Starting point is 00:00:03 It is time to get into arguably the most influential rapper of all time. But then you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop. Like, what's going on? As six months into the year, I kind of realized that hip hop, especially from a superstar standpoint, have not been releasing albums at the frequency that we were accustomed to, right? Why is that? Because size 7 and Aubrey Cairn is out.
Starting point is 00:00:33 here beefing so besides that point right little wayne is out here with his album the card is six and not only is he out here with an additional installment to the cardis series but he also has some pretty big name rappers and artists in general on this album whether it's bono as far as you two whether it's jelly roll whether it's big sean big x the plug there's a lot of features on this particular album but I cannot help but to notice two individuals that was missing from the album you guys see that's the problem mama leaving right there because first we're going to get to the objective facts before I start getting into my overall coverage of the album but essentially well objectively speaking little way is the Carter six is aiming for a number two debut on billboard with a
Starting point is 00:01:31 110,000 units first week. Now that's a phenomenal W if I've ever seen one because everybody in the mama was coming out trying to say that the Carter 6th rollout was abysmal, right? To the point where the fake track list that came out that also had Nikki and Drake on the track listing, right? I think that did a lot of help for the marketing rollout because now a lot of people was very, in tune to the release of the Carter 6. Of course, it was disappointed when they eventually found out that Nikki and Drake wasn't on the album.
Starting point is 00:02:11 But initially, everybody was really excited because they believed that a Drake verse was coming on the Carter 6th. So I would say when people are critiquing the marketing rollout, you never know where that fake tracklist came from. That's all I'm going to say. You know, there's a lot of ways to affect the masses and it's your job to figure that out. so anyways with the carter series this is the sixth installment right of course we have the carter one carter two carter three that had the mammoth of a hit lollipop carter four that had of course one of hip hop's best classics as far as in history and six foot seven foot and of course you had a car to be fair that album's two times platinum and i always say just because you sell
Starting point is 00:02:54 a lot does not mean you make high quality and just because you don't sell a lot means you make absolute trash the two don't correlate right i when it came to the car to five i had high praise for it and essentially a lot of people were not messing with the album i had no idea that y'all was out here critiquing the car of five do y'all not know that's where mona lisa came from like little wayne and kendrick locked in like i've never seen two lyricists locked in before on a conceptual track as far as Mona Lisa. But with that out the way, the main thing I wanted to talk about, especially with the Carter 6th, is there was something specific. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:03:37 So as far as chart data, right, the future projections for June 21st, hip hop seems to be the most, not seems to be. It's going to be the most popular track off of his album and it's projected to be the 26th most play track. and that's with big x to plug featuring jones there's a case there's a real case to be made that big ex the plug is out here really carrying um really carrying the mantle for up-and-coming hip-hop artists because as far as up-and-coming hip-hop artists in the year of 2025 i mean if you're not played with cardi because you know he's technically already established uh king carson would technically be up-and-coming but i'm not going to lie to you i think there was some funny stuff when he went number one And now, of course, oh, that's what I was looking up.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Okay, so as far as when I, let me see if I could find this. Okay, so as far as when I covered, was it the Carter? Let me see, Little Wayne. I believe I covered the Carter 5. Oh, okay, yeah, that was another, okay. But anyways, with Ken Carson, right? I did cover Ken Carson, and I talked about how Ken Carson, his album, More Chaos, debuted at number one now I'm not saying that there was any funny business but let's
Starting point is 00:04:56 just say his album's completely off of the charts and is a it's 50 slots right if you debut at number one and then next week you're completely off the charts I'm just going to leave it at that but with that being said big X the plug seems to be the MVP for up-and-coming hip-hop artist because when you look at it his album which I still hate the name which is why I haven't covered at all. But take care is still the 28th most played album in the world. So I did cover him once as far
Starting point is 00:05:29 as his single with Bailey Zimmerman all the way. But the reason why I'm bringing this up is because hip hop is in a very peculiar state. If you're not Aubrey, if you're not Kendrick, then you're out here fighting for attention in a way that's an uphill battle
Starting point is 00:05:47 and not a lot of superstars want to compete with. Kendrick currently has, let me see, Kendrick currently has three albums in the top 50 and Drake currently has two albums in the top 50. Now, the reason why I say that is because you would be hard pressed to find another hip hop musician on this list. That is why I preface this whole segment we're talking about if you sell a lot does not mean you make high quality.
