Starting point is 00:00:00 Before we get into the Queen of Hip Hop's track with Future Hendrix, which is the edition on Pink Friday 2's Gag City, Pluto edition, the track titled Press Play. First, when discussing the queen, Oniqa Tanya Mirage, of course, we got to talk about the numbers. So currently, as far as the most successful track off of the album, I think it's still super freaky girl, as far as the overall, like, total standpoint,
Starting point is 00:00:29 as far as this statistics but currently f tc u and because this is a pg podcast i'm just going to let you figure out what that means is basically the most successful track off of that album like as far as releasing right when everything else released not being the single this is the most successful track on the album of course you see the streams you see the revenue and i think that's very interesting because obviously, you know, numbers and certain monetary value from those numbers are very subjective and speculative because you don't know anybody's actual splits. But obviously, this is a good gauge as this is what I usually use for getting my numbers. So that's besides a point.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Well, it's not really because we're talking about Nikki Minaj's new track with Future Hendrix. And going off of that, it was so much. that happened with the release of that track that I have to get into. But first, of course, just let you know that Pink Friday 2 is still my favorite album of 2023. Just, you know, let you know where I stand. You know, I'm trying to put my application together to be accepted to the barbs. You know, I'm just trying to write some stipulations and some clauses to where I don't have to wrap the words verbatim. I can pick and choose when I want to wrap. And that's it. That's all I want as far as my rules and regulations for my contract.
Starting point is 00:01:56 to be accepting to the barbs. You know what I'm saying? Because, you know, sometimes they may want you to repeat every word like you really mean it. And for me, you know, some of the words, you know, teach his own. But as a straight male, I don't really meet it. So it's whatever. Ikemanage, obviously, express gratitude and her appreciation for her fans because of the immense success.
Starting point is 00:02:21 I'm going to say six. Oh, I did. Well, anyways. The immense success of, you know, pink friday two basically debuting at number one on the billboard 200 making the uh making niki minage the female rapper with the most number ones on the charts also niki minage added 13 dates to a tour which i also have that up right here i think somewhere i'll hear this here it is a pink friday tour i
Starting point is 00:02:50 think i actually had the yeah is that the same thing i think that is the same thing whatever All right, so here we go. All right, so as you can see, I can't, I can't maximize it, I don't think. So we're just going to leave that there. But basically, those are the new dates. It shows is added. Hopefully you can see that if you can't, then blame Instagram. But she added 13 new dates and more expected to be announced.
Starting point is 00:03:19 I just think that's because tickets are selling out, and she's having a lot of success with the pre-sales. let's just say that so to where her fans supported she's going to give y'all more shows i think think that's basically what that means especially and certainly a telltale sign is if they add more shows when they already have two shows in a specific city at that point it's like y'all are supporting so much that she got a triple and double back right if she's going to a city one two three times then you know that that support from that specific city is it's probably greater than the other places or else she would try to tour those two three four five times you know it's uh not normal to
Starting point is 00:04:00 sell out arenas or to sell out these large venues but when you talk about the superstars they make everything that's hard look easy so anyways um deluxe edition pink friday two what else oh okay so let's get into it press play i listen to a track of course um straight fire i think it was a nice turn from from the track off of the original. Try to see if I can find it. Okay, here we go. Yeah, the original track from Nikki and Pluto, which was Nikki Hendrix.
Starting point is 00:04:40 That was more of a slowed down singing type vibe with Nikki also rapping, but it was just more of a R&B type feel. This is not the complete opposite, but basically the complete opposite. straight eight o eight o weights coming in basically a club banger is one of those where the tempo the flows the chorus everything is is set up to be a club anthem and nicky and future definitely knocked it out the park with this one probably one of my favorite songs well technically only like
Starting point is 00:05:17 what 19 days in let's just say i like this song right i really like the song and press play is uh just another example of future just being one of the greatest artists to ever live and also Nikki being one of the greatest rappers ever and them combining and just giving us magic now it's nothing like introspective or intricate or complex it's just simple have fun music and boy did they nail that completely because press play i mean some of the things that nicky was saying towards the end of her verse like i think it should be a crime to look like how nicky Minaj does and speak how she speaks because, you know, for certain males, it's like, you know, you don't want to repeat the bars.
