Now, we're talking about Little Wayne, we have to get into the rest of the Carter's.
Because of course, my coverage of Little Wayne's album, The Carter Six, has been extensive,
especially getting into the marketing strategies, the most popular track from the album currently,
which is the track hip hop that features Big Exit Plug that's set to be the 26 most play
track in the world.
And of course, there's future chart predictions as far as for June 21st.
So with that being said, that's objectively speaking the most listened to album from his career from his Carter six currently.
But but this specific segment, I want to put in a more broad, I want to put in perspective in a Carter series way because when you look at the Carter, the initial Carter that came out 2004, when you look at the Carter 2 that came out 2005, when you look at the Carter 3 that came out 2008, the Carter 4 that came out 2011,
the Carter 5 that came out 2018 and of course the Carter 6 that came out this year in 2025 so
I wanted to go over the first week sales just to put it in perspective that even though a lot of people
are looking at this is from a quality perspective not it's definitely not justifiable to name it
in addition to the Carter series I will also say that objectively speaking
this is also the least performing Carter series in his run as far as this being the six one.
So the closest one that this would come to as far as the first week sales was the Carter initially in 2004.
That sold $116,000 first week.
Then you had the Carter 2 in 2005 that sold $240,000 first week.
Then you had the Carter 3 that came out in 2008.
And that sold 1 point, that sold a million and $5,000.
units first week which that objectively speaking is the most successful carter addition uh in the
series right so carter three objectively speaking is the most popular uh carter then you had the carter four
that came out 2011 and that sold nine hundred sixty four thousand first week so that was very
interesting because that even though nine nine hundred sixty four first week is a phenomenal
accomplishment it was definitely less than the carter three so people is looking at it as um
It was definitely a great installment quality-wise, right?
But when it comes to sales, we was thinking that he would keep increasing, right?
Because, I mean, selling a million units first week,
because it's very hard to replicate as Drake's seen with views.
Like, I think views is his best performing first week ever, objectively speaking.
So, and he's never came close to that since.
And I think that happened around like, what, 2016, I believe.
When did views come out?
Because views came out after back to the, okay, so yeah, May 6th, 2016.
So Drake has never had that type of success as far as first week sales since then.
Same with Little Wayne, but some would say that perception-wise, they got even bigger.
So I don't know how those two correlate, but at the end of the day,
there's a lot of smoking mirrors behind the scenes.
So even though you see an artist getting bigger as far as brand deals,
and marketing promotion.
When it comes to straight music,
the car to three and the car of four
had a significant drop.
Well, no, the car of three to the car to four
had a little drop off.
So a lot of people was surprised by that.
Anyways, then the humongous weight,
the seven year to be exact,
weight for the car to five,
and that sold $480,000 first week.
So that was very interesting
because now a lot of people are looking at it's like,
okay, Little Wayne is definitely a decline.
objectively speaking because there's not as many there's not as many people tuned in and then of course
you have the car to six that came out this year and that sold 110 000 equivalent album units so
um i just wanted to go over that to put in perspective for little wayne fans out there because
obviously for me i'm always called little wayne the most influential rapper of all time and i'ma
put the respect deserved on his name but i think some people may only look at sales to be like oh look
he's falling off but when you look at it in a contractual standpoint if a lot of people hands are in the
pot is more incentivized they're more incentivized to make the album look better as far as sales
perception right maybe if you own a little bit more of your album maybe you're just left on your
own to market your album and make yourself seem hot so i think when there's less hands in the
pot that the numbers are less bloviated if that makes sense so uh i think little wayne currently
in the landscape that we're in with no rappers wanted to drop because all of the attention going to
drake and kendrick i think he had a solid outing but of course we have to compare it to other
outings like the biggest in this specific year because i think gen x came out last year right
so let me see uh kendrick kendricks kendricks genx came out yeah okay so november 22nd
2024 so technically not technically the biggest release first week for a rap album not
dracon party next door's r&b album for a rap album he had the biggest debut as far as uh music
which debuted with 3002 000 units first week little way is obviously now on that level anymore
as far as engagement but quality wise
Some will say that, well, a lot of people are saying Carda 6 is not that good.
But basically, what I usually say for the podcast is that if you sell a lot,
does not mean you are making the greatest music possible.
But if you sell below everybody, it does not mean you're making absolute worst music.
The two don't correlate.
Just because you sell a lot does not mean you make high quality music.
Just because you don't sell means you're making absolute.
It doesn't mean you make an absolute garbage, right?
So when I go over sales, that's all it is.
I'm basically just comparing consumption for their music.
And of course, there's a lot of smoking mirrors, but there's a huge difference between
3002,000 first week and 110,000 first week.
So I'm just putting in perspective of the modern landscape.
Little Wayne had a solid outing, but obviously comparing it to the best performing album of
this year, he's not at the peak of rappers consumption-wise, which he used to be as far.
far as 2008 with the carter three and of course with the car to four so this segment was literally
to give you more of a sales talk as far as the perception what the current landscape looks like and
hopefully if you're a little wayne fan out there this doesn't hurt your heart to know that he's not
at the top engagement wise but you know at the end of day little way is still a legend and when it
comes to brand deals i'm pretty sure he gets way bigger bags than play with carding when it comes to
sponsorships and things that nature. So consumption simply through music is not the only way that
these people making money, especially when you're a legacy act. Because if you don't believe me,
then look at the NBA Finals. NBA Finals currently has the days by Little Wayne featuring Bono
premiering all throughout the finals as far as the Indiana Pacers versus Oklahoma City Thunder.
So they have that Little Wayne track just integrated in the NBA Finals. And of course, that helps out
with the overall sales for the Carter 6.
So there's a lot of brand deals like that that Little Wayne is going to get over certain artists
that may, as far as from objective metric, seem bigger simply because of the legacy
and a discography that he has and the iconic stature of Little Wayne.
So that's essentially what I wanted to get into.
And of course, once again, the best performing track off of this album is hip hop by Little
Wayne, of course, and Big X the Plug.
And so shout out to Big X to Plug for having the most.
popular album off of the car to six if you don't know future chart data projects that it
will be the 26 most play track in the world on June 21st so with that being said
click my link share in my bio let me know one of my social medias what do you think about
the car to six by little wayne and if you've listened to it what is your favorite
track on the album and what do you think this means for the overall legendary career
for little wayne
