Starting point is 00:00:03 Ladies and gentlemen, I do not know the amount of dollars I would need to hold a whole tarantula while promoting a track title spiders. But that's what Lola Young is specifically doing with her rollout for her upcoming album. I'm only messing with myself. Because of course, it's a PG podcast. So as far as what she actually put in the title, let's just say you'll be able to figure that out when the album comes out September 19th on audio. Now, as far as the tracks, it's very interesting because she's definitely been putting out a lot of different singles. Seems like nothing's been sticking, but of course, it's always good to keep coming back to the masses to see what they particularly like. Because if you don't know, she's under Day One Music Limited, a subsidiary of Universal Music Operations, but more specifically, as far as her track, her most successful track, seems like Messi is still her most successful track as a previous.
Starting point is 00:01:03 peaked on the at number 14 on the billboard hot 100 and of course and totality it was the most downloaded track of this particular year in the UK specifically and if you was wondering what led to it the TikTok Sophia Richie Grange dance helped out a lot and of course Kylie Jenner also helped out as far as the specific movement for Messi as far as after that episode particular track seems like nothing's really been sticking like messy but at the end of day you know you never know what could blow up off of the album itself when it comes out September 19 and as of right now you can't really count out somebody who's under a major label because when you've lessened the probability of flopping i think that always helps out and of course i've listened to lowly young's
Starting point is 00:01:56 music and it's pretty solid as far as singing i'll always say that's definitely one of the more underrated talents, especially when a lot of different artists out here are trying to sing and can't. So when you're listening to artists who can actually sing, but also add a nice pop structure as far as the melodies, the bridge, the chorus, I really enjoy the entire track. And of course, when it comes to her having a lot of interesting sounds, she also featured with another hip-hop musician. Who's that hip-hop musician you might ask? the one and only Tyler the Creator.
Starting point is 00:02:33 But then, you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop. Like, what's going on? As Lola Young had Tyler the Creator, or she featured with Tyler the Creator on the track like him. Now, as far as that particular track, let me see if I can find that. I think that was off of Tyler the Creator's latest album, but I don't want to just misspeak. It's off of Chromacopia.
Starting point is 00:02:55 When did that come out? That didn't come out. So that came out last year, right? Yeah, October 28, 20, 24. But, okay. So that was for that was just basically career highlights. So she did have a track with Tyler, the creator, as far as being tapped in into the hip hop ecosystem. But of course, when it comes to her voice and ultimately being able to sing better than the majority of artists you probably listen to, that's one of the main things that's going to keep her around.
Starting point is 00:03:19 And I think the whole perception and the public criticism is very interesting. because the label that she has on her as far as Lola Young is very interesting from an outsider perspective because if people are saying that your aunt, you're ungrateful, you're a Nepo baby because your great aunt was the Gruffalo author, which more specifically Julia Donald. So if that's your great aunt, if people are calling you a Nepo baby, it's very interesting because of course whenever you are talented because it's hot it's hot it's very hard to hide talent as far as singing because if you can't sing it's very obvious if you can only hit certain notes people are going to be able to tell with the trained ear but for most people i don't think it comes across as she's only
Starting point is 00:04:14 successful because her great aunt julia donaldson wrote the gruffalo right i think that's kind of insane but that's just me a lot of people did quote as far as you know as far as her being ungrateful or whatever her running off the Coachella 2025 stage but she basically had to you know get something out of her system but she returned to the set so it's not like she just ran off for no reason some other people said that she cried mid-song during the glatzenbury and very interesting because i mean that's just emotion so a lot of things could be twofold a lot of people could be looking at the same thing and taking two different perceptions away from it right and so the messy title is very interesting how that track blew up for her and ultimately a lot of people calling her
Starting point is 00:05:04 very ungrateful and just too much which is very messy in itself as far as the media coverage of her so when it comes to her north america tour just know it's running from november 1st to to December 6th, 17 stops. So if you was going to catch Lola Young, just know she will be touring from November to December 6 of this year. And the kickoff would be in Histori, Toronto, and the finale would be in Hollywood, Palladine in Los Angeles. So make sure to go to Ticketmaster and type in Lola Young if you wanted to catch her while
Starting point is 00:05:35 she's touring from November to December 6th. So another thing, the last thing I was going to talk about is of course, once again, her album. I'm only messing with myself because it's a peachy podcast. That's coming out September 19 of this year. But as right now, to give you another indication what the album's going to be like, she just released her, I think it's like her fourth single for her album. And the title is Spiders. So that being said, click my link to you in my bio.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Let me know one of my social media is. What do you think about Loli Young's track Spiders? And at the end of the day, do you think that the public coverage from the media on Lola Young is misguided and messy? or do you think it's justified?
