Starting point is 00:00:03 Time to get into the human that put out the best-selling album ever. And hold up, had 13 number one singles the most by male artists. And they come to realize MTV Pioneer the first black artist ever in heavy rotation with the track Billy Jean. And he won the MTV Vanguard Award back in 1984, but more importantly, the global empire. pack of the one and only Michael Jackson, he had 400 million plus records sold, inducted into the Rock Enroll Hall of Fame twice, two times. And then of course, when it comes to the business side of Michael Jackson, a lot of people focus on the music. Not a lot of people talk about how, not only that Michael Jackson buy the entire catalog of Sony slash ATV for $47.5 million, including
Starting point is 00:01:03 4,000 Beatles songs, but also when you look at merging with Sony as far as ATV back in 1995 and having a $1 billion value about 2016, safe to say that Michael Jackson had one of the best business minds and musical minds in the game. So that being said, putting a misrespect on one of, if not the most important artists in the music industry. getting it to Michael Jackson we have to look at this picture right quick analytic dreams video on Spotify to see the video along with the audio ladies and gentlemen that is the one and only
Starting point is 00:01:44 Beyonce next to the one and only Michael Jackson and you probably wonder what was she doing in this picture with Michael Jackson well I'm glad you asked on this date just to take you down memory lane 2003 Beyonce presented
Starting point is 00:01:58 the one and only Michael Jackson with a human humanitarian award You know how to pause for a second. At the Radio City Music Awards in Las Vegas. So it's safe to say this is what she was given Michael Jackson. As you can see in the second picture, hold up now. Nobody shows Sean Carter this.
Starting point is 00:02:19 You guys. See, that's the problem. Now, all jokes aside. You know, she's just probably just showing her appreciation for the one and only Michael Jackson. Anyways, that's the main thing I was wanting to get at because, of course, Michael Jackson is regarded as one of the greatest artists of all time. and deservedly so. So whenever this segment is specifically talking about Thriller,
Starting point is 00:02:40 I think it will be doing it in an injustice to not bring up why we hold Michael Jackson in such high regard from the musical and business aspect. So anyways, Thriller, you're probably wondering, it's 2025. Ladies and gentlemen, Thriller came out November 30th, 1982. I know that ain't who I think it is. And it's still on the charts in the big year of 2025, drop a bomb for that. one. So of course, looking at Michael Jackson, as far as the track thriller, it is currently the 49th most played track in the world, but wait, it's also as far as future chart predictions
Starting point is 00:03:19 set for November 8th, set to climb all the way to the 28th most popular track in the world. Now, a track that came out in 1982 in the big year of 2025, still making a notorious mass effect, is very interesting from the standpoint that how in the world does this happen well i'm glad you ask if you don't know this is little holly there's this little holiday called Halloween and of course with thriller is attached to Halloween in a way that no other track is right some will compare it to maria carrie's um christmas anthems in the way that they compare it to uh compare it to how michael jackson's thriller is connected to Halloween those are some of the most i'm iconic holiday theme tracks we've had.
Starting point is 00:04:10 And of course it just happened organically. It wasn't like Michael Jackson came out. I was like, hey, make this the Halloween anthem. It just became that because the track was that good, right? So when it comes to the annual October surge for the specific track thriller, it reenters the chart every single year because of course around Halloween time, a lot of people start throwing on that thriller to set the vibes. But then, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:04:37 I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop. Like, what's going on? So now when you look at the state of R&B, safe to say it is currently the sixth most played track on R&B digital song sales. And then, of course, when you look at the overall, already talked about that as far as as it charting, no, trending to chart as the 28th most played track in the world. And now you look at the 63% week over week surge in mid-October is one of those. tracks where people obviously know what time of the year it is when Thriller starts to
Starting point is 00:05:12 get on the charts. I know that ain't who I think it is. So looking at Thriller specifically, I'm not going to say it's one of my favorite Michael Jackson songs. Obviously it's not bad, but you know obviously my favorite artist is Drake. I love a lot of Michael Jackson tracks and when it comes to his album and his particular singles, not going to lie to you. Man in the Mirror and Billy Jean, I think maybe two of the great of the greatest songs of all time. So anyways, the reason I say that is because Thurler specifically,
Starting point is 00:05:42 making all this, making such a notorious mass effect outside of Billie Jean, outside of Man in the Mirror, safe to say that he has iconic tracks for days. And then you have the pop culture tie-in with the Young and the Restless as far as the tribute aired on CBS on October 27th, as the young and the restless recreated the thriller dance in the viral Halloween segment. You know, that also helped out with the sales.
Starting point is 00:06:10 But of course, the producers over at that TV show, they probably saw the numbers just like me and said, hold up now. This is the unequivocal anthem for Halloween. We have to have it in our show. You guys. So anyways, that's essentially what happened as far as the young and the wrestlers. And there's a lot of other pop culture events that ties in Thriller with the Hall. the holiday of Halloween. But the main thing I wanted to get across was the Halloween nostalgia. Obviously, happy Halloween to people who celebrate it out there. And of course, if you're not
Starting point is 00:06:45 playing thriller in your Halloween party, then they may not be doing it right. You guys. See, that's the problem. So another segment of covering one of the greatest artists, if not the greatest art of all time, is in the books. So that being said, click my link to you in my bio. Let me know one of my social media is. What do you think about Michael Jackson's iconic stature in a game of music? And do you believe Thriller is one of the best tracks of all time? And if not, what is your favorite Michael Jackson track of all time?
