do understand his frustration of, he's like, I don't see red tape.
I don't see the politics here.
I just want to stop people from dying and a war was going to break out between totally not Israel and totally not Palestine.
No.
So yeah, I should probably choose their clips more wisely.
It's all I'm saying.
Also, what I'm saying is cor.
That's another thing I've seen.
I feel like the real world ties to Superman is going to make a lot of people upset.
And that's what I'm going to leave you at because it's not politics channel.
But it's a lot of things that's dealing with Clark can't be in from another place, right?
And how he's acclimating and getting readjusted to where he's at currently.
I'm going to let you do with that what you will as far as putting the puzzle pieces together.
But let's keep going.
He's definitely a more relatable Superman, sometimes to a fault.
Because they don't feel like I should be like, yeah, I feel like, I feel like.
like Superman right now? Because, I mean, if someone took my dogs, I'd flip their desk over too.
And I grabbed Lux Luther and be like, start talking well you can. Luther is going to start getting
pretty thin, pretty fast. Him being this more relatable Superman rather than maybe a father figure of
sorts. I thought David Corence sweat did really well. And the essence of him feeling like Superman
didn't feel as loss as I was afraid it was going to. Rachel Brosnahan, I also felt was really good as
Lois Lane. No surprise there. It's like when her casting was announced, it was a lot of
like makes sense. I think she's going to be really good. They illustrate out the gate. She's
the kind of reporter who doesn't trust, doesn't spin, and digs to find the actual truth rather
than just what's being said. That's right. This comic book movie about metahumans and an alien baby
who came to Earth from his home planet of Krypton, which his home planet blew up. He was raised
in Kansas, grew up to be Superman, the most unbelievable. Okay, okay. Shout out to Kansas. You know what
say I always say that you know when people ask where I'm from oh man technically not from
cancer from Arkansas you know what I'm saying Arkansas we took the pronunciation and ran with it
but you know what I'm saying but at the end of day I'm from both so um all you know as far as Kansas
you know we do have our claim to fame to be Superman but you know it's just a fictional character
so people you know get up in arms about that one but let's keep going the thing about that
is that a reporter with that level of integrity works for mainstream media Lex Luthor in this movie
kind of disappointed me but that's not because of
Nicholas Holt. Nicholas Holt is doing his best. He, a lot of actors in this movie, is picking up
the slack where the script is failing. When he's being an absolute bastard, he's fun to watch.
But he too falls victim to the monster that I...
This is how you know I haven't watched the review yet, because all the reactions were like overwhelmingly
positive. This is the first one where I like, I mean, he has critiques and he said he liked the movie,
but, you know, he's definitely going in on the critiques.
Out of place James Gunn humor. It's kind of weird that although Lex Luthor is,
doing the puppet master thing, the twirly mustache bad guy, and his command center. What I think of
is the kaiju and some of the other baddies Superman has to fight. It feels like there's a case of
identity crisis when it comes to Lex Luthor's motivation in this movie. You can either have the
audience understand that through the character's actions, or you can have the character just monologue about
it. The movie does the latter. Before undercutting the emotional tone with that James Gunn humor.
That James Gun humor, the out of place James Gun humor, not helping anything here.
There are moments where you're like, oh, yeah, feeling the...
Or, you know, a joke, sure.
Why, though?
I just...
Is James Gunn that...
Dang, don't tell me they're doing a Marvel.
Hold on now.
It's the first review, which is why he the goat, really, you know what I mean?
It's the first review I've seen as far as coming out.
Obviously, it's subjective, so he could be wrong.
But he's the first person I've seen say that there's too much, too many jokes.
in a movie. I've heard it's a joky movie, but he's saying like there's too many.
A lot of people saying this is like timely is well-time jokes. He's kind of saying the opposite.
Like it's too many.
I'm afraid of letting the emotional moment settle, simmer, grip.
Because so often in this movie, there's a moment that could genuinely be.
It sounds like every Marvel movie critique ever.
It's like, James Gunn's like, no, we can't have it.
People need to laugh at every scene.
Doesn't matter if it doesn't fit or feels out of place.
You know what?
There is a great emotional moment in here where he let it happen.
That's nice.
I mean, glad to have an exception to the rule.
The Justice Gang in this Superman movie absolutely James Gun's comfort zone.
Nathan Philean as Guy Gardner, he absolutely sells it.
And the James Gun humor can happen there.
It's a mix between the actor and the character in which you can funnel humor
like that through him and it doesn't feel out of context but not everyone in a movie especially a
superman movie is supposed to be the comic relief character comic relief humor it all has its place but don't
compromise the world for it i mean well the work he kind of going in on his movie
it struck me the plot points and beats in this movie you've seen before in other superman stories
i'm not talking pulled from the comic books you've seen them on screen once from smallville i was like
that's smallville just like the superman ish moment
The moments that I liked contrasted by the humor that completely wiped, if not destroyed, the emotional resonance of the scene.
In terms of the visuals, some of the CGI looked clean, yes, but it worked for the movie, for the overall vibe of the film.
Other times, it was doing these sweeping, panning shots among these action sequences.
Screen almost looked jittery to the point where it's like, yeah, that feels fake.
Lex Luthor walking by robots getting destroyed right by his head, debris's flying right by him, he doesn't even flinch.
That's not badass, that's stupid.
and you can't help the Olympic response
but flinch in some way, shape, or form.
The point of me bringing it up now
and I'm talking about CGI is it just doesn't feel real.
It feels CGI. It feels green screen.
On the other hand, though,
that is kind of crazy.
It's in here you look at and you're like, that feels like Superman.
That's amazing. It looks like it's out of a comic book cell.
And I was bothered by the lack of Clark Kent.
