Starting point is 00:00:04 Now, for long time listeners of the podcast, y'all already know how I'm fin to cover this track. So let me just get my objective analytics out of the way, right? Jermaine currently has zero tracks in the top 50 and zero albums in a top 50. Now, of course, I'm just pointing out objective facts before I get into this track because y'all already know how I feel about Jermaine. But besides that, Jermaine has dropped a new track titled Cloud. And no, ladies and gentlemen, it is not out on DSPs. If you go to DSPs currently, the last thing you will see is Friday Night Lights, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. And y'all want to know when that album came out, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, you know, it may say it in the title, right?
Starting point is 00:00:50 That came out December 9th, 2014. Now, of course, my sentiments are on the entire track, and I know Jermaine fans are going to hate me for this, because I just have to be honest because this track is absolute. Yeah, listen. That's cool motherfucking bars, nigga. You know nothing about that. So y'all thought I was going to come in here and trash this track. See, you know, whenever somebody puts words together on a master class type level,
Starting point is 00:01:22 you have to give kudos because, of course, not a lot of human beings to put words, especially make it flow that, you know, make it so immaculate to the point where, not only are you getting a very heavy quality driven lyrical message across but it also sounds great to the ears now the chorus i ain't gonna lie the chorus is a little monotonous and could get a little boring when you listen to it over and over but as far as the bars yeah listen that's cool motherfucking bars nigger you know nothing about that i don't know what type of flow this man was using but the way he came on clouds for the first and and second verse was beyond phenomenal. I mean, it was just astronomical levels of lyricism displayed on clouds. This is definitely, in my opinion, the best track of 2025. As far as rapping and putting words together,
Starting point is 00:02:25 especially getting across the messages like he was with the AI and things that in nature with Larry Jackson talked about this before. but basically when it comes to music it's been depreciated to a point where people don't really value your music you can stream whatever album a song you want for actually i have my subscription set to auto so i actually don't know how much it is let's let's figure out how much it costs a stream because in general as far as purchasing it obviously it's way less so does it cost to stream music do on all platforms just to get a comparison right so the the point that germain was getting to is that if you purchase music it helps the artist out a lot more right but now because of recent times
Starting point is 00:03:17 in the evolution of technology companies have went the way of streaming simply due to the fact that they own everything so now that they own everything because you don't technically own it if you don't own it and the companies own it now you are forever in debt to them to stay subscribed to their subscription model right Spotify currently charges 1299 a month Apple music Apple music charges 11 99 a month well no 11 dollars a month uh title charges 11 a month amazon charges 11 a month all you get the point right so to put in perspective that's like going to a store full of music and basically If you were to purchase one album, that would probably be $6 to $7 to $8.
Starting point is 00:04:07 And that's like on the light side. That's back in the day type prices, right? Nowadays, you can pay a subscription of $12 a month and the entire store. You just get to listen to whatever you want. But at the end of the day, when you leave that store, you have to put it back, right? That's basically the comparison that Jermaine is making where you have music being consumed at a, at a chart topping level as far as analytics. are concerned. But as far as the return on investment, because it's so minuscule, as far as the
Starting point is 00:04:38 barrier of entry to put money and get actual projects and songs, these artists aren't receiving that a type of return that they usually would get if you just went in there, maybe purchased their project. Now, of course, the counter argument to that is, of course, the access, the accessibility for consumers who may not have as much money as the next person, right? So now the subscription model makes sense to them. But now it's turned to the point where now everybody, even if you have the money, they're rather just purchase a subscription because that money, I mean, that track and stuff is not going anywhere. Like even Apple, along with their subscription, if you purchase a track or a project, you can download it. So not only can you subscribe,
Starting point is 00:05:21 now you can purchase from iTunes. So that's the counter argument to what Jermaine is saying. So that's the only counter argument I could assume that he will face as far as backlux. But for the most part, the rapping on this is phenomenal and of course brings me back to the ultimate point, which is why I point out Jermaine being the most overrated rapper of all time, which is I think this level of lyricism and the ability to put words together like he did is why he's in hip-hop timeout. To put out a track titled Seven-Minute Drill targeted Torres Kendrick and then to, to completely backtrack at your own festival to the point where you're telling your audience, basically persuading them to agree with you and the fact that, oh, Kendrick is great. Y'all love Kendrick too, right? Like, no, my brother, he said, forget the big three.
Starting point is 00:06:18 It's just big Kendrick. You know what I mean? Like, he's not with all that camaraderie and you're over here acting like it's all kumbaya when he's just going for you and Drake's throat. So it's just, that's why he's in hip-hop timeout for those who are little. confused on that point. So anyways, with that's being said, this was ultimately dropped via his blog, the algorithm. I don't know if Jermaine's trying to steal my whole way, but you know, at the end of the day, he is one of the greatest rappers ever do it. So, you know, I guess it's nice to have a certain
Starting point is 00:06:50 revenue stream outside of just making music. So anyways, Clouds, he said, I just wanted to share, made this a few days ago. Then I added a second verse and was like, man, I got a blog now. I can put whatever I want up there. Well, ladies the gentleman, hold on. That's just not how it works. J-Cole is under Indoscope Records.