Starting point is 00:06:00 But then certain bars, you feel like she's talking to you, you know what I'm saying? But, you know, obviously she ain't, but I don't want to feel like she is. You know what I'm saying? Y'all feel me? Yeah, I don't feel me? So anyways, so let's get into the real controversy over this track. So basically, I can go back to it. So this happened, right?
Starting point is 00:06:22 Nicky Minaj versus artists and creators. The reason why this is a big deal simply for the fact that artists and creative expressed concerns about the unethical use of AI and the potential exploitation of creative works. Why do they say that? Because it's a random user basically called out Nicky Minaj for using all type of AI imagery to promote press play. As you can see
Starting point is 00:06:48 right here, one of the pictures, Gag City, press play, one to AI pictures another one to AI basically just using AI to make promotional pictures for press play you know and so people jumped out the window because I'm gonna give my personal sentiments in a moment but people jumped out the window basically to raise questions on how ethical it is to use AI to promote certain tracks when you could be given jobs to other people and that's basically what this person was saying down here and basically saying it screams like she has no budget, which is kind of petty because it's Nikki Minaj. Like, come on now. She has no budget.
Starting point is 00:07:26 But anyways, and he he basically said it was like the equivalent he basically said it was the equivalent of wearing an obviously fake
Starting point is 00:07:42 Chanel bag and your whole brand immediately appears feeble and impoverished. That was interesting words to choose. But anyway, Um, Nikki also just, you know, when she replied to it, she said, good, period, now press play. So, you know, she basically said, you know, what's the version they'd be saying?
Starting point is 00:08:04 They'd be saying, uh, what's the phrase? They say like, boy, bye. Basically, she told me, she's like, boy, bye. Like, I ain't, I ain't about to waste my breath on or my, my, uh, mental, my mental capacity on trying to conjure up a response to you. So she said, good. Now press play. So anyways, um, some of the other AI. imagery that they was using.
Starting point is 00:08:24 There's one right here. Press play. She was using this on her Instagram, I believe. I just had her Instagram up. But anyways, let me see if I could pull it back up. Give me a second. Because, yeah, she had it up on her Instagram.
Starting point is 00:08:36 I just had the random picture. I don't know how I just, nah, it just didn't. Let me see. Oh, okay, here we go. So yeah. So Nikki used that right here. So here's another AI,
Starting point is 00:08:54 well, here's another picture with the use of AI promoting press play. And then another one right here. And then, you know, the comment section was surprisingly supportive of the people calling her out for the use of AI. Somebody said, when the richest people can't bother to pay artists anymore to make their ads, who is. Somebody else says, stop using AI. There are literally artists that would probably do this for free for you with how many fans you got.
Starting point is 00:09:23 somebody else said take AI away from yeah they really are like they really taxing her with this AI use and I think it was just a matter of time they just was waiting for a bigger prominent artist to use AI to call this out because it reminds me of when the actors um sag aftra and um what was the other group WGA when they was just a writers guild association when they went on strike um against the studios for their use of AI because if you don't know, self-made machine, no, let me see, proficient machines
Starting point is 00:10:02 are replacing humans. I mean, just look at your local Walmart, right? So when it comes to AI, now artists are starting to be threatened with the actual reality of being replaced by a robot. And these robots, I ain't going to lie to you. You put the right prompt in. They're giving you some artwork. that's better than majority of these artists out here.
Starting point is 00:10:25 So when you come, well, unless it has hands involved, and AI can't do that at all. But that's besides point. AI has evolved to the point where it's now threatening actual artists who want to make a living, putting quality work out there to the public, when you can simply go to a mid-jurney, go to a being image creator, go to, I'm not going to shout all of them before the just get mad at me like why you shouting them out you know what I mean but anyways um yeah so AI art is is getting better and better by the like each day is is improving to the point where now is it's hard to tell if you actually got an artist to do it or AI so this was a matter of time
Starting point is 00:11:13 to happen from artists you know rebelling and and speaking up against that type of views they were just waiting for the right um scapegoat and for that nicky just basically uh fell right into their hands and obviously niki said she wasn't going to stop using it i mean as you can see right here she responded somebody saying you know already covered that good now press play so obviously she ain't bothered so she's going to keep using i mean what was this january 13th and then that was january 13th and then this was i think this was also january 13th anyways so basically basically she just doubled down on the AI use like nobody like she ain't caring by none of these comments everybody like hey you wearing this AI are out like everybody just on her you know what basically telling her to stop using AI so that's basically I'm not gonna beat a dead horse you know how I feel about that I feel like if the artist um I've heard so many stories about just and I don't know if I should say that because personally I've never had a bad experience with the artist like for analytic dreams obviously
Starting point is 00:12:22 I made myself, most of my stuff, like most of the stuff I made. But as far as needing help, I had somebody do an animation, which was like my YouTube, back when intros was a thing in YouTube, I had somebody make my intro basically with my AD logo. And obviously it cost, but I was willing to pay because, you know, he was an expert and he was an artist and he was, you know, into that, you know, basically he knew how I do it. He was a professional. So I paid for it, right?
