Shepard, promise me you'll tell them to subscribe for a free content.
Now, I believe Nintendo has finally found its killer app.
Shepard, just look at the state of gaming.
Like, what is going on?
Because when you look at the state of Nintendo Switch 2, safe to save,
a lot of people were thinking to themselves outside of Donkey Kong Bonanza,
which we're going to get to that in the second.
What objectively superior games?
did the Nintendo Switch 2 have.
You guys.
And that's what we're set to get into today
because of course when you look at a killer app,
safe to say that definition is basically a game software program
or feature so exceptionally desirable, innovative,
or useful that it significantly drives the sales and adoption of a platform.
And of course, you probably think it to yourself.
Wasn't that Mario Kart World?
and I'm not going to lie to you.
Of course, you will be correct because we do not disrespect Mario's name over here.
But when it comes to the launch of Nintendo Switch 2, safe to say those sales were pretty skewed
because that's when the actual platform was available.
So when you look at the killer apps, objectively speaking, for the Nintendo Switch 2,
of course you had Mario Kart World because it came out when the hardware came out.
And that had around 14 million units at launch, right, because of the heavy bundle inclusion.
But then Donkey Kong Bananza came around.
And objectively speaking, it is the second biggest Nintendo Switch 2 game, selling 4.2 million units.
And of course, you have Pokemon Legend Z-A or Zah, however you want to pronounce it.
And that Switch 2 edition sold 3.8 million.
and then you come to realize,
ladies and gentlemen,
the game we're getting into right now
currently has only been out
for about two weeks
and safe to say it's already in the top
five, more specifically, number four,
as far as the most profitable
Nintendo Switch 2 games.
Now, the reason why it started off
like that is to let you know the immense
respect we're about to put on Pokemon
Pocopia, because what have
we been saying for quite some time?
Nintendo, please,
innovate on a Pokemon formula and guess what you guys they finally did
Shepherd just look at the state of gaming like what is going on I'm so glad
that Nintendo is getting this positive reception because of course when it comes
to innovation in the Pokemon realm let's just say Nintendo is going with the model
if it's not broke don't fix it you know I'm saying so now when you innovate and
get rewarded in the way that they have because mind you these sales have exceeded the expectation of
nintendo 2.2 million copies in the first four days one million copies in japan alone 45% of the total
the early life cycle of this game and already surpassing two million copies i think goes to show
that a lot of people was not only wanting them to innovate
But as soon as they did, they supported them like the life or the die hard Nintendo fans, they are.
So getting more into Pokemon, Pocopia, how do you want to pronounce it.
The main thing I wanted to let you in on is Mario has been carrying the Nintendo on his back.
Shepard.
All right, my fault.
I mean, I'm just keeping eight more than 92.
Not to disrespect the other Nintendo franchises, but if you don't know,
Mario has a clear lead when it comes to being a killer app to the point where the overall sales for Mario is around 890 to 940 million units, by far the highest as far as a Nintendo specific game, right?
Second closest is Pokemon with 480 to 489 million units.
We series, just the Wii series as a whole, 215 to 22 million.
of Zelda has 150 to 182 million and of course you have donkey Kong with 80 to 100 to 105 million units so
when it covers the Mario carrying the Nintendo platform safe to say there's no competition but
popopia is now starting to present more options for Nintendo to uplift the overall Nintendo brand while
also showcasing that when you innovate you will get rewarded by the fans so anyways if you
don't know the game that we're currently talking about safe to say we're about to get into
pokem pocop of course this is a sales and review roundup and if you're not familiar over here we're
getting to the gaming and music IPs that notoriously affect the masses so this is definitely in that
lane as not only did this just come out march 5th but when you look at this being a nintendo switch
two exclusive which not to be that guy but of course with nintendo they specifically toned down
graphics so that the hardware isn't as expensive as far as in a development cycle right so now we
have the swiss two and the swish one and it's only on the switch two and it looks like it does as far as
pocopoeia which it doesn't look bad i'm just saying you couldn't have put it on the switch one
but guess what they probably said wu nintendo probably looking at you they took a glance at your wallet
what do they do they say man put that exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 and the rest was history
so because I don't see no other reason for this not to be on the Switch 1 anyways um
so with that being said the main thing I want to get into is of course this game is developed by game
free Omega Force as far as the building slash crafting expertise you know having certain developers
who are great in certain areas is great is phenomenal for games at such a high stature like a
Pokemon IP right so now the publishers of course Nintendo the Pokemon company when you look at the game
as a whole it's basically a simulation type game it's uh don't call it my craft right uh don't
definitely don't call the power shepherd all right all right my fault um when it comes to the simulation
of this game you start off controlling ditto in human form and it's set in a post apocalyptic world
where humans vanished.