Starting point is 00:06:17 If you don't sell at all, it does not mean you make absolute garbage. Sometimes the events and the, in the, in the, the poker chips fall where they made and sometimes you just got the short end of the stick but with big x the plug being one of the more notable up-and-coming rappers i wanted to highlight that because when little wayne eventually comes on the charts it would be interested i would be interested to see the longevity of the card of the six on the charts now that being said of course they are actually selling CDs and little wayne is on tour so if you want to go to his tour he is going on tour from june 6 all the way to october 2nd and he's going to be visiting a lot of
Starting point is 00:06:56 different dates um 34 to be exact started june 7th at madison square garden talking about talk about a hard opening night usually they warm up before the madison square garden performance but whatever so anyways is wayne's first solo headline show at msg but that already passed right his special guest included tiga no cap belly gang and cushington So that's pretty cool. I don't know who Bellig Gang of Cushington is, but you know, kudos to them. With that being said, the lead single for this album, The Days featuring Bono,
Starting point is 00:07:29 that's also being integrated into the finals. And of course, you probably already heard it as far as the Indiana Paces versus Oklahoma City Thunder. And a lot of the marketing budget as far as this album is put on full display after the album came out, which is very interesting because before, you would be hard-pressed to realize that Lil Wayne was putting out of album at all. But now that it's out, everybody can't stop talking about it. And that's the type of respect that we need on our legend's names. But then, you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop. Like, what's going on? So with that being said, I do believe, as far as my personal review, I have not gotten into that yet. So let me just be completely
Starting point is 00:08:09 honest with y'all. I got to, I think it was flex up or island holiday. And I had to act like this album didn't exist. Now at first glance at first you know you hearing this for the first time or you just hearing that you're probably thinking to yourself there's no way you're about to say what i think you're about to say and you're right i'm not little wayne's one of the most if not the most influential rapper of all time all i'm going to say is longevity has to matter at some point if you don't like his current music then go listen to his own music but as of right now i would say the the Carter 6 is probably not one of the better installments in the Carter series. You know, in all actuality, I may say it's the worst Carter ever.
Starting point is 00:08:59 So yeah, with that being said, it's not absolute trash. We're comparing it to the Carter series. But when it comes to the landscape of hip-hop, it's really not that bad. The rapping is on point. Some of the beat selection is beyond egregious. You know, as far as Nas and all the critiques that he had, as far as his beat selection, I think for the Carter Six, they should have put him as the executive producer so they could just throw the blame on him because it makes no sense in the world while some of these beats are on this album. So anyways, my favorite song, because I'm not going to harp on critiquing Little Wayne.
Starting point is 00:09:36 He's the most influential rapper of all time. You got to be respectful when it comes to covering a sport that somebody has dominated for quite some time. And maybe he just had a bad outing, right? But to be fair, it's not as bad as people making it out to be. So don't go into the album thinking it's absolute garbage. It's just when you call something to Carter, there's a certain expectation. It's like the NBA finals rolling out the Atlanta Hawks, right? It's like, hold on now, ain't this the NBA finals?
Starting point is 00:10:03 Like, we want to see the best teams. We want to see the best performance from each side. We don't want to see any mediocre people or quality level that you're putting on this grand stage. So as far as the Carter stage, I would say a lot of these tracks. were not um carter worthy let's just put it like that with that being said little wayne jelly roll big shan i think that was a highlight i did listen to the hip-hop track i can't imagine why it's the most why people are gravitating towards it because objectively speaking hip-hop with big x the plug and j jones is the most popular track and you can kind of guess why i mean big x like i just there's a
Starting point is 00:10:42 reason why i went into his numbers right he's one of the more uh increasing in analytics as far as up-and-coming pop artist to the point where him also having or him also being on a track that's the best performing on little wayne's carter six i mean that's a big kudos to him as far as showcasing his star power so quality wise i really like sharks and yes i'm a little biased because i love big shahn as far as the lyricist you know hold up pause you guys see that's the problem i like big shaw's lyrical ability there we go and then we and then as far as uh little way in the way that he puts double triple entendres together effortlessly i think some people forget this man is actually freestalling like he's not writing anything like out of performance he has a whole monitor so he can remember his lyrics
Starting point is 00:11:29 for him to be freestyle in this is very impressive very impressive if you've ever tried to rap it's never coming out like little way it's never like you know some people try to freestyle and they'd be like oh i could do a little way no no it's like it's like being oh i could dribble like karee no you can't he may make it look effortless because at the end of the day for a freestyle and he's actually he's not doing the oh let me read this off a phone let me remember and then spit it as the as the beat is continuing he's freestyle and all of this very impressive anyways the reason i say that is because you know when it comes to big shine i think he outwrapped little wayne on this specific track and he went ballistic to the point where that's my favorite track off of the album currently i may have other
Starting point is 00:12:12 favorites but um yeah you know um what i early what i said earlier let's just say there's not a lot of competition so uh sharks would probably end up being my favorite track off of the album but you never know you know maybe my 50 million time listening to the album maybe it'll change but um the reason why i said that is because getting into the rest of the album was a chore and that's never my experience for listening to a little wayne album so that was unfortunate at the end of day i didn't know i don't want to make this review too long because now i'm a dive into more of what i I didn't like. I just wanted to really give you a balance of what I didn't like, what I do like, unless you do of that what you will. But to be fair, Little Wayne did have on the objective scale a successful outing as the Carter 6 is aiming to sell 110,000 first week. I know I know people may compare it to previous Carter's. I don't think that's fair as far as analytically. Now, quality-wise, you can. But objectively speaking, little Wayne's not as big as he was when he put out the Carter two, three, and four, right? so now um it's going to dip a little bit but as far as in the modern landscape of hip hop for him to put be
Starting point is 00:13:22 putting up um these type of six figures in the first week sales is it's fantastic especially for a legacy act like little wayne so uh with that being said click my link sure in my bio let me know on one of my social medias what do you think about little waynes the carter six and what do you think is your well what is your favorite song on a car to six and also will you be going to be going one of these dates as far as little wayne's tour because he is touring once again from june 6th to october 2nd
