Shepard, promise me you'll tell them to subscribe for free content.
Now, ladies and gentlemen, there's a real discussion that needs to be had.
Shepard.
You know what I'm saying?
As May 10th, 2026, I put out a particular episode that I titled is Capcom, the undisputed MVP of
2026 gaming.
You can see it right now, analytic dreams video on Spotify.
How little did I know?
They were just getting started.
Give them some praise.
Now, the reason why bring up me talking about how Capcom may be the MVP in the month of May of the year of 2026 is because when you look in the totality of the year of 2026, not only did I not know what other type of bangers they had incoming, but I did not think it would be received by the masses as such a prestigious.
level to the point where
Resident Evil Requiem,
Pragmata, of course
you can't even forget Monster Hunter.
Oni Musha was
definitely the biggest X factor
as far as what would the reviews
look like because everybody
not knowing about the franchise
for quite some time and them also
taking a hiatus which we'll get into in a second.
But
Oni Musha, Way of the Sora,
came back and
you want to know what they did on launch day?
one million views and just one day and ladies and gentlemen as far as the actual analytics if you was
wanted to see from the actual site itself because you know our sources aren't just I made it up
as far as the actual source I have it up right now and you can see how of course when you look at
the PS5 version is 96,000 copies in total as you can see right here this is the PS5 version
Don't mind my circle.
Y'all get the point, right?
And then the Switch version is the one they're talking about.
One million copies of one day.
And of course, as of right now, is that 1.6 million copies.
Now, the reason why I show that is not to say, oh, it's a great game just because it's sold
well, because, of course, over here at notorious mass effect, we do get into the gaming
and music IPs that notoriously affect the masses.
But I always say, just because you sell a lot, does not mean you make the highest quality.
And just because you don't sell, does not mean you're making just.
straight garbage abysmal trash
like the two do not correlate.
So looking at Onimusha
specifically, would it sell us so well
out the gate? You'll probably think of it to yourself
why in the world
did they wait so long to make a sequel?
And Capcom responded.
As they said, there was a lot of
manpower that it
took to make other games as far
as Resident Evil, Monster Hunter,
Street Fighter, Devil May Cry 5,
Dragons Dogma 2,
That essentially absorbed the teams that could have been working on the next Onimusha game.
As if you don't know, this IP has been around for quite some time as it started in as far as a franchise.
It debuted in 2001.
The series had four mainline games between 2001, 2006, plus several spinoffs.
You had Donna the Dreams that was the first full-fledged main.
line entry before way of the sword of course launching in 2006 and the franchise
sub uh sub subsequent oh my goodness ain't no way you guys i'm keeping that in there too
that's on me y'all get to see all my mess-ups i only do one take like jZ anyways uh
i'm not even going to try that again basically we look at the franchise and the actual
reviews it received remasters including the first ony musha remaster in two 28
Onimusha second
Onimusha 2
Samurai's Destiny remaster in
2025 and of course despite those
remasters the series went through roughly
Hold up now I ain't no wait
I know that ain't who I think it is
Now I ain't gonna lie to you
You know I don't like the age shame
You know what I'm saying? No I said
I don't like the age shame but when you look at the weight
Two decades
You guys
See that's the problem
That's how long you're waiting
They said so the series
went roughly 20 years
without a new mainline
entry into
Onimusha.
Shepard. Just look at the state of gaming.
Like, what is going on?
Now, if somebody says
that they are a huge
Onimusha fan, I'm not
saying they're old.
I'm just saying. They may have seen
many moons, and that's okay.
You know what I'm saying? The goal is to get old.
You know what I'm saying? To live longer.
You know what I mean?
So,
salute to all the OGs out there that waited this long for a new installment
because best believe y'all came out in droves and definitely showcased to Capcom
why they were correct in putting resources into this new installment
because of course as a whole Capcom is not hurting they could have definitely just
rode the wave of Resident Evil Requiem they could have definitely rolled the wave of
Pragmatta they could have definitely rode the way of Monster Hunter you get the point right
They could have stuck with what was already a proven concept.
