Starting point is 00:00:00 So J.I.D. has an album coming soon titled Forever in a Day. I don't know who his PR team is, but attaching himself with Lil Yadi and calling his group, the black boys, has to be counterproductive. I don't care what you say. I don't care what your sentiments are. My personal opinion and perspective on this whole roll. out for his album is completely atrocious. And not because of J.I.D.'s like, it's because of who he decided to attach himself to.
Starting point is 00:00:41 As y'all probably already know, if you're an avid listener of the podcast, I believe Lil Yadi objectively and subjectively puts out the worst music I've ever heard in my life. As far as audio entertainment goes, Lil Yadi, is bottom of the barrel when it comes to quality. So when an artist like J.I.D., who I love, who also has one of my favorite tracks of this year that came from the Cree Three soundtrack in February 3, 2023, is when this particular track came out,
Starting point is 00:01:26 because this was a single for the soundtrack. That's how they knew it was fire. Michael B. Jordan heard this himself, and he was like, hey, I know we got Jay, I know we got J. Cole on the soundtrack, but this is a single. So my boy by J.I.D. and Lute, you know, shout out to Lute, put out this track titled, My Boy for the Cree Three soundtrack. And let me tell you some. That's one of my favorite tracks of the year. So to see him rolling out for his album titled Forever in a Day that's going to be followed by a collaborative album for Metro Boomin. I'm under the impression that this man is making music. at a high tier rate
Starting point is 00:02:10 well at a fast pace rate let's just say that because of course the black boys thing came out of nowhere for me I wasn't really too cognizant of him putting together a group titled the black boys but whatever I mean if you want to bring in Louis Yaddy just to show the masses
Starting point is 00:02:30 how superior you are as an artist or as a lyricist then you know if that's the path you want to go down, albeit is your creative, you know, process, and you want to showcase everybody, showcase to everybody what lyrics it sounds like and what one of the worst artists to ever Grace and Mike sounds like. So this pairing is very interesting,
Starting point is 00:02:55 even with the title that will not get past because that's just atrocious. Like imagine going through your roll of, decks of names for a group and landing on black boys somehow some way it just has to be racist i know both of those guys are black but hey i don't know if the a and r at the major label that they're on told them that hey y'all got to go with this this is this is going to do it hey if y'all call y'all yourselves this this is this is going to do it for the masses i don't know who came up with the idea i'm just i'm a ignorantly say it was a white man because ain't no way
Starting point is 00:03:33 J.I.D. and L. Yadi came up with that name by themselves. So anyways, one of the tracks is called Half Doing Dope. And then the other one is titled Van Gogh, which, of course, Lil Yad and J.D. are collaborating. Obviously, I'm not going to spend too much time on this because it's an EP. I usually like to review or get first impressions of single tracks because if it's a project, granted, if it's only two songs, I still don't like to give a full opinion because I have to listen to it over and over, just, you know, to respect the artists. But I can definitively say after listening to half doing dope, J.I.D. is back in his bag as a lyricist.
Starting point is 00:04:15 I mean, after my boy came out this year, I was set. I was like, J.I.D. already gave me what I think is a classic. I know a lot of people are going to be like, hey, you're giving a lot of praise to a track that came off a soundtrack. But if you look at the recent years, I mean, some of the biggest tracks are off of soundtracks. I mean, we have Spider-Man across the Spider-Verse soundtrack. We have the Cree 3 soundtrack. We had the Wakanda Forever soundtrack with Rihanna and her track. And then the weekend, his single off of the Avatar, The Way of Water soundtrack.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Like, we've been getting some quality tracks from these soundtracks. And not even to mention to, you know, shout out the weekend again for his own atrocious show titled The Idol. Fun watch, but very terrible. He put out a bunch of singles for that show. and they were all fire. If you put that out as an album, as a collective project, I would say that's my favorite album of the year. That's how fire I think those tracks were.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Like, whoever Johnny Depp's daughter was, she was going crazy on the vocals. I'm not even talking about the show, because that's a whole other bag in itself. She was going crazy there too. But anyways, as far as the audio content she was giving us in the soundtrack, the weekend was Kanye West type ANR
Starting point is 00:05:27 for that project, because that was phenomenal. Every feature he had from the, little babies to the Playboy Cardys to double fantasy with future like I know we're talking about JID I'm sorry I got on the tangent but I just want to bring up how some of these tracks are coming from soundtracks and some of the best music we've heard as if you've been covering or following the hip-hop field we haven't had really too many good tracks I mean we're out here saying ski and I still don't understand so I don't know what that means but obviously I know that's from sexy red you know shout out to her but I'm not vibing with it so
Starting point is 00:06:01 So, yeah, this EP also features BabyTron, and Van Gogh was previewed by somebody and actually leaked. So it led up to a messy release for this EP because imagine you put it out a two-pack EP and one of them leaks. Like, that's half your project right there. But anyways, the EP, of course, shows the collaborative effort between J.I.D. and Lodi. and that's all I have to say, man. It's not really too much I can get into when Lil Yadi is on the same track. I don't care how fire J.I.D. is rapping.
Starting point is 00:06:38 It is not going on my playlist. I refuse to put an artist, such as Lil Yadi's low-quality self in my playlist. So anyways, click my link to you in my bio. Let me know in one of my social medias. What do you think about J.I.D. and Lil Yadi coming together to call themselves the black boys? And will you be given this two-pack
Starting point is 00:07:00 a listen.
