Now, it brings me great joy to talk about my favorite musician because if you follow the podcast, you already know that Jermaine Cole is probably my favorite rapper of all time.
Now, of course, you know, it's not April yet.
So with that type of joke out the way, it's not April fools, but let me tell you some, you will be kidding yourself to let your inner Jermaine fan not come out when you see all of this nostalgia-like factor.
as far as him putting out a podcast basically talking about the way that he implemented some of his classics
and to the fray of hip hop and now we stack those on top of each other and you start to realize that
this man is probably one of the greatest rappers when it comes to putting words together but
on the other hand because of course that's a compliment so you know i got to follow that with something
I feel like
Jermaine Cole
is the most overrated rapper
of all time.
Now, why do I say that?
People put this man in the top three
when I believe
he does what Kendrick does
but at a much
lesser quality
as far as a level.
So as far as a lower level,
I think that's what he does
as far as the Kendrick Lane.
So in my thinking, if we're talking about the top three hip hop artists or rappers, I would think we would take into the whole, we would take the whole culture into consideration.
You know, Tupac was always considered one of the greatest rappers of all time, but was he the most lyrically inclined?
Of course not.
So now when it comes to the top three lyricists, and when I say lyrically inclined, I'm talking about a black dot, like a push or T, somebody who's like lyrically.
explicitly trying to give you quadruple
entendres, right? Obviously, Tupac had a lot of storytelling type tracks
and those was pivotal. But as far as putting words together,
nobody would say he was just the best at just straight lyrics, right?
It was the way he made you feel throughout the track and the song structure.
It was everything and a package.
So when people put J-Cone of top three and basically say,
always because he raps better than everybody else,
I think about the entire package, and I think about the entire package,
I'm like, what about a future?
What about a talented creator?
What about a Nikki?
So many artists get disrespectful.
What about a Travis?
What about Kanye?
I mean, Kanye is honestly one of the more longevity as far as his prime artists that we've seen.
Donda didn't come out that long ago.
People are quick to forget Donda, which is, in my opinion, one of Kanye's greatest albums of all time.
And that's a mouthful because we're talking about Kanye was.
So with Donda and.
ultimately still being so influential in the culture,
you have to maybe put him in the top three.
So now I'm looking at it.
And you see Cole being a general consensus top three.
And I'm just thinking to myself,
he has to be the most overrated rapper I've ever seen.
Then you add that along the fact that he's mentored and signed by Jay-Z.
Right?
He talks about being signed to Jay-Z all the time.
So now you're starting to put two and two together.
and you realize that
Jay-Z has a lot of power in his music industry,
especially hip-hop.
So maybe if he co-signed somebody,
maybe if Jay-Z co-signs you
and actually signs you
and has incentives for you to blow up,
you would do just that.
So putting two and two together,
I just ultimately started saying
that Germain is unequivocally
the most overrated rapper of all time
and I think I'm not too far off with that
because he did something
we've never seen before.
Put out a disc track,
take it down in less than 48 hours,
and then apologize in less than 48 hours,
seeing that everything he said was whack
and can't believe that he stooped to that level.
And he apologized.
Now, that is unfortunate.
So with that being said,
let's get into the real reason I wanted to talk about Jermaine,
because, of course,
people are going to bring up my favorite rapper
as far as Drake and him suing, which I definitely don't agree with, but I think that's a very interesting way to go about things versus putting out a disc track and taking it back, right?
I think suing is a hip-hop Karen-like act.
But as far as what Jermaine did, he didn't even give us the battle that we wanted as far as Kendrick versus Jermaine because he said he wouldn't have lost a battle.
Literally, he put out a...
So this is what made it even worse.
He put out a track after the whole entire beef,
and Drake gave us,
you know,
Drake and Kendra gave us the greatest beef of all time, right?
He put out a track after the fact,
it was titled like Pola Express or something.
I forget it was called.
It was like, uh,
it wasn't Polo Express.
I was just being funny.
I think it was like Portland.
No, it wasn't Portland.
There was something in Antonio.
Maybe it was Port.
Yeah, here we go.
Okay.
So back in October,
he put out Port Antonio, right?
And I kid you not.
Nobody was even mentioning Germain
because everybody was on my favorite rappers.
You know what?
Because he was getting mutilated verbally, right?
So when Germain came out of the woodworks
to put out Port Antonio and basically said,
I wonder if lost a battle.
I would have lost a bro.
That's the type of stuff that makes me understand
that maybe this career as far as podcasting
is a great one for me because I've been telling y'all that this man was the most overrated rapper of all time
and this just immensely because the delusional aspect of thinking you was going to win a battle
when your best retort to Kendrick was you're making trash music is probably the worst angle you could take
when battling Kendrick so if that was your angle and now you say you wouldn't have lost a battle
you would have lost a bro what would Kendrick would got a got mad at I think Kendrick had something
he could have said about you
that would have made you look a certain way
forever, sort of like
a not like us versus Drake, right?
So, yeah,
Jermaine's just consistently
proves my point of him being a most
overrated rapper. And, you know,
that's why you should definitely rate this five stars and, you know,
click the bell icon to be notified
when I cover the latest gaming and music news.
Because, you know, let's just say,
we definitely have predicted a couple of things
in our journey as far as content creation.
