Starting point is 00:00:03 So currently, Olivia Rodriguez is back again with a new deluxe edition for our sophomore album, Guts. Now, the reason why this is so prevalent because currently, she only has one track on the Billboard top 100. And for most artists, that's a significant and important accomplishment, of course, because any track on the charts is definitely a win. But for Olivia Rodriguez, you would think she would have more on the charts simply for her amount of sales that she would have for the original version of guts. But currently, the only track off of that album is Vampire, which is at number 48 on the charts. It's been on the charts for about 34 weeks. And last week, it was at number 37. So, of course, it's sliding in a little bit.
Starting point is 00:01:02 Its peak position was number one. So at that point, you can't really take away the accomplishments of what she achieved. And with this track, Vampire, being on the charts for 34 weeks, I don't know if this was actually the rollout for the album or if she just ended up putting this track on the album after the fact for the simple point that it was the most successful as far as her singles. Anyways, she's released a new deluxe edition for Guts, which is her album title. and one of the biggest tracks off of that deluxe edition is obsessed and the reason i say that is because the deluxe edition has already sold 3,000 copies in u.s alone in less than 30 minutes and also the track obsessed is number two on today's top hits as far as Spotify i mean obviously it probably helps out that she's on today's top hits like towards i think she is at the top top
Starting point is 00:02:02 I mean, she's the cover of the playlist, which if you don't know, playlist is like the new radio in today's age. So with some of the tracks like So American, Love is embarrassing, being one of the more performing tracks. But now it seems like Vampire was the long-lasting one, which is funny because it was the one that was out before any of the other tracks off of her album. But, you know, that's besides the point.
Starting point is 00:02:29 because if you really get into it, the whole first week sales is a thing that's brought up a lot in hip hop. But as far as for pop artists, trying to see if I can find it. Yeah, as far as for pop artists, it's not really as prevalent because people will keep listening to it. It will have less of a drop-off than hip-hop as people continuously listen to pop in just any other genre
Starting point is 00:03:02 that involves more melody. melody it doesn't have a higher percentage drop off week to week than hip hop does which is why first week sales for pop is not as important but you know with the new rule and with a lot of the pre-orders for her album not counting I wouldn't say it was necessarily a flop I would just say that her sales may look a little shifted compared to the rest but she's still performing as far as a tracks like a vampire which been on a track for 34 weeks in the top 50 so forget all the the sales talks right we really want to get into just the actual is it good or is it not i mean as
Starting point is 00:03:49 far as a fan base they say they enjoy it which is always a hit as far as what you want from your fan base because that also reflects back into the analytics as the album guts the original version is at number 13 as far as the most popular album in the world. And the total sales for that is 32,000. So even though you do have a lot of fan support from your core fan base, it seems like it's only from your core fan base as the people that she's, you know, inevitably competing against in her own genre. I would say as a Ariana Grande, which, you know, it's not even close.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Her sales is in the 200,000 range compared to a little, Rodriguez 32,000 and then Taylor Swift which is really unfortunate to be having to compete with the likes of a Taylor Swift but you know you're in the same genre so somebody has to point it out her album Midnights has been on the charts forever and it's still above Olivia Rodriguez granted is only a little bit higher in 34,000 but that album literally came out last year i believe and then all of her taylor versions albums is performing better 1989 with 41 000 sales um we're talking about this week um lover 41 000 sales it's just a lot of tracks that you there's a lot of albums that you would think would not be outperforming olivia rodrigo
Starting point is 00:05:25 but unfortunately it is so when you're not comparing her to the likes of a taylor swift and ariana Grande. Of course, she's the premier act as far as all the rest of the pop musicians and she's leading the pack if Ariana and Taylor Swift did not exist. So because they exist, I have to point it out as you would think that her fan base would see those numbers and try to come out in droves to try to push the numbers and with Rodrigo continuing her guts tour and basically combining that with her efforts and the fun for good, which is basically, basically, providing free contraceptive kits at tour stops and this kicked off in February in North America and Europe so basically a lot of fan bases in different locations
Starting point is 00:06:16 will be touched as far as her music and how it impacts in a performative aspect but at the end of the day like Rodrigo having the top a chart topping single and vampire may be enough for her fan base but as far as the body of work as far as the total is really not comparing to the to the the cream of the crop which at this point you would think Olivia Rodrigo having what like one or two albums to her name I think right now if let me see if I could check that I think she's pretty new in the field so yeah she's only released one two she's basically had two albums and then another album she's credited for it's a hungry game soundtrack so yeah basically only two albums so you're out the gate seems like you are in your
Starting point is 00:07:11 premier spotlight because if you don't know when artists first come out and they have a hit usually they are the hottest thing smoking if that makes sense because everybody wants the newest sound and so for olivia to have that new sound and it to seem like it's not replicating the sour album sales is okay because you know at some point you just got to realize you just got to realize that you just may be in third when it comes to the greatest pop artist you know and that's not the biggest discredit in the world because you know hey most majority of the other positions is in a majority of the other musicians are in the worst place so yeah that's basically what i have at the end of day you know elavier rodrigo guts is just simply statistically wise not even coming close to her
Starting point is 00:08:02 last album Sauer which it may be a case of the sophomore slump but as far as quality wise it seems like her fans like it so you know at the end of day if you're only looking at the quality I guess as a musician that's all you can ask for so anyways click my link tree in my bio let me know one of my social media's what do you think about Olivia Rodrigo in her current outing with her deluxe edition for guts and if you've given it a listen what is your favorite track