Because of course, when it comes to budgets and funding,
nine times out of 10 in today's age, people invests,
well, really investors, they will go with the proven concept over a concept that looks cool
but hasn't been proven yet.
Now, of course, don't ask me about the logic about that.
Just know that's how the stakeholders and investors think.
You know what I'm saying?
So if you ask me, I have no idea why they think they're.
way.
Who do they do?
We beat them. We beat them. We go full.
Instead of going for innovative
concepts, you will see time and time again,
especially in the modern age
of gaming, people will go with a proven
concept and just come out with a remaste,
a remaster, a remake,
a movie, another movie,
and then a third movie, which the game is
not even on. All right, my fault.
Was I too specific with that one?
Anyways, so with the only
Moosh specifically,
it helped out
Capcom as far as showcasing the versatility because pragmata resonant evil Requiem
whilst they are different games only musha is a completely it is in a completely different
ballpark even when you look at a monster hunter perspective because some may be like oh i mean you
fight monsters ain't is it the same of course not so with that be it's if you don't know
the thing that makes owning musha way of the sword unique is that is that is a sword play
focus action titles set in Ido era Kyoto and players control Miyamoto Musashi who battles
Genma or Genma demons using supernatural only abilities and Musashi's appearance is modeled after
the legendary Japanese actor Toshiro Mifoon. Capcom described the game as combining the
series of traditional sword-based combat with modern technology visual presentation and of course
storytelling and when you look at the particular game and them putting out multiple demos as far as
hands-on exhibitions you come to realize that they had high faith in this particular game because fun fact
if a studio is really confident about the particular game about their particular build they will give
reviewers hands-on-time before the game comes out probably honestly speaking the more time between a
release date and early copies, not early copies, but early, like hands on time is usually a good sign.
Now, it's not always a good sign.
Of course, you have your exceptions.
But that is the testament of a studio being like, you know what, we're so confident in this game.
Here's a two week, a three week early access hands on experience so that you can go back
to your audience and tell them that this is everything and more.
and guess what?
When the game actually came out,
it debut,
when I debut,
it currently has a PC gamer score
of 83 out of 100
right now at a PC game.
No,
I was trying to look at Steam,
my fault.
It has a Steam rating of 87%,
which is like very positive, right?
Metacritics is sitting at 85 metacore.
Basically, everybody in the mama
is really giving this game hot praise.
As you look at,
Resident Evil Requiem, it had around the same score.
You look at Pragmata, it also had around the same score.
All of them was really around 85 to be, yeah, so that's interesting.
But then, of course, Oni Musha as well is around 85, and then Monster Hunter Stories 3 was
around 85 as well.
So the versatility of Capcoms on full display, when you look at the revenue aspect,
because you know, Hall of Fame pocket watch is over here, you know what I'm saying?
That's what I just said.
Anyways, when you look at the overall revenue of Capcom, they have a record 59 million as far as consumer units in the year of 2026.
And guess what?
The year is still going.
And then, of course, when you look at Capcom as far as in totality, I think they are showcasing not only why Marvel had their magnificent collab as far as Marvel versus Capcom, but it's because time and time again, Capcom just comes out with storylines that just very engaged.
they come out with characters that are very interesting whether whether is the um i'm about to say
the girl from pragmatic whether it's diana whether is leon from resonant evil whether is uh what was
his name miyamoto mosima because that was his name let me see me uh yeah miyamoto musashi my fault
musima uh miyamoto musashi from this game there's just very interesting characters that they
build upon as far as the storyline
to the point where Marvel was like, hold on now,
we need a whole game
with our characters fighting your characters
because obviously y'all know how to make
magnificent characters just like us.
Now, of course, some
will say Marvel switched up on Capcom.
