I want to preface this with listen to Glorilla versus Sexy Red on my podcast, Notorious Mass Effect,
because then you will understand where I'm coming from with this take.
So, if you don't know, Moneybag Yo is back again with a new single titled Big Dog featuring Sexy Red.
of course the Memphis rapper and the St. Louis rapper are going back and forth over the track.
But what's interesting is Big Dog is set to be a part of CMG the label's upcoming compilation album Gangsta Art 2 releasing September 29th.
Now why am I bringing that up?
simply because
if this was a money bag yo album
then I will let it slide
because of course you will want some up and coming artists
along with some already notable artists
to promote your next album
but
this is not for his next album
this is for CMG the label's
upcoming compilation album
gangster art too which I said once
which I will say again
it's coming out
September 29th. Now, let me get to the point that I want to make. For those who don't know what
CMG is, it's an acronym for Collective Music Group and Yo Gotti's record company. So Yo Gotti owns CMG.
With that being said, let's list off the artists under Collective Music Group. We have Black Youngster,
money bag yo
snooty wild
zed zill
wave chaplain
42 doug
i believe they have mazzi as well
and finally
and more importantly for this segment
glow
rilla
now why is that impactful
let me just get straight to it
it's been an interesting
marketing tactic i've been seeing
implemented as
the perception on glorilla is that she's seemingly falling off now you have an artist who in more ways than one reminds you of the likes of a glorilla right sexy red currently has a plethora of tracks going up on the charts which is ski ye pound town two looking for and i can't say that next part because of course p g podcast
and then her horrendous verse on peaches and eggplants now i don't want to say that sexy red
is just overall a terrible artist i just want to point out the fact she's been putting up all
of these numbers right 7.2 monthly listeners as an independent act her latest track that came out
september uh september 22 well no that was the big dog track her track before that which came out
September 5th September 15th so she's been active called Hellcat's Srtys 2 with Little
Dirk of course fit fits the brand for sexy red right if you go to the bottom of that and look at
the credits it says open shift distribution slash gamma now what does that mean right open shift
distribution is basically for independent artists wanting to get their music out on multiple platforms so
that inherently means sexy red is independent.
Money Bag yo is a part of collective music group owned by YoGadi.
This track is for the upcoming CMG album, which is Collective Music Group.
Gangster Art 2 releasing September 29th.
It was already bad enough that I felt like
the industry was going against Glorilla and the fact in the sense of them seemingly portraying
her as as falling off right you hear today gone tomorrow which is why when the likes of a
drake kendrick and j cole have such a longevity has such longevity with their music is to be
applauded so rap careers are like running back careers in the NFL and now is seemingly
showcasing the fact that Glorilla may be at the tail end of her popularity.
And here comes Sexie Red, who reminds you, in more ways to one, let me reiterate
that, of a Glorilla-type aura, and she has a track that's going to be a part of the same label
that Glorilla's on as an independent act. This is a second installment.
of CMG labels album, right?
But this is the first single for the project.
The first single for a collective music group compilation album features an artist that's
directly competing with the artist on your label.
I don't find that to be a coincidence.
I believe that if Yo Gotti is not trying to sign her, then this is the worst way in the
world to hide that fact because having sexy red as an independent artist on the first single for your
label's compilation album when you have the likes of a glorilla who is a top artist on that out on that
label i mean of course you have money bag you have a lot of other people i don't think there's too
many bigger than a glorilla i mean 42 dug i believe he's locked up anyways money bag yo is probably the
one that's the figurehead of collective music group right but glorilla is one of the more notable
artists at this point off of that label and to have her direct competitor and sexy red on the first
single for your label's album i find that a little interesting and a direct slap in the face to glorilla
And at the end of day, you could say I'm reaching, but if this was just a money bag yo album rollout, I would not bring this up in the slightest because there's no, it's like, there's no problem with featuring other artists who are more prominent and for the marketing of your album.
But for a collective music group album, to have a direct competitor to one of the figureheads of your label is very interesting.
and I would be very interested to see how Glorilla reacts to this single.
Because if you don't know, Glorilla hasn't been active, well, as active lately.
Because I believe Liquor Some is probably the most successful track so far from this year.
And when she put out her album, Anyways, Life's Great.
On the same day, the Nas put out Magic 2, everybody was acting like it was a
a flop and then to the point where her label changed the album if you go to dsps literally anyways
life is great used to be called an album but now if you go to it it's called an ep which is a
marketing tactic to make you think that the numbers are not as bad as it seems because it's just an
ep so of course she's not going to sell as much but if you go to the runtime it's 38 minutes
which is well above the maximum limit for an epi p
So it's technically an album.
Her label went back in and changed it to be an EP.
I think it's some damage control.
And what's not damaged control is her label basically seemingly moving off of her to use sexy red as a marketing rollout for their group label album instead of her who's actually signed to CMG.
So anyways, hopefully I broke that down in a simple way for y'all to understand.
So click on my link to tree in my bio.
Let me know one of my social media is do you think I'm reaching with this take of sexy red versus glorilla and also more importantly what do you think of the track Big Dog that's out now by Moneybag yo and sexy red?
