Starting point is 00:00:03 Now, when it comes to music, of course I talk about Universal Music Group being the undeniable big dogs in the music industry. When it comes to the gaming industry, you should think of UMG and the likes of Nintendo. Why is that? Because Nintendo is a company that has truly changed the gaming industry. history as far as the character Mario having so much impact in just how gaming started to explode amongst the masses and be engaging to the point and captivating to the point that we're here today still playing Mario games in 2024 you should understand that Nintendo is a big dog when it comes to the gaming industry simply for the fact that it's more than an entertainment company. It also sells tech, but on the gaming side, the Nintendo Switch with nearly one million units sold ranks as the third best-selling console of all time.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Nintendo consoles are usually made out of profit meaning the company gets a return on investment from making consoles which analytic dreams video on Spotify to see the video along with the audio but basically I have all a video up from a video up from 4096 channel basically going through all of the Nintendo consoles in one video from 1977 to 2017 to just show you the evolution of these Nintendo consoles right so anyways the reason why Nintendo consoles sell at a profit is because of the graphical quality being at a certain level as far as not being too realistic Nintendo has found the perfect balance balance of making something not super realistic but also not completely utter garbage graphically because if you go back and play super mario 64 right and today's age you will realize that even though that game is super old the animated style makes it seem like it's not as old versus playing a super realistic game trying to be realistic that was put out five years ago and you try to play it today obviously you're going to see and realize that is very much outdated when it comes to graphics but the way the nintendo puts out their graphics you can't really tell over time because of the artistic direction they go in which is
Starting point is 00:03:18 why the console sell at a profit because it's more expensive to get uber realistic game as far as graphics when it comes to Last of Us, God of War, Horizon, things of that nature, makes it harder to get a return on investment because the budget is starting to get way, it's starting to balloon in a way that the revenue is not matching. So hopefully it makes sense on how Microsoft and Sony comes out every year and tell everybody, basically that their consoles lose their money whenever they make it but that's not the point of this segment the point of this segment is to talk about not only nintendo's dominance in just the gaming space with super mario and zelda because you don't need me to tell you that nintendo has
Starting point is 00:04:12 been around and has been dominant forever the point of this segment is to get into yuzu creators having to settle in a lawsuit with nintendo by agreeing to pay 2.4 million and damages and discontinuing support for wait for it the Yu-Zoo switch emulator i know that ain't who i think it is Nintendo saw another company trying to make a switch console I know that ain't who I think it is every time Nintendo sees a company making an emulation site based off their games I know that ain't who I think it is When I tell y'all that Nintendo's strict copyright enforcement is second to none, don't think they won't find you. Don't think they won't catch you.
Starting point is 00:05:11 At some point, they have to maintain their brand integrity because when's the last time y'all seen a Mario game on PlayStation Xbox or that's basically it? When's the last time you've seen Mario on PlayStation or Xbox? My point exactly. Nintendo is strict with its copyright enforcement and they are not to be messed with when it comes to trying to emulate their games onto other consoles that they didn't want. They didn't want those respective games on in the first place. So, of course, the reason why I'm covering this is because previous in the segment, which also check out my episode 137, What's Beef on notorious Mass Effect. this segment is coming after me basically breaking down the best emulators for ios and android so just for the irony i wanted to cover this as well but i'm not staying too long on this it's not really too
Starting point is 00:06:14 much of a story it's another emulator that has fell to the hands of nintendo and you're probably wondering why does nintendo actively pursue these emulation sites well it's basically because it seems like every emulation is basically trying to play the older Super Nintendo or Game Boy Advance games. Like it's nothing emulation worthy
Starting point is 00:06:39 as far as the past PlayStation or Xbox games. It's all about the Nintendo games and having your Mario or your Zelda on your phone. So usually that's what these popular emulators are used for.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Anyways, the specifics of the lawsuit is Nintendo sued Yuzu developers for allegedly designing the emulator to circumvent switch encryption which is why I brought up Nintendo Switch being the third best selling console of all time so anyways Yuzu developers were
Starting point is 00:07:17 allegedly designing the emulator to circumvent the switch encryption facilitating piracy Yuzu and its associated C-I-T-R-A. So I'm just going to say Citra 3D-S emulator will be discontinued. And the related services like Patreon, Discord that's attached to Y-Zu will be shut down. So as far as the settlement, it prohibits any distribution or promotion of Y-Zu in its code and the domain names will be handed over to Nintendo. So Yuzu developers emphasize their stance against piracy
Starting point is 00:08:02 and the unintentional facilitation of game leaks leading to the decision to shut down the projects. And basically, well, ultimately, what I started off the segment by saying, do not mess on Nintendo because they've been around for a long time and they do not mess around with their IP. They maintain strict control over how people experience their media because Nintendo is and has been around and been impacting the gaming culture for forever.
Starting point is 00:08:42 So that's been saying. In conclusion, for this specific settlement, it just basically showcases that the legal challenges, is faced by certain emulation companies, aka developers, that Nintendo will inevitably find at the end of the day and will to the end of the earth
Starting point is 00:09:05 defend their intellectual property with various legal actions. Like Thanos once said, I forgot what Thanos said. I actually forgot the quote. And that's crazy, I'm a Marvel fan. What did Thanos say? Let me find it. It's over now.
Starting point is 00:09:29 I mean, I forgot the quote. So, hey, at that point, you just got to make it up yourself. I'm typing right now if y'all can't hear that. Oh, I found it. I found it. All right. So Nintendo said, oh, no, no, Thanos said at the end of the day, you cannot live with your own failure. And where did that bring you back to me?
Starting point is 00:09:58 I thought by eliminating half of life, the other half will thrive. but you've shown me that's impossible and as long as there are those that remember what was there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be they will resist which is why i correlate that to nintendo shutting down any in every emulator that tries to put nintendo's on people's mobile devices which obviously they're going to keep doing anyway but anyways click my link to you in my bio
Starting point is 00:10:41 let me know one of my social medias what do you think about Nintendo versus emulator developers and also as far as Yuzu were you allegedly a user of that platform and if so let me know your favorite game allegedly that you played using
Starting point is 00:10:57 the Yuzu emulator Thank you.