I mean, somebody got to say it, right?
There's a particular game out right now
that's titled Marvel Tocon.
And of course, personally, I enjoy the game.
I thoroughly love it.
But when you look at the Marvel versus Capcom IP,
you come to realize they already had
tag team fighting game
and they chose to make one specifically
just for the Marvel IP. Now of course
some could say oh they're just branching out or
they thought that Capcom was washed up because of course
I remember covering Capcom June 22nd,
2023 talking about how Capcom bounced back with Street Friday
6th because people looking at Capcom as such a way of
oh y'all are washed up. Basically y'all just leaning on
legacy titles and y'all are
can't come out with anything creative because at that time I'm not going to lie to you there's a
reason why marvel was like you know what let's just make a whole fighting game with just our characters
Capcom was like y'all don't want to collab again they was like no and look at them now you guys
see that's the problem now of course I think Marvel Tocon is fantastic but I would love to see a new
Marvel versus Marvel versus Capcom game that incorporates some of these characters that
Capcom is having immense success with as of course
Of course, when you look at Capcom, right, they have a lot of IPs that they have even touched.
So when you come to Oni Musia's success, you come to realize that the masses started to throw up names to Capcom that they want to reinvigorate, right?
Such as Dead Rising, not Dead Rising, there was another one, such as a Mega Man, that was the one.
Yeah, Mega Man, Dragons Dogma 2, I guess the expansion, people are excited for that.
Ace Attorney
Dead Rising
I think I already said that
Devil May Cry
Dino Crisis and Lost Planet
So those are some of
And this is not my list
These are the masses
As far as my research
This is what the masses
Are saying collectively
As far as the average
They're saying
One of those five names
Every single time
Capcom is like
Oh we may return to a new
To a dormant IP wing wing
Right
It's almost like they realize
You know what
Let's flex on the gaming industry
Even more
and start to branch out and touch some of our older IPs up as far as a gameplay loop as far as a graphics setting
I think Capcom is having a magnificent 2026 as far as not only a bounce back year but of course showcasing what they could do when it comes to
their own IPs so with that being said when it comes to owning musha of course the game is doing phenomenal
it was definitely an IP revival if I've ever seen one because 20 years.
years. I mean, I don't know if it's 20 years exactly. I think it was going on 20 years. Basically,
that's a lot of time, right? So somebody says they're an OG, Oni Musha fan. If they don't have any gray in
their beard or hair, I wouldn't believe them. Just say they're a fake fan. No, just plain. I don't do
that. That's wrong. You know what's not nice. But anyways, you know, only moosea fans. If they're
OGs, they definitely have seen many moons. So when you look at what's next, right? Of course,
the Mega Man, I said that before. Apparently there's a lot of rumors circulating as far as that
be in the next major retro franchise revival after owning musha.
Of course, a lot of people have floated Marvel versus Capcom because Marvel Tokon, whilst
I enjoy it from a subjective level, objectively speaking, I will say it's not as popular
as it should be when having a Marvel IP attached to it because, of course, numbers isn't
everything.
But if you have a Marvel IP, you probably had to pay a licensing fee just like NetE's.
Was it net ease?
Yeah, just like NetE's had to Marvel rival.
So that is why when it comes to revenue, you want to add a certain dollar amount.
Let's just say Marvel Tokon is not at that certain dollar amount.
And I think, call me a conspiracy theorist.
I think it's because of PlayStation just completely sabotaging the PC port.
You know what I'm saying?
Just look at the state of gaming.
Like, what is going on?
PlayStation looked at the state of gaming.
And they said to themselves, I know there's not a modern-day Spider-Man coming out in a video game.
on another platform
that is in PlayStation
I just don't like it
we don't like that
I just don't like that shit man
Hey man
Go on tell
Who is developing Marvel Tokon
I forget the name
But basically go tell them
That we need to look at the PC port
Before it come out
You guys
Now obviously that's conspiracy theory's brain
But I do believe that
Whenever it comes to Spider-Man
PlayStation acts super funny
Because of course
PlayStation's on my Sony
You all right know Sony don't play when it comes to Spider-Man.