And the goal is to rebuild world
into a poke,
rebuild the world into a Pokemon utopia.
Safe to say,
Ditto is out here doing the Lord's work.
Give them some praise.
You know what I'm saying?
That's what I was just saying.
Give them some praise.
Yeah, I appreciate you, Drusky.
Anyway, let's get back into it.
So when you come to the core gameplay loop,
safe to say, you gather resources,
you craft, you build,
you know, it's very,
similar to another game, but I ain't going to say it.
Shepherd.
No, I said, I ain't going to say it.
I'm not going to say it.
You know what I'm saying?
But anyways, you gather resources, you craft, you build, you attract Pokemon, and you
expand the world.
So that's the whole simulation as far as this particular game.
Obviously, it's a cozy type simulator.
If you enjoy Animal Crossing, if you enjoy Minecraft.
This game is just that.
I'm sorry, this game is just a mix of those two games.
I ain't going to kept to you.
If you love those games, you'll love this game.
game. So I just had to keep it eight more than 92 because somebody got to say it. Like, this is just a mix of Minecraft and Animal Crossing. Now I'm not mad at it. You know, they saw what Power World did. Sueed the socks out of them. Sue the pants off of Powerl. Right? Took all the money just to do the same thing.
Shepherd. Just look at the state of gaming. Like, what is going on?
I swear, you just can't make this stuff up.
So, anyways, Nintendo does what it wants.
So as far as them having a Minecraft animal crossing mix,
safe to say they pulled it off flawlessly.
As far as the crafting and building, you create homes, furnitures, environments,
you farm, you cook, you habitat, design.
I mean, it's so much to do in this game.
Pokemon interactions is based on recruiting,
befriending Pokemon using their abilities like planting,
irrigation.
There's no combat in this game.
so yeah there's no combat in this game when it comes to the focus is basically building a world
outside of humans right because you're focusing on relaxation creativity other than um you know
compared to the previous Pokemon games as far as the battling the strategic type of approach
to battling and things of that nature as you know a lot of people are talking about the sales
of Pokemon Pokopoeia and I think when you look at
that Pokemon in its core essence, it would be interesting to see, it would be interesting to see if this
gets to the level of stature like a Pokemon red slash green slash blue, a Pokemon scarlet violet,
a Pokemon sword and shield. You get the point, right? Because I literally just listed off
the top three most profitable Pokemon games. So those games have a very definite loop. And
Pokemon fans are used to that loop. It'll be game industry changing if this ends up selling like those
specific games because guess what? That means you're going to get more of it.
That is why it's always great to vote with your wallet and basically give the developers what you
want and only reward them with your wallet when they give it to you because Pokemon Pocopoeia is
exactly that people was wanting innovation in a Pokemon franchise Nintendo gave it to you in the form
of this game and now everybody is supporting it with the wallet so for those who have jobs out there
can't spend you know in egregious amount of time on a singular game just know that this is a
pretty lengthy game but to be fair when you look at the main story it runs you about 15 to 25 hours
the main plus side content is 50 to 100 hours and of course when you come to completionist
slash creative play is a hundred plus hours so the main thing i was wanting to get at especially
when you look at other things in the completionist realm is basically a hundred plus hours open-ended
so it's similar to other type of games like a Minecraft like an animal crossing
it's as long as you make it but as far as the main story it probably would take you 15 to 25 hours there's no strict ending because it's a simulation right the story resolves a very interesting mystery that people want to find out about right so it's going to answer certain things while spoiling you know too much it's going to answer certain questions you have especially um some of the let's just call it the elephants in the room they they answer those right so um right now
everybody's enjoying this game it's currently the most play game on a nintendo platform
uh when you look at other games i mean Pokemon legends z hyphen a is next up as far as on the list
of best selling nintendo games i the switch two version of legends is currently the 11th most
play game on a nintendo platform and then the switch one edition is the 12th most play game so
when you look at it in totality Pokemon polkopoeia
Pokemon uh, Legends Z hyphen name. Those are the two most profitable Pokemon games currently on
the Nintendo charts. So now what does this lead Pokemon Pocopia? Because it's like a huge gap.
