You can't judge something if there's no criteria.
Interestingly enough, Playboy Cardi has suspended his mysterious ways to give us some experimental sounds
teasing his new project titled I Am Music.
The plethora of songs that came out, one is a different day.
The album is titled I Am Music.
music and there's another track titled you're the moon so basically I'm a break down each and every
track but for this album review segment I kind of wanted to get into his sentiments because I think
that's something that's been said but not a lot of people adhere to it simply for the conversation
of what's better in the conversation of comparing things and trying to put something below or above
something else now what am i talking about with that right obviously playbordy saying you can't judge
something if there's no criteria is basically pointing out the fact that music is ultimately subjective
there's no litmus test for what's good music and what's not i don't care if a producer comes out
and says oh the snares can sound like this but it sounds like that or the
808 is lower than the vocal chords.
Maybe the listener prefers certain things over others that may not co-aligned with the top
of the top producers standards, right?
Because that's usually the argument I'm presented when I say music is subjective.
Because a lot of people say, well, production is not subjective because these high hats,
have to sound like this because this is a this is a good snare this is a bad snare this is how you
uh EQ to make the vocal chords blend in with the beat like it's all sorts of stuff that
producers will say but at the end of the day music is ultimately ultimately subjective they never
argue the fact that the artists whatever they're doing over the beat could be subjective they argue
that the beat in the production is more objective than subjective which to me is still false because
people are individuals in the sense that their perception is different than many others.
That's why when you have influencers, certain dollars are thrown their way because they
influence the masses to think exactly like the person that they are following thinks like.
Hopefully that makes sense.
So let's say Kastanak comes out and says a track is straight straight.
fire. His followers, more likely than I, are going to start saying that that track is straight
fire. But if he says it's trash, more than likely, his following is going to start saying that
that track is not good at all. So when you say music is subjective, that's when I start to get
into the realm of music is subjective, personal experiences, invoke certain memories, emotions
to make you gravitate toward certain songs than others, but ultimately, influence
are the ones that moves to masses to think a certain way.
So what you think is subjective is not really noticing the subconscious effects of cultural
differences, cultural backgrounds, because now with the internet, all of those lines are blurred
together.
So I'm not going to go on a host of liloquy.
I'm just letting y'all know that Playboy Cardi literally coming out with his first promotional
quote saying, you can't judge something if there's no criteria, is the perfect way to start
off in the album rollout because at the end of the day, music is supposed to be a fun,
creative process, and a lot of people try to put objective-based criteria on how you're supposed
to make hip-hop.
But as we've seen lately, you can experiment as much as you want to as long as it's good.
So with that being said, click my link tree in my bio.
Let me know one of my social medias.
What do you think about Playboy Cardi's album, I Am Music, supposedly dropping in February.
And also, what are you most expecting or most looking forward to when I Am music eventually releases?
