Starting point is 00:00:00 Now, first things first, we have to get into one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a mic. I mean, how would we ever know how to rap without using logic? Honestly, like, think about it. So anyways, Ice Cube is obviously one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a mic. you know what I mean and then um he made this track which is a certified classic i mean we're literally talking about it in 2023 you you would have to look up when that track came out because it was way back in the day but um yeah ice cube's old but logic has did a cover for ice cubes it was a good day and let me just tell you this i think whenever somebody who covers a musician's work
Starting point is 00:01:01 I think they have to know if they're fan base intertwines or not. Like, anybody could have did this cover, but Logic. Now, if Logic would have did a cover to Eminem, if Logic would have did a cover to The Beatles, I mean, he may have got away with Michael Jackson if he did a cover to that. But what I'm trying to say is, I think Logic's fan base and Ice Cube's fan base is a little, a little different. That's all I'm going to say. Obviously, I'm not giving my critiques over the cover
Starting point is 00:01:38 because that's what it is. It's just a cover. And did he perform vocally over the cover? I would say yes. Like, the way he performed was solid. Like, I don't even think logic's a bad rapper, obviously. Um, I think it takes one to self-reflect and, come out and say the things that Logic has said. Some of the things that Logic has said recently, it takes a lot of self-reflection because he points out a lot of the
Starting point is 00:02:16 things that he shouldn't have cared about but he did, which a lot of artists don't do. They act like it doesn't bother him and then they end up on the news for something because, you know, they just had an outburst or they just couldn't hold it in no more. But for Logic, I feel like I'm not going to say he's like a true to himself because you don't know these people like
Starting point is 00:02:36 know you don't know any of these celebrities but I do want to say that the way that he puts out music I enjoy it I enjoy the way that logic makes music and I don't think that you know is a tough thing to say I mean he's a talented rapper and um just cover from Ice Cube I just I just felt like it left the door open for a lot of his haters to have pretty serviceable hate to send his way. Like, it opens the door for so much objectified hate because it's like, you don't want to say that logic is good. So now that he's covering the actual rapper who you consider and is,
Starting point is 00:03:29 you know, don't want to get that to us. It's one of the greatest rappers ever. Now that he, now that logic's covering a classic from him, you're opening the door for your haters to come through and be like, look at this man, he can't even cover a classic right. He can't even, you know, basically hating on logic. That's why I would call it, just straight hate. And obviously I know probably one of the more prominent haters in the game
Starting point is 00:03:54 when it comes to logic. And I don't even have to say his name. Y'all know who I'm talking about. That man who says logic needs to just come sit by him and retire, like that's what I'm talking about, just straight hate. Because I feel like Logic is a very talented rapper and it has a lot of good intentions when it comes to making music But I don't think his fan base intertwined with ice cubes enough to to put out this cover and obviously somebody's gonna be like well what do you mean by that? Because hip-hop artists sample pop artists all the time and how do you know if they're like one of the examples I just used with Juice World and Sting and Juice World sampling
Starting point is 00:04:30 I forget what that track was called, but sampling a popular song from Sting. How do you know those two fan bases and a twine? And I feel like it's easier to tell when you look at it from a stylistic standpoint, like Juice World is kind of not in that rock genre, but he has rock-infused elements of his beats that a lot of other artists don't have. So to have a Sting sample,
Starting point is 00:04:59 makes more sense for him. So if Juice Whirl, let's say, came out and did a cover of, I don't know, Juice War was a terrible example because he's so multifaceted. But as far as Logic, it's like if Logic did a cover of a little Uzi Verde song, you know, just stylistically they're very different. Logic and Ice Cube, I guess you can say is similar strictly for the fact that they really pay attention to the words they put in a, track but besides that there are experiences of it was a good day and the experiences of logic you never
Starting point is 00:05:38 know what logic goes through as a person and throughout life but i can say was was not the same i can say for a fact was not the same as it was a good day you know why because everybody has the own struggles they go through in life and so they're all different they may be they may be similar but they're all different in some type of way or some form or fashion. So it was a good day. It's probably the worst track you can cover. And that's basically what I'm getting at. He should have picked a track that did not compare life experiences to being treated as a black man when he looks white.
Starting point is 00:06:21 And that's a whole other conversation. So I'm not going to get into that. But logic does say on a lot of his tracks. I'm half black, half white, but he looks white. So, so, a lot of people aren't really, um, except, um, they don't really accept some of the, the words that, that logic used, you know, notoriously, the N word, you know, it's, I mean, I mean, obviously I can say it, but, you know, it's a PG podcast. I don't like to cuss.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Um, logic, you know, says it on a daily basis because, you know, he's half black, half white. So, you know, when somebody looks white and he's saying the N word, you know, it may offend some people you know so i understand why people are split with this uh cover of ice cube it was a good day because i definitely wasn't logic's experience in life at all um but um you know i as far as being the musician you know he's technically experimenting he's trying out some different things um just singing ice cubes it was a good day is not a good choice especially for artists like logic so anyways uh click my lecture in my bio let me know what my social media is what do you think about our logic's cover of ice cube did you enjoy it or did you
Starting point is 00:07:32 hate it
