You know, I find it very confusing.
When searching Machine Gun Kelly and on DSPs, he's going as MGK.
Now, maybe I'm ignorant, but I felt like this man was going as Machine Gun Kelly for the longest.
But hey, maybe it's that placebo effect where, or not, it's not placebo.
It's something.
I forget the effect.
But I get, when you recognize something as one thing later down the line and it was totally different, maybe that's what it is.
because currently MGK has a track titled Your Name Forever that came out March 18.
Now, why am I covering this?
Because I think Machine Gun Kelly is a phenomenal rapper.
I know that may be a hot take.
But the way he puts words together, especially if you haven't heard his latest album,
that came out in 2024 titled Hotel Diablo, Floor 13 Edition, his track L Diablo is straight fire.
Not going to lie to you.
So the way that Machine Gun Kelly puts bars together, puts his songs together, and his awareness of song structure is at a high level, in my opinion.
Now, you should have seen the look on my face and the amount of, well, the level of flabber, well, I guess flabbergastion isn't worried.
So let's just put it like this.
I was beyond flabbergasted that this man had transitioned to pop punk.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, he is not rapping.
But then, you know what I'm saying?
I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop.
Like, what's going on?
So, of course, you know, when it comes to Machine Gun Kelly, like I said, I've been a fan for quite some time.
I do know he transitions from certain genres, right?
He goes from rap.
He goes to rock.
He goes to punk.
You know, he has an evolving sound, right?
So when he put out this track, I was thinking it's going to be a rap track.
He said, Your Name Forever.
I was like, oh, I know he's getting his bars off.
And it's a, it's some birds pointing towards the sky.
Like, you already know, it's about to be some type of introspective take on bird.
and skies and things of that nature in his life right no it's just a it's just a pop track or it's not pop
it's just a pop punk track right so i'm not mad at it because he followed this up by um but no that's not
it but um initially when the song release right i was a very taken aback right because i thought
was gonna be rap but now you know of course putting on my m gk fan hat i'm like okay he's done this
before you know he's just transitioning to another genre and apparently with this particular track it was
co-written by Travis Barker ain't that ain't that crazy like what would bad baby have to say about
that anyways uh the themes center around love and legacy of course with emotional vulnerability
you know you have to have vulnerability emotionally when it comes to
attracting women i mean just being a great humor right so anyways um the reception right
people are enjoying it because i think when it comes to m gk's his uh his fan base is very unique
diverse as far as the palette.
So they would tolerate these just like complete
180s when it comes from genre to genre.
I mean, it's not easy to pull off rap, rock, and punk.
I think him and his ethnicity,
let's just put it like that, plays a lot into it,
but the talent level is undeniable.
And I consistently say that I think he has a great awareness of song structures.
So combine all that.
And I think people are more forgiving.
that he makes these abrupt turns to rap, to rock, and to punk.
So when it comes to the charts, he's nowhere to be found.
He doesn't have any tracks charting in the top 100 when it comes to singles.
He doesn't have any albums charting in the top 50.
Do I believe this track would have some type of rise to fame?
I don't think so.
But when it comes to rock and hot rock charts,
I think you can have some type of rise on those specifically
because those are more subdivisions of the overall charts on planet Earth, right?
So the Hot Rock charts, I could see it going to like 20 to 15 range, right?
So overall, I don't think it's going to be that much replay value in the track when it comes to the masses.
But for his specific segment of this fan base that enjoys the rock aesthetic, especially having Travis Barker being a co-writer for this track, I think just goes through.
the authenticity
it goes through the right
the official verification
to have that authentic feel
when it comes to the rock genre
right and especially the punk rock lane
I mean he already has to look right
so you know getting a legend
like Travis Barker to co-write your track
I mean automatically is going to help it out
so with that being said click my link to my bio
and obviously you know he does have
what's her name is it Megan Fox
Fox? Let me hold up
Megan
Fox. Yeah, it's going on hours right now. I ain't going to let to you. Yeah, Megan Fox. He does have Megan Fox. So, you know, we got to talk about that as a stat in every single, every single time we cover Machine Gun Kelly. So anyways, with that means, I said, click my link to your bio. Let me know one of my social medias. What do you think about his latest track, Your Name Forever? And if you are an MGK fan, what genre do you prefer the most from MGK? Is a rap, rock, or punk?