So anyways, 2014, all of that just to say,
2014 Forest Hills Drive 10 year anniversary is now out on all DSPs.
Don't you love the duality of being able to criticize somebody,
but also promote them music?
Because, you know, it's not like any of this is personal.
It's just a friendly fade.
You know what I mean?
He should keep it that way.
No, actually, all right, my fault.
So with that being said, 2014, Forest Hills Drive.
10 year anniversary
named after
Cole's childhood home
of course a lot of his fans know that
and it debuted number one
with 353,000
first week sales. Let me talk about
a impactful
mass album when it comes to the masses.
Tempted Germain is one of the leading
hip-hop artists, especially from a sales
aspect and then of course
one of the most annoying
titles in regards to
Gurgitated phrases, I keep hearing from Jermaine fans.
Platinum, say it with me, with no features.
Who in the world cares?
Who cares? If it's your first album and you don't have no features, I don't think that's a feat, right?
Everybody's going to tune in because obviously you've already been cemented by Jay-Z.
So, you know, we already know the power that Jay-Z has.
I mean, if Jay-Z is your mentor and you failed as a rapper, let's just say you probably wasn't that good, my brother,
because that's probably the best manager you could ever have in life.
Like that type of streams that Jay-Z could pool underground rappers who have bars for days,
which they could have that type of mentorship and leverage when it comes to being mentored by Jay-Z.
So anyways, back to J-Main.
So this man is selling a lot of, uh,
What was he selling? He was selling something.
Oh yeah, Madison Square Garden.
Okay, so he had a concert and he sold it out, right?
Sold out fan favorite event, well, a concert for his fans, right?
And he played fan favorites like Fire Squad and Wet Dreams.
I actually like Fire Squad.
Wet Dreams, worst performing song ever.
Who in the world is trying to rap about what, I don't think you understand the subject matter,
of what dreams like performing that is like bro we're not trying to hear that we're not trying to see you
on stage talking about the first time in your math class like how about you talk about the neighbor
selling dope and tracks that actually uplifts the energy we ain't trying to hear about the first
time you lost your you know what you know anyways um with that being said a lot of people enjoyed the
concert of course he played a lot of deep cuts like two face and grown simba and that was because
this concert at Madison Square Garden
was essentially for his avid fans
and this is like the greatest PR move
like you put out a podcast basically
reminding everybody of
your status in the game
which is definitely undeniable
you put out some of your more classic bodies of work
and then to end it all off
because basically he finished off his
his podcast which have I covered there yet
I think that's for my episode
so I think I've saved yeah I've saved that for my episode
but I've already covered his podcast extensively
and even showed you where to sign up
But basically it's already completed.
I think the last episode was released around like December 10th or 12, something like that.
So it's all out, right?
And then he has his sold-out Madison Square Garden concert.
I mean, it really just showcases some of the best marketing minds behind these rappers
because that's a great strategy to showcase nostalgia and then showcase status.
Nostalgia, then status.
Because now you see the nostalgia of all these classic bodies of work built up.
Then you go to Madison Square Garden.
sell it out which rarely i mean i'm not it's not many rappers that can do that right so now you're
showing your current status and it makes people forget that you ultimately drop the disc track
towards kensrick clamor title seven minute drill took it down in less than 24 uh 24 hours and in less than
48 hours you basically apologize to kendrick at your own concert title dreamville fest where your
whole concert goers where your core fans and you basically told them to their face
that I put out some whack music and we you love Kendrick I love Kendrick too it's almost like
the first 48 but instead of trying to prevent a murder he realized that the prevention that was
happening was for himself anyways um yeah unfortunate for germane hopefully one day he understands
that hip hop is a contact sport this is not the NBA he's having NBA like mannerisms when it comes
to the footballish sport that is hip hop, right?
And that's why he will forever be in hip hop timeout.
And there will be one thing he could do.
There's one thing he could do to get out of hip hop timeout.
Because if you don't know, J. Cole used to be dark skin.
But one day, one night, right, just some random night.
And top dog from TD basically talked about this, you know, a punch from TD.
You know, Jermaine used to be dark scammed.
But, you know, of course, there was this instance where him, Kendrick, a top dog.
It was at a club celebrating the control verse or whatever, you know, just to check the temperature.
And Kendrick and Jermain already friends.
So, of course, you know, Jermaine copying all type of pleas.
You know, I'm not even, he was probably like, Kendrick, I don't even, don't even worry about that, man.
You know, I don't care about being number one, right?
So, of course, they can hang out after he drops the control verse.
Did he, on the other hand, had a huge problem?
Did he come up in the spot?
basically like hey playboy i don't like nothing you're sitting on control which you mean you the king of new york
germane and diddy already had some problems back in the day right so and this goes back to my comedic
point right germane used to be dark skin but then what happened was there was a whole kerfuffle right
between ditty and cold diddy slapped the black out of cold so bad that he only regained 50% of it so that's
why he'll forever be light skin and that's why he currently is light skin because did he slap
half of the black out of him so that being said click my link to me in my bio let me know one of my
social media's what do you think about germane's latest album 2014 forest hills drive in a 10 year
anniversary and at the end of the day what is your favorite contribution from germane cold
when it comes to hip-hop
