Starting point is 00:00:04 3 p.m. April 21st, 2025. There was a tweet that was put out and it said, this song is called Cousin. About my cousin that's locked in jail for life for killing a pregnant lady a few years after I told him we wouldn't look at dirty magazines together anymore. The tweet goes on to say, perhaps in my self-centered mess, I felt it was my fault that I showed him those dirty magazines.
Starting point is 00:00:42 When he was six, we acted out what we saw. And then it continues. My dad had Playboy magazines, but the magazines I found that at the top of my mom's closet were different. My name is Jay and I. But then, you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop. Like, what's going on? So, ladies and gentlemen, the rest of this tweet is something I cannot say because of this being a PG podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:12 But let's just say, Kanye West may no longer be from Chicago. He may be from another state that basically those type of situations happen often. Let me just put it like that. As when it comes to the track cousin, when it comes to, Kanye West and him being from Chicago when it comes from when it comes to Kanye West's iconic status in the music industry there's nothing wrong in liking what you like but of course when age is at a certain minimal level as far as being six and then Kanye talking about doing it until he was 14.
Starting point is 00:02:01 There's a lot of questions in play. And maybe, just maybe, the authorities need to be involved. But of course, the authorities were already involved, as his cousin is in jail serving a life sentence. But as far as Kanye West and what happened or what he claims happened in that tweet is very interesting because I'm not going to lie to you. That is one of the most outlandish things I've ever heard in life. I think Kanye West has been making it a point to tweet some of the craziest things ever. and see if he can drum up engagement from it.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Because I already told you all, I'm not covering Kanye West unless there's music involved. Well, guess what? There's all type of music involved to the point where there's an entire album out from Kanye West and nobody could care less. But then, you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Like, what's going on? We're talking about Kanye West, ladies and gentlemen. The same guy who just last year, February 2024 put out an independent album that went number one. When was the last? Hold up. Because as far as the independent album going number one,
Starting point is 00:03:09 I don't know the last time that happened. One album. Let me see. Number one album happened. Because as far as the music market share, right? Like I always say, UMG is the top dog. They currently have 52% of the entire music market share. Sony has 22% Warner has.
Starting point is 00:03:34 17% and then others which is smaller labels and independent acts they have a whopping 9% of the entire 100% of the music market share currently so when it comes to independent albums let alone just singles they don't have a lot of the market share when it comes to the music industry so going number one as an independent is very substantial to the point where the last independent album to reach number one was actually i don't know because it's saying bad bunny but he's under remus entertainment coney west is strictly independent so i don't think that's correct so let me see i mean actual dependent artists this is why it's good to fact check because we do not spread fake news around here but while that's uh while i'm searching that basically when it comes to albums and singles Kanye doesn't
Starting point is 00:04:42 have any tracks charting in a top of in a billboard 200 he doesn't have any albums charting in a billboard 50 or top 50 so Kanye's iconic status in the music industry is at an all-time low as far as engagement and the machines supporting the masses being uh and captured by what he's putting out right so when Kanye West puts out an entire world or three album and nobody could care less right that is insanity because of the amount of engagement he drives usually when he puts out albums, which is why I'm bringing up the fact that Voltures 1 was one of the first independent albums ever to go number one back in February 24. And there's really no other album I could really look at.
Starting point is 00:05:31 I mean, they're talking about blonde by Frank Ocean being a strong candidate, but that was him fulfilling his death jam concert, contract. they're saying backspacer by pearl pearl gem back in 2009 so you got to go back to 2009 to actually look at something that's distributed independently as monkey wrench records was behind it but technically a backspacer owned that label and distribute that through that label so technically it's not a major label deal but it's the same as working with a major label because they was distributing it through deals like with Target is similar to when jZ put out 444 through i think it was verizon it was some phone company and that phone company like bought all type of copies for 444 to make that sales
Starting point is 00:06:21 look even better so there's no other example i could use Kanye west is one of the last premier independent acts to go number one with an album why is that so significant because now because of his absence from the charts he's putting out tracks to try to drum up the engagement like he had with Voltra's 1 with putting out tracks like cousin talking about what he's talking about putting out tracks on world war three where he's talking about a lot of different things especially with his um wife currently who is Bianca hinting at marriage issues and things of that nature and there's a lot of disturbing scenes and certain videos that i remember academics premiering as far as after the interview that he had with Kanye West to the point where
Starting point is 00:07:08 you're looking at Kanye and you're realizing this is a man that's desperate for attention he is seeking attention at any at any means necessary so wanting people to listen to your music by saying these type of things to drum up engagement is beyond saddening because of Kanye's iconic stature and a music industry and the only reason i'm even covering him talking about these things that he did to his cousin right is because there's actual music attached to it. So if you look up Kanye West World War III on SoundCloud, Twitter, YouTube, it should pop up if it hasn't been taken down. Somebody else probably re-uploaded it.
Starting point is 00:07:50 And then when it comes, because these are this album, these singles, none of these are on DSP. You have to realize Kanye West is independent and everybody in the mama hates Kanye West right now as far as from a conglomerate standpoint. to the point where shopify ended up ending ties with conier west because let's see shopify so with shopify and coney west you come to realize that not only is he getting cut off from adidas from his uh what was it called the yeezy brand and things of that nature
Starting point is 00:08:34 and then of course when it comes to shopify and Kanye going to independent route is it's as far as going to direct the consumer Shopify shut down Kanye West Easy website back in February 11th, 2025 because of what Kanye West was doing as far as his, let's just say, very racist remarks. Let's just put it like that as he was showcasing a lot of people's pain on merch and I don't think that's going to be supported by any e-commerce. But it is interesting how Kanye has been canceled by everybody especially these e-commerce sites as when shopify shut down kaney west is independent straight
Starting point is 00:09:17 to the consumer and impacted him so much to the point where now he's only promoting easy co easy dot com because guess what that's all he has left so that's kind of sad because he claimed that he earned 40 million the day after the controversy and baselessly accused shopper five storing brand data to exclude merchants from a profit while expressing disdain for the platform so there's a lot of things that happen as far as with his partnership with adidas they ended his a part his uh partnership with gap that ended all these was back in 2022 fast forward in 2025 with the last thing that kept him relevant in the industry as far as music he is nowhere to be found on the charts so now he's making tracks about doing you know what to his cousin to drum up engagement sad day in history so that being said click my link sure of my book
Starting point is 00:10:09 bio, let me know on one of my social medias. What do you think about Kanye West? And just all of his business ventures going under, I didn't even talk about how Donda Academy, that lawsuit that nobody's talking about anymore, that the lawsuit as far as wrong for termination and chaotic school leadership, that's settled.
Starting point is 00:10:27 And you know, when the settlement happens, as you've seen with Shannon's chart, let me chill. When a settlement happens, that is basically to pay somebody to go away, right? So now the settlement does not claim innocence or guilty, but it is undisclosed, so we would never know. But let's just say that the Donda Academy
Starting point is 00:10:44 had a whole lawsuit that was settled, and guess what? The Academy no longer exists. And this was just recently. So I'm surprised nobody's talking about it, but hey, that's what a notorious mass effect is for it. So with that being said, click my link to your bio. Let me know on one of my social media is.
Starting point is 00:10:58 What do you think about Kanye West's track, cousin? What do you think about his latest album, World War III? And what do you think about Kanye desperately seeking attention by any means necessary.
