Real name Charly Wingate, the legendary Silver Surfer walked out of Northern State Prison in Newark, New Jersey on November 9, 2025 after serving 16 years of a reduced 20-year sentence (originally 75 years). Convicted in 2009 for orchestrating a 2006 armed robbery that turned into felony murder, Max B had his conviction vacated in 2016 due to attorney conflict, leading to an aggravated manslaughter plea. The release moment went viral: French Montana greeted him with a long embrace and placed a massive diamond chain on his neck, posting “MY BROTHER REALLY CAME HOME ON MY B DAY.” Max B wasted no time—proposed to his longtime partner with a stunning ring the next day, hit MetLife Stadium for the Jets game, and was in the studio with French Montana within 48 hours working on Coke Wave 3.While locked up, Max B never stopped dropping music: phone verses fueled the entire Coke Wave movement, Vigilante Season tapes, Negro Spirituals (2021), features on Kanye’s The Life of Pablo, Wiz Khalifa’s Kush + Orange Juice 2, and his latest pre-release single “Elevators” (Oct 2025). Now free at 47, Max B declares he’s going “all in” with new albums, only A-list collaborations, and the floodgates officially open.Analytic Dreamz breaks down the full robbery case, legal twists, prison discography, and what’s next for one of hip-hop’s most influential voices. Starting point is 00:00:03 First off, we have to start with the bomb. As the one and only Max B has finally been released from a lengthy prison sentence, because at first, ladies and gentlemen, he was looking at 75 years. You guys. See, that's the problem. And of course, after 16 years in prison, he is now finally free. Now, you're probably wondering to yourself, how, the world did that happen? Well, let me take you down memory lane as way back in 2009 when I was just a wee little lad. Max B was convicted. Hold on now for a felony murder. Not only that, but armed robbery and kidnapping. For orchestrating a 2006 New Jersey hotel robbery that turned
Starting point is 00:01:06 deadly but guess what maxby wasn't present i know that ain't who i think it is so you're probably wondering to yourself how in the world did he get convicted if he wasn't a present well that ladies and gentlemen is a phenomenal question because of course when it comes to that safe to say there's this thing called guilty by association all right i don't know the actual lawyer term i think i've actually find it okay i found it so he was convicted because of him being involved and when it comes to that I think specifically what they said was um he had a i don't know if it's conflict no he pled guilty to aggravated manslaughter reducing the sentence of 20 years but at first he was facing 70 plus years like i was saying earlier um but now of course with time served
Starting point is 00:02:05 reducing his sentence even more as far as from the 20 years it further cut his 20 years he was released November 9th of this year so specifically what I wanted to talk about was definitely how Max B has been enjoying his freedom but definitely want to let y'all know when it comes to an armed robbery kidnapping aggravated soul felony murder slash manslaughter safe to say even if you're not the one doing the killing, which in Max B's case he wasn't, you can be still convicted if you have any type of orchestral responsibilities in the illegal activity. Hopefully that makes sense. Because once again, they say guilty about association and safe to say Max B found out the truest definition of that when he went to jail because of what some other people did, such as Gina Conway
Starting point is 00:02:58 and Kelvin Lear Dam. I think that's how you said. So the victim who David Taylor, he was killed as far as the armed robbery, hotel robbery, and RIP to David Taylor, I do want to say that because it's not just an insensitive podcast. You do have to stay with the facts.