Starting point is 00:12:52 And he delivered it to me in a timely fashion or a timely manner. I've heard so many stories about people paying for certain stuff up front for a certain art and not getting it back. And so basically, so many stories start to drum up to the point where people are not even, they're not even sad when artists come out and say this type of stuff where they say AI is taking away jobs from photographers, VFX, workers, illustrators, etc. They're basically just saying, well, no, that's basically what they're saying. So it's hard to feel bad for him because most people have the opposite sentiment that I have
Starting point is 00:13:39 because they don't have positive experiences when they work with artists. Me, I've always had positive experiences, always got my whatever I paid for back in a timely manner. if I did and they offered me a refund. I've heard of people just taken off. Like, I remember the Black Okie, Oh God, dang, why don't I choke up right there? Basically, I'm not taking that out either. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:14:00 One take. The Black Hokage, he paid upfront like $500 for some artwork. And then basically saw that person at a convention like the next day. Like, what is this? You know, somebody, you see somebody talk about
Starting point is 00:14:15 they struggling. You give them $500 up front because it's like, you know, $1,000 work or whatever. Let them know you're serious. I think it was five, maybe it was 500 in total. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:14:24 I forget the specifics. But basically the next day, he saw him at a convention. At that point, it's like, dang, like you take my money, saying you're struggling,
Starting point is 00:14:30 saying you really help me out by paying it in a fool, and then you just run off on the plug. You know what I mean? Like, what is that? So from his perspective, I can see how it's hard,
Starting point is 00:14:39 it's hard to feel bad for these artists who are getting outworked by AI. I say outwork. I mean, technically as a robot. So, you know, it's hard to compete with any robot. But,
Starting point is 00:14:47 yeah, so, Me, personally, I do feel bad for the artist because I think that they should get paid for their artwork. And I think AI is not at the point where they just are obviously leaps and bounds better than human artists. I think it's similar. They're at the same level right now. But it is teetering to the point where AI is going to be the more effective and efficient option. I mean, that's why we had our first strike, actor's strike and writer's strike.
Starting point is 00:15:19 and writer's strike for the first time in like 60 years simply because of AI. So it's a real threat to creatives. And we're just now seeing it in little fights here and there. But it's going to cultivate and culminate into something bigger. I just don't know when that's actually going to happen. So for Nikki, I think they was just trying to make a stand basically in her place. platform calling her out because she's one of more prominent figures. I mean, they're literally saying if, if like, what was the comment?
Starting point is 00:15:57 It's if, uh, the richest person can't bother to pay artists anymore to make their ass who is. So, you know, they're targeting Nikki for a reason. And I would say justifiably so, but they're right and Nikki's right. Do what you got to do to save money, but also for the artists, go out there and prove to people why. they should not use AI art maybe just start a whole um a whole union of artists who do only make hand figures or something you know what i mean like do something that AI can't do at all you know what
Starting point is 00:16:33 mean like because i know AI has trouble with hands but that was probably the worst uh advice ever but i'm not no artist y'all got to figure that out well technically i am an artist but in just a different sense of the word anyways uh so wasn't that a review of one particular track i did not think i was going to go that long but i think that That was very important to talk about because it's just going to keep reoccurring because people are not getting with the times of using AI to efficiently do your work. So, and it's a double-sided coin, but I'm not going to keep beating a dead horse. So click my link to my bio. Let me know one of my social media is.
Starting point is 00:17:06 What do you think about gag city and the different extensions of, well, the different drops of gag city, which this particular one, press play feature in future. And regarding the bigger discussion, what do you think about musicians or just any artist using AI art versus human art?
