At first glance, you're probably like, who in the world is this artist, right?
And then you realize that not only is he prominent in the music industry, but our former president, Barack Obama himself, had him in his summer playlist in 2020.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Barack Obama summer playlist included Omar Apollo.
Now, that's not no music R-I-A certification as far as gold or platinum.
But it might as well be at this point because of the way his summer playlist just encapsvates the masses, right?
So putting that to the side, of course, Omar sells a lot as far as his fan base.
As he has 8.3 monthly listeners, he had the best-selling vinyl.
albums according to billboard in the month of April yeah April 3rd that week he had the best-selling
vinyals with ivory I don't even know what that means anyways basically what we're getting into
is he revealed well he released his new EP titled live for me and it includes four songs
ice slipping live for me angel and pilot and a lot of fans was loving the artwork and stuff and he
even has vinyl's out currently for sale and he put out a tweet not too long ago i believe where he said
or he said it oh no that was a while ago that was september night so basically he was selling
vinals that was with the whole ivory thing and now he's back again with his uh ep and basically
the vinals are also for this updated epi p so he's
said live for me vinyl on sale tomorrow which basically is now uncensored back cover portrait
available make sure it's nothing crazy oh no he blurted out okay available with purchase i'm so excited
all right cool um with that being said the artwork was created by queer artist doran langberg i think this like
said and basically it shared their artwork on instagram and apollo announced the album which is what i was saying
and then the ep sold about 1400 copies and seven minutes according to omar which is a tweet i just
showed and he didn't so we're getting into a little bit more personal details about omar if you
don't know he's gay which is one of those facts was like you hear it
it and then you just keep on going back your day you know to each his own so with omar he revealed
the moment he realized he was gay basically saying he didn't acknowledge his sexuality until he was 17
and then expressed that his queerness is an inherent part of who he is and he doesn't try to change it
he prefers being the one broken up with in relationships that's pretty interesting so basically he's
getting more to his personal.
Basically, he's just getting into how he feels about relationships and his act in it, right?
And saying that he prefers being the one broken up with.
And with that being said, he also previously sung about his queerness and songs like Kamikaze
and Befriend and Live for Me, which is his fourth EPE, following Stereo.
friends and live at NPR's tiny desk.
Oh, he did a tiny desk?
Ain't a lot.
When you do a tiny desk, that just means you're a different level of talent
because a lot of people can't really get up there and keep the audience satisfied as far
as a tiny desk performance.
Like it takes a certain type of artist.
So for Omar to do that, then I believe, and let me stop acting like I ain't listened to his music.
So I don't know why I didn't get to that at the beginning.
So I listen to the EP, right?
I listen to the EP live for me.
And let me tell you something.
I believe that the way that he was singing,
I need a collaboration from him
and the weekend, ASAP.
I need a collaboration from him
and Brett Fias ASAP.
And more importantly, I need a collab from him
and, um,
what's the other one?
Giveon.
That collab needs to happen.
Omar's voice, as far as when he sings, is very reminiscent of when I listen to The Weekend.
I know a lot of people probably don't understand that comparison, but if you listen to Omar Apollo,
then you'll probably get a hint and a more introspective look on what I was talking about
because Omar, the way that he sings really reminds me of the weekend because he hits notes
and he switches up his vocal inflection and he hit, well, I already said notes.
So basically he switches up his vocal inflection in a way that, of course, only singers can do.
Like, you ever try to hit that high note and your voice is cracks and just sounds like a dying animal or something like that?
That's basically the opposite when it comes to Omar.
Like he switches up his voice and hits those high notes with the greatest of efficiency.
So with that being said, yeah, I actually listened to the EP, you know, it was fire.
I actually put on my playlist as far as live for me.
I know it's titled Lift for me, and ironically, that's my favorite track off of the EP, because, you know, that's probably what they was going for.
But anyways, I put that on my playlist, and I do believe that he will, in fact, be one of the more prominent artists going forward because he's immensely talented from me listening to it.
And just his openness about his sexuality and his preference is something that I think is.
commendable and will be when he is more exposed to the masses so with that being said click my
link to you in my bio let me know one of my social media is what do you think about omar apollo
as a as a musician and as far as the live for me ep out now um make sure to give it a listen
is it's very very quality heavy as far as um sonically and um let me know what is your favorite track
after you listen, of course.
You know, that should go without saying.
But anyways, what is your favorite track from Omar Apollo's EP, Live For Me?