Starting point is 00:03:18 He was in prison for a reason. But with that being said, now that he's been released, safe to say that he was greeted by a family, fans and long-time collaborators such as the one and only French Montana. Now, if you don't know, French Montana and Max B goes way back. I mean, to the point where it's even hard to quantify how far they go back because if you don't know,
Starting point is 00:03:44 the reason why we hold, well, hip-hop, because I was just a, I was just a wee little Latin when Max B was going crazy. But as far as what holds Max B in such high regard in hip-hop, he has such a wave-hop, he has such a way, quote unquote style that influenced a lot of influential rappers in themselves so he influenced the influencers as far as french montana with califa asa mab and a lot of modern rap as far as the way he pioneered the melodic wave yourself right so safe to say the coke wave series was one of the pivotal points in his career and he had a lot of shoutouts from the one and only conier west to the point where, if you don't know, if you look at the life of Pablo, Silver Surfer is on that
Starting point is 00:04:33 album, literally paying tribute to Max B. Drake also paid a Max B his tribute, and of course, the one and only Tory Lane's, he just recently, ironic, right? He just recently with his behind bars album as far as, what was it called Peterson. Anyways, he has this track called the M-A-W-A interlude, which has the one and only Max B on it. So now that you know, that how hip hop holds him in such a high regard and yes the album was a peterson that tory lanes had him feature on so now that you know why hip hop holds him in such a high regard you would probably realize why in the world he's living life better in 24 hours the most humans are in the full year and shout out to uh shout out to where is it at let me see if i find it shout out to your old dog
Starting point is 00:05:23 your old droog for uh for saying that because he basically said uh max b did more than 48 hours than me the whole year. My point, exactly. So off the bat, you're probably wondering, what in the world is he talking about? Well, I'm glad you asked. Analytic Dreams video on Spotify to see the video along with the audio. As you can see right here,
Starting point is 00:05:41 Max B pictured with the Jets owner. No, not a Jets player, not the Jets staff, the owner of the Jets. They just out here chilling. Crazy, ain't it? Anyways. And then, of course, Max B also has future music plans, but we're going to get to that in a second.
Starting point is 00:05:58 I wanted to get to his studio presence because of course this studio looks immaculate. Now, it may not look anything fantastic to y'all, but when you look at this in the grand scheme of things, this is a full-fledged studio that Max B hopped in expeditiously as soon as he got out of prison. So I just know the work ethic is going to be through the roof. And then of course, I didn't know something else. Oh yeah, then we have, here we go. we have max b and a sap yams uh mother um max b a sap yams mother at his grave site today for yams birthday so r n p to asap yams as you can see right here max b and his mom paying him a visit so max b's been
Starting point is 00:06:43 very busy and those are just some of the activities i mean he was pictured with central c in uh french Montana on my YouTube shorts with shout out to y'all for engaging with that and supporting that specific clip but it shows Maxby coming out and French embracing him right so anyways when it comes to that the main thing I want to let y'all know because I don't want this to run on too long I do want to let y'all know that the end of the day Maxby does have future plans and of course the first thing that he was wanting to do is have a live show so the live live show is happening January 18th 2026 and of course it's his homecoming slash welcome back show the venue
Starting point is 00:07:25 is Brooklyn Paramount and it's a historic live nation venue that reopened in 2024 after renovations and the capacity is 2,600 so now when you look at this live show when you look at maxby's camp posting this flyer safe to say they're very ecstatic as far as it's happening and then of course when it comes to the overall music from maxby safe to say that that he is heavily teasing music and he's going to put out new music at some point. Because of course, if you look at DSPs right now, you could, you could already see that he's been putting out music from behind bars. But currently, he's now putting out music as he's in the free world because, actually,
Starting point is 00:08:09 he doesn't have a, he doesn't have a track out since he's been free. But as far as elevators, that's the last track that he put out that came out October 2nd of this year. So he's been putting out music for. some time it's just now that he's free it'll probably be easier to market the music because now a lot of people are going to want to collab with you because you're out and a lot of people are going to be one to want to be seen with you because of the clout you know Olympics so i'm not going to get deep into his case because of course i try to cover music which is why i plug the live show and the actual
Starting point is 00:08:40 music that's coming from max b but also wanted to cover why he has so much major industry support after a 20 to 16, well, a 20 year reduced to 16 year sentence when he was facing 75 years. So what that means said, click my link to you in my bio. Let me know in one of my social medias. What do you think about Max Bee being released from prison? And if you could choose one artist for Max B to lock in with, you know, aside from French Montana, which artist would you choose and why?