Starting point is 00:07:11 I forget who Endoscope Records is on. Let me find out who Interscope Records label. Okay, let's just find this out right quick. Because Jermaine and Drake think they're slick, which is why every
Starting point is 00:07:25 major machine is trying to put it into this. Because putting out music on your blog does not mean that you could receive revenue from it and the music label that you're signed to won't get a percentage from it because I don't know I don't know what y'all think but LeBron just can't go play basketball for another professional team while he's signed with the Lakers like if you're playing basketball they don't care where it is right we're going to need some type of precaution some type of royalty from your appearance if you're currently signed with us right and that's usually how the music
Starting point is 00:07:56 industry works just a hot more intricate as far as how they put you in 360 deals so anyways I endoscope is under universal music group which is one of well you already know i talk if you follow the podcast you already know how i talk about universal music group is one of the biggest major labels in the world no not one of that's disrespectful they are the biggest i mean as far as to put in perspective universal music group hey and i say this all the time just to put in perspective universal music group has 59% of the entire music market share so that means the entire 100% UMG has 59% with that being said i think they know the way around uh artists trying to drop free music and putting it on blogs so anyways um i'm pretty sure whenever he puts this out puts this out on uh dsps he would have to
Starting point is 00:08:47 put like interscope records under it because of course you can't just drop free music especially not when you're signed so uh with the blog though it's very interesting as him promoting his music in this type of way could lead to a successful dspe release so I could see a timeline where they allow him to mark a market and promote this track solely on his blog and they get a percentage from that and then when he puts it on his DSPs business as usual obviously I'm just assuming but as far as listening to the music industry and learning how contracts are made up and basically structured is never in the majority favor of the artist just just know that if they're coming to you with the deal is because they think
Starting point is 00:09:31 they could receive some type of R-O-I from you. There's not just no charity music label, they're just giving out money for free. So anyways, especially not for Jermaine. So with that being said, the album, the falloff, that's probably what y'all are wanting to know as far as the update on that. Well, I'm just as knowledgeable about as y'all
Starting point is 00:09:52 as far as this particular subject because we don't know when the fall off's coming because this man actually fell off as far as the actual hunger of wanting to be. the top rapper i don't want to hear any more bars about him being the best rapper in the game now of course with clouds it was a phenomenal track because he's talking about more of a broader uh bird's-eye view type of perspective as far as on the music game and of course on just AI in general because AI is definitely going to evolve a lot of things so either you evolve with it or you get left
Starting point is 00:10:26 behind germain's basically laying out a lot of sentiments in this track to show you how AI can end up leaving you left behind. But hey, that's for y'all to pick up that gym from Dremaine. So anyways, yeah, so we don't know when the album's coming. Hopefully he doesn't have any, I'm the best rapper or I'm the top rapper. I don't need to hear any of them bars because when you put out seven minute drill, you expeditiously pulled it off of DSPs. So how about you talk about how you could have been or would have been like on Drusky's show,
Starting point is 00:10:55 the best rapper? We could be like frame it like that and then you could talk about like, man, I could have been the best rapper, but I was scared to. the Kendrick. Like, I like bars like that. Let's, let's, let's keep it eight more than 92. You know what I'm saying? Like, let's, let's, let's be completely honest to the masses. So anyways, um, that's basically all I had about Jermaine. It's really not too much to talk about with him, especially when it comes to projects releasing. Because if you don't know, he is in hip hop timeout. There's a reason why he put out a whole podcast letting y'all know the classic material that he's giving you throughout his discography. And then if you go to his Instagram, you realize that one of the last few posts is him headlonged. in the garden because basically one of the biggest ways to let the public know that you're still loved is to go on tour so now when germain went on tour subsequently after he did one of the worst new uh executed one of the worst moves in rap history as far as just dropping the disc track and pulling it back uh he went on tour for uh the forest hills drive 10 year anniversary which was
Starting point is 00:11:58 in Madison Square Garden and that was December 6th, 2024. So that's why that's one of the latest posts on his Instagram because that's basically him letting the world know that he still love currently and the podcast that he dropped, which I covered. Let me see.
Starting point is 00:12:14 If you haven't heard the podcast before, see if I can find this. Powered up, no. I really call this man, Jermaine in my titles. This is hilarious. So J-Co released Is it powered?
Starting point is 00:12:34 Was it powered up? I don't think it was powered up. I don't even think I covered this blog. What in the world? Hold on, let me sure. It's a J-Witt-a-Dot? And maybe J-Wad-Dot.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Oh, here it is. It's J-Wad-Dots. There's just so many ways you can type this man name. That's why I just call him Jermaine. Anyways, inevitable. That's what it is. It's a limited audio series and basically it was this podcast series
Starting point is 00:12:54 talking about all his classics throughout the years. And it was more of a memory, a stroll down memory lane starting from November 18th, 2024. It was 10 episodes and you can access it through the exclusive inevitable website with a $10 access fee. And as Jayco alongside his manager, I think that's how he said, Hamad, and basically to talk about his rise and success. So it's a very high quality listen, especially if you care about hip hop. So I would definitely highly suggest people go check that out.
Starting point is 00:13:31 But yeah, so the inevitable limited audio series, this is just an extension of that of J-Co dropping clouds on his blog, basically continuing his blog error post-performing one of the worst rap moves in history. So with that being said, click my link to my bio. Let me know one of my social media is. What do you think about Jermaine's new track clouds that's not out on DSPs? because it's out on other platforms like SoundCloud, YouTube, things of that nature. And what is your biggest takeaway from Jermaine's bounceback from him taking off seven-minute drill from DSPs?