You see how them at Disney almost cut ties
and they ended up making a brand new day after they made up, right?
Sony doesn't play about Spider-Man,
and I think we saw that once again
when it comes to the PC port of Marvel Tokon.
But once again, that's my conspiracy theorist.
Maybe I'm just crazy.
You know what I'm saying?
As a long-time, lifelong Spider-Man fan,
my whole clipping channel has the profile picture of Spider-Man carrying me, right?
Maybe just as a longtime Spider-Man fan,
I'm just a conspiracy theorist, right?
Getting back into Oni Musha.
The reason why I bring that up specifically is because Capcom has had W after W this whole year.
I believe there's a real discussion that needs to be had if they deserve MVP because with nine months in,
and I believe objectively, Rockstar will have the biggest game of the year.
I mean, I don't think that's a hot take.
I'm just letting you know why I'm saying it like this.
Basically, because when it comes to the comparison, would you rather have a year like Capcom?
Not talking financially because obviously
everybody's going to choose the money.
Of course I want more of money like Rockstar.
No, not financially.
Subjectively, would you rather have a year like Capcom
or would you rather have a year like Rockstar
as far as one notorious mass effect?
I mean, one of the biggest that we're ever going to see
in the gaming universe, right?
Or would you rather have
showcase your versatility as a publishing studio
in the midst of the hype train for GTS6?
I think that's an interesting discussion to be had because, of course, would you rather want creative longevity throughout the year?
A one very industry-like event that's going to notoriously affect the masses.
So anyways, I think that was one of the things I was contemplating because I'm like, it will Capcom be the MVP of 2026 by the end because GTS-6 would have came out.
But technically it's towards the end of 26.
So I think not months in, I mean, we may just have to give it.
MVP to Capcom for the gaming industry.
I kid you not.
Now, if you wanted to know more things about Onimusha,
a way of the sword, just know that I basically laid it out with the gameplay and the storyline.
Of course, it's on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2 PC.
And when you look at the sales, of course, it's not like blowing you out of the water as far as the sales,
but it's definitely showcasing that, objectively speaking, it's definitely a revival.
and people have interest in this particular IPs.
So it's a W across the board.
But looking at Capcom in totality,
it's really a bigger discussion as far as a 20-year gap happening
because Capcom has so many impressive IPs.
I mean, there's stats,
whether it's Resident Evil Series reaching 213 million lifetime,
whether it's Monster Hunter,
reaching 131 million lifetime,
whether it's Street Fighter reaching 60 million lifetime,
whether it's Reson and Resonauton,
whether it's Resident Evil Requiem reaching 6.9 million by March, 8.06 million by June.
Pragmatic hitting 2.5 million in the first quarter. I mean, Capcom has hits. Boy,
they got hits across the board. Hits for days. Basically, will Capcom end up being in the eyes of the
average gamer, an MVP? Because I hope that Rockstar's dominance with GTS6 doesn't overshadow what
Capcom has accomplished in this entire year.
Very impressive.
I don't know the last time we've seen something like this
as far as this many high quality games.
Not just, oh, it's all right, like Wolverine.
You know, I ain't trying to, we're going to get to that in a second.
But high quality games, like people coming out saying
they may be game in the year.
Oh, and I forgot to say, I play Pragmata and I beat it.
You know what I'm saying?
That's crazy.
I currently have Pragmatas as my favorite game of the year.
So when it comes to Capcom,
I mean, I have high praise, but I played it myself as far as Pragmatic because I don't do scary games.
I'm not going to get an only mooch.
I'm currently in my GTA marathon.
You know, shame's plug.
But when looking at Pragmata and the grand scheme of things, it was going to be a 007.
