So this is going to be a crash course on Maluma.
Hopefully I don't butcher any of these pronunciations,
but his real name is Juan Luis Londano.
Probably messed it up already.
Anyways, born in Columbia, of course, started singing.
I had a breakout debut album in 2012.
And 2015, he had another breakout album called Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy.
which, you know, I guess he's letting him know straight from the jump.
Also, collaborate with a lot of artists like Shakira Madonna and The Weekend.
He has a track with The Weekend?
Say it ain't so.
Hold on, I got to look that up.
Because y'all know The Weekend, one of my favorites.
Wow, they do.
The Weekend hopped on his hottest track.
That's fake.
Though, I mean, The Week is one of my favorite artists, and that's still fake.
I can call it out when I see it.
He probably, because if you look at when I went to,
Maluma's
site
his most popular
track, I think of all time
it's called
Hawaii.
So for the weekend
to drop on the Hawaii
remix, like,
come on now.
I mean,
I guess,
you know,
you're still giving
them some type of look,
but you see
he's doing numbers
by himself
and wanted to jump
on a remix,
but that's besides the point.
He's also a global
superstar, of course,
being from Columbia
and things of that
nature coming over
to America, you know,
and I'm not no,
as far as
I'm not the greatest, but I'm pretty sure that that makes him qualify as overseas artists,
if I do say so myself.
And as far as in the Latin music space, he's definitely a prominent figure as he has his own
clothing line, perfume brand.
And if you want to know all that, you just got to go to the site that I have up right now.
Shameless Plug, Analytic Dreams video to see the video element of the podcast, specifically
on Spotify, specifically on Spotify.
the video element but anyways um more specifically what we're talking about is not only is he a huge
figure in a latin space but he doesn't mind giving credit when credits do as he's releasing a new
track specifically dedicated and in a tribute to leonald messy which if y'all know is like
widely considered the goat of soccer so with this track
There's also a collaboration with Yandel, Yandel, I think that's how you said.
And it pays homage to Messi, of course, who, like I said, is considered one of the greatest,
if not the greatest soccer player of all time.
I know Rinaldo's in the mix, and I think that's the biggest debate between those two.
I think they're like the two goats of soccer, and people go back and forth on who's the greatest.
but when you're a huge Latin artist like Maluma you know you could pull some strings like having the actual goat show up in your music video now is one thing you see time and time again as artists get into the space you make tracks of or about people that you admire right I mean we've seen it in a example well an example I can give is when Jack Harlow put out doolipa of
course and we all know why he put out that track you know he made it pretty clear that he was trying
to do more than a feature and uh with maluma is more of a tribute style of uh honory honor track
type track but the kicker well no pun intended my fault i ain't i ain't i even do it on purpose
is that leonar messy showed up in the music video so if you watch the actual music video for
the track trophyo which is spelled t r o
F-E-O if you look up the music video for that the goat or the alleged goat I'm not like I'm not a soccer fan so I'm just saying like I'm not trying to you know offend no bite but the the wild the could the widely considered goat of soccer
Leonor Messi shows up in action music video and what else
Messi ends up handing him a trophy sharing a hug with him in the music video there's behind the scenes photos on Instagram as I'm showing right now I mean these are part of
photos are talking about.
I mean, that's not messy, but that is messy.
That's him handing him.
That's the trophy that messy handed him.
By the way,
Analytic Dreams video on Spotify,
if you want to see the video elements.
And then I don't know who that is.
Oh, that's probably Yandel to do he did the song with.
And then, of course, he shows the actual video.
I don't want to show that too much.
I don't know if it's like copyrighted or whatever.
But as you can see,
making a song about the greatest player in the sport
and have him actually show up in your music video.
It's just a test.
to the type of star power you have yourself because I best believe Messi's not just showing up
to any and every music video that mentions him in a song or else he would have to show up every
every day to some video shoot so anyways Maluma is also known for his uh soccer uh fascination
or infatuation whatever the word is as he performed the official song
for the FIFA World Cup.
What else?
Of course,
Messy's in Miami right now,
you know,
playing in,
I don't know what the league is called,
but I've heard,
now correct me if I'm wrong,
but I've heard that the league that Messi is in
when it comes to soccer
is like the equivalent to when somebody goes
from the NBA overseas.
Like that's what I heard.
It's like him coming to America is like
if an NBA player went to overseas,
like China to hoop.
As far because they're trying to say that the competitive level isn't as high as where Messi was.
I don't know.
I can't speak too much of that.
That's just what I heard.
So, yeah.
But anyways, the biggest thing is that Maluma, this is my first time covering him.
That's why I'm glad I was able to give that kind of overview.
As far as the label he's under, I really don't know what.
He's under Ultra Records.
Oh, he's under Sony.
Okay.
So he's under Sony.
That's interesting.
Obviously, he does numbers because I looked at his,
his top songs and they're pretty high up there.
Let's see what else.
I don't know if he released the music video first.
Oh, no, it just doesn't show up on his profile.
Yeah, he needs somebody to fix that for him.
Yeah, he's not just Sony music entertainment.
Interesting.
So it's probably like a distribution deal.
Because if you don't know, for some of these overseas artists,
they'll find in like overseas, of course,
like in their own home town.
But when it comes to America, they still have to
penetrate the American demographic.
So that's where a Sony comes in.
And as I've seen, looking at his top tracks,
like, he's definitely up there when it comes to
the most popular musicians in the world.
I mean, 76 in the world when it comes to Spotify listeners.
So that should tell you something.
Has the goat showing up in his own music video?
And like I said, he started singing early,
put out his first album in 2012, and now look at him,
side by side with who he also considers the greatest in soccer
in his own music video for his single trophyo
or that's how you say it, I don't know.
So anyways, click my link to you my bio.
Let me know on one of my social medias.
What do you think about Maluma's new track
in the Latin space title trophyo?
And hopefully I didn't butcher too many names.
And with that being said,
will you be giving this track a list?
And also, will you watch the video knowing
that the goat himself, Leonel Messi, showed up in it.