Granted, where Superman is in his life, no real need.
Regardless of where a lot of superhero films have gone
in which a lot of superheroes don't have that secret identity element anymore.
It's just, it's a thing that some have, but not as many.
But I've always enjoyed the contrast between the superhero and the alter ego.
And Superman's, well, if you've watched Kill Bill, you know why that's just particularly interesting.
Kill Bill Volume 2, that is.
It's all one movie, so whatever.
But him is Clark Ken, he doesn't really hide it.
He doesn't try to not act like Superman.
He's other than the haircut that looks like he's about to do prank videos at Home Depot for TikTok.
And the glom.
Hey, not Home Depot.
He's not really trying to hide it.
You can tell James Gunn was like, Clark Kent's not really a big part of this movie.
Just be super man with glasses.
There's also, what?
Yo, he is cool.
Yo, I am not going to like to you.
All the reviews I've heard is positive.
He's really going in on this movie.
And like for me, I formulate my own opinion.
So all of these are just like, just to hear what people are coming from.
But for me, I'm going to watch the movie and come away with my own thoughts and stuff like that.
But to hear, you know, one of my biggest inspiration is going in on this.
He's like, he's really giving it to the movie.
It ain't a lot to you.
It's the super advanced tech.
Maybe it's because metas have been around for as long as they've been around in this universe.
But the point is, there's this ridiculously advanced tech in this world and we're just kind of supposed to buy it.
But the tech clearly only exists so the last act can have a problem that Superman has to deal with.
Another thing Superman has to deal with, another thing cluttering up this movie.
This is absolutely a Superman movie for a whole new generation.
Superman taking on his greatest threat ever.
Social media.
Look, in the end, there's nothing hidden here.
There are no surprises.
I'm not just talking about the fact that this movie is shockingly predictable.
I'm saying whatever your mindset is, if you have excitement or fear, the answer is yes.
If you're like, oh, man, James Gunn doing Superman, I'm a little concerned by that.
I feel like there's going to be conflicting tone.
Yes.
Or if you're like James Gunn doing Superman, I loved Guardians of the Galaxy, I want to see him bring that energy to Superman.
Yes.
Like either way, it's...
You already know if you're gonna like this or not.
There's some enjoyment in this movie for sure,
but a lot of the support characters just feel one-dimensional as hell.
Guy Gardner was great.
Mr. Terrific, he was cool.
I just wish I knew more about him.
Hawk Girl?
What exactly is it yadu here?
And that's the justice gang.
And that out of place James Gun Humor just killed a lot more than it added to this movie.
And it'd probably be a better time.
If you're drunk.
Yeah.
Oh, he can.
David, if you were drunk reading, now that is, that is tough.
Because I do not remember.
I don't remember any other review talking about like he did.
That's, hey, that's, you know, obviously, you got formulated your own opinion.
But at the end of the day, Jeremy John's going in on movies.
I'm not going to say rare, but he usually likes more movies than he doesn't.
Maybe I haven't been watching him lately, but, because it's my first review I've watched
for him in a while.
But, you know, in general, I do so much as far as covering the music and gaming industry that,
you know, sometimes I can't dive into movies and TV shows.
So to watch this is, yeah, shocking.
Usually he likes a lot of movies, but he definitely has his critiques.
But this one was, he was dunking on it.
And a lot of things, as far as James Gunn, if you don't know, James Gunn doesn't have the best reputation.
And let me just put it like that.
So with that being said, this movie is coming out soon as far as Superman is coming out July 11th.
As of me recording this is July 9th.
I'm going to see it tomorrow.
I'm pretty sure at whatever movie theater.
that's in your area you could probably find an early screening but at the end of day i do believe i'm
still a proponent of i believe superman is going to be the greatest superman movie we've ever seen because i
feel like it's hard to do superman and i never liked op villains or heroes but having a team of villains
or a team of heroes going at superman is phenomenal which is why i think a lot of people like
evil superman because now a bunch of people are teaming up to take the threat out but if superman has a bunch of
different villains trying to take him out.
I don't know if we've seen that a lot.
And one time we did see it was in a Superman animated movie, but I don't know the actual,
I don't know the actual, the actual title.
It was the actual, it was Superman versus a whole team.
It was versus like a villain team.
Let me see if that pops up.
Oh, yeah, I think it was Superman versus the elite.
So Superman versus the elite is something I think worked.
but also, you know, it's kind of a, it's a tough opinion.
Well, it's a hot take because I think that works.
And also, I think what happened in hush a Batman as one of his best stories.
I think under the Red Hood is unequivocally the best Batman story I've ever seen.
Really changed my perception as a little kid.
I'm thinking I'm about to watch a family movie.
Robin, I'm not going to spoil it.
But that man, that man was good.
I was like, what, hold up.
He's supposed to win.
A little Timmy, well, I guess in my case, you know,
little Johnson was out here watching the TV.
like, hold up. When Batman going to come save him? Oh, he's not. Well, I tell you, I was so traumatized.
Man, I was watching so many superhero movies and TV shows. And then Under the Red Hood came on.
I'm watching that Robin scene. I'm like, surely, Batman's going to pop in at any moment and save Robin.
That did not happen. So that being said, Superman versus the elite, I think is one of the top tier stories for him as well.
So, yeah, with that being said, you know, one of my greatest inspirations. Now y'all know the reason for why I wear the leather jacket.
obviously you know just wanted to let y'all know that as a fun fact so um with that been said click my
link tree in my bio let me know one of my social medias what do you think about jeremy john's review
but more importantly are you going to be seeing superman in theaters and if not why or if you're watching
this after the fact i've seen the movie well no because i don't want you to spoil it but just let me
know if you like the movie or not