Well, in my opinion, I thought it was going to be 007 as far as my game in the year.
But then you come to realize that Pragmata from a optimization standpoint is just objectively better out the gate, right?
And then you look at the subjective aspect as far as the storyline.
and I believe that Pragmata had something that I've never seen in the video game from a gameplay story element.
As far as the hacking and shooting, I've never played a game like that.
If there's an OG gamer out there that can point me to a gameplay loop that was similar to Pragmata,
I would be pleased to hear about it because this is the first time I ever played a video game.
It was like, wow, that's a unique feature that I've never had, that I've never had.
that I've never experienced.
That itch that you scratch digitally shooting while also hacking,
while at first it may seem complex from a bird's out view when you get into the actual
game, it's so smooth.
It works so well with each other that it's like,
it's not even that big of a deal as far as the hacking while shooting.
It's just a phenomenal gameplay mechanic and so unique that I think Pragmata to me
is the biggest W from Capcom from a quality perspective.
And of course, Resident Evil fans may get mad at that.
But for me, you know, I only played Pragmata.
I saw Resident Evil as far as other people playing it, but I'm never like those.
I'm not the type of person to watch somebody play.
Oh, yeah, that was definitely better than the game I played.
You know, I didn't have hands on time with it.
So I'm just going to say, as far as my hands on time with multiple games throughout this year,
Pragmata was definitely the most unique by far.
So anyways, when it comes to owning Mousiaway, the sword is doing phenomenal to the point
where, of course, we get into the sales and review Roundup.
We already got into the sales.
will get into the review roundups i g and gave this a 10 out of 10 boy out the gate 10 out of 10
saying quote ony musha way of the sword is an incredible action game with excellent story to match
for as long as i can remember i have wanted to be perfect for 10 seconds when or
ony musha way of the sword understands that desire each time i landed a perfectly time
iSEN pulled off a risky deflect or landed a combo at the right time i felt like i had accomplished
something and of course uh let me see nintendo life gave it a nine at a ten saying quote
only musha way of the sword is a successful revival of capcom samurai franchise that pushes its gameplay
in an exciting new direction while still retaining its core identity the slower more deliberate
combat feels great, especially when you manage several deflections and quick succession
before slicing your foe in half.
Glorious, not everything works.
The English voiceover doesn't quite fit well with the overall presentation, while
occasionally jaunts, I don't know what that means, to and from multiple NPCs threatened
to derail the otherwise excellent pacing.
These are minor gripes, though.
Onimusha is back, baby.
It's better than ever.
I mean, that's a review right there, boy.
GameSpot gave Onimushia 8 out of 10 saying, quote,
Way of the Sword's combat is exceptional,
and it features some of the best boss fights I've ever seen.
But there's always this nagging feeling that it could have been better.
The uninspired semi-open world is a misstep that doesn't justify its existence.
Okay.
Yet Way of the Sword is still a fantastic and welcome return for the series,
led by outstanding combat that firmly places it in the upper echelon of modern action games.
Fighting is everything after all.
And there's nothing else quite like Musashi's brand of calculated violence.
That man, violent, hold on now.
What are you doing?
You know, these heroes that be killing, you know what I'm saying?
As far as my Spider-Man ways, I can't get behind it.
I'm just saying, you know, you call yourself a hero, you're out here murdering people.
Wolverine.
anyways um
Forbes one in the world
they have game reviewers over at Forbes
anyways they gave Onimusha
9 out of 10 and described it as
possibly quote the best game in the
series and by quite a large margin
but they definitely um
that's something okay so yeah
that's basically all the reviews later
all the review roundups that I wanted to give
so when it comes to
the actual gameplay loop
of Onimusha definitely make sure
to click my links here in my bio to follow me
my social medias and if you're on spotify make sure to comment down below what specifically if
you played the game what specifically do you enjoy most about ony musha and if you haven't played
ony musha are you planning on picking it up in the year of 2026