I mean, number one as far as a bestselling game on Nintendo versus Pokemon Legends, which,
you know, still putting respect on their name because they sold like around like four million
copies. Um, but currently they're around 11th to 12th most play game on the Nintendo platform. I think
Pocopio to have the type of impact that I think it should have,
should have some type of mobile game attached to it at some point.
I don't know what you're saying.
It's way too soon for this type of spinoff.
But, you know, hey, when you come to notorious mass effect,
not only do we present salute, well, yeah, we present, like,
what's the problem with certain things, but we also present solutions.
Now, there's nothing wrong with Pokemon, Pocopio.
but i think for the evolution because everybody wants that how are they going to evolve right how are
they going to stay around for the foreseeable future i think a mobile game is definitely in the near
future for this specific game to make it more accessible for other people especially if you
tied into the main console game and have certain incentives to play the mobile game to unlock
certain things now i'm not saying putting it behind the mobile game i'm just saying it can add to it
similar to how NBA 2K has their mobile app along with 2K.
So, you know, similar to that.
So anyways, as far as the roster, I don't think I talked about the roster.
So there's likely hundreds of Pokemon's in this game.
When you look at the classic Pokemon, they are in this game.
I'm not going to spoil it too much, but, you know, there may be legendary encounters.
When you look at the system designs, Pokemon are tied to utility roles.
So grass, Pokemon are for planting, water Pokemon is for irrigation, and the focus is Pokemon as companions, not battle units like you're accustomed to seeing in a Pokemon gameplay loop.
So now, when you look at the market, because of course over here at notorious mass effect, we get into the gaming and music IPs that notoriously affect the masses, let's talk about specifically how Pokemon Pocopia is one of the biggest Nintendo Switch 2 sellers.
on the market currently like i just gave i just gave you the list earlier and really at the beginning of
this segment mario card world is number one of course donkey con bananza is number two
Pokemon legend z hyphenates number three and then of course you have Pokemon polkopoeia at number
four and then you have kirby air riders at number five that's the top five games for selling a switch
two as far as you know a game coming out and being a console seller so Pokemon pocopoeia is
quickly rising up the ranks but more specifically when it comes
comes to the market impact, it sold around 10 plus to 20 plus percent as far as a surge the
week it came out. And it's still 28 to 30 percent down over previous months. So Pocopia is doing
what Nintendo did not think it would do, which was actually helped sell more Nintendo switch
to units than they actually projected. They did not think that Pocopia was going to be this big of a
hit. This surprised a lot of people, even Nintendo.
I think to put in a comparison,
Pocopoeia is a Pocopia, how if you want to pronounce it.
It is a spinoff, right?
But the way that it's being praised right now,
I don't think Nintendo expected this type of reception.
Because remember, when the trailer came out,
and I even covered this, I forget when I covered this.
So I remember covering this September 19th, 20,
the Nintendo Direct for the Pocopio, right?
I think that was the first one, yeah.
Okay, so first time covering that,
I basically said, hold on now.
I know Nintendo, and literally, that's where a lot of comments,
you know, that one did pretty well.
You know, salute to all my support for long haul, you know what I'm saying?
But basically, that review was up there as it was technically a reaction,
but I noticed right off the bat that they was just straight up
ripping off Minecraft and Animal Crossing.
and what they just did with Powerl
it just left the bad taste of my mouth
It's like, hold up now
Ain't no way you just did let Powerl eat
And now you're doing the same thing to other companies
I was like, isn't that ironic?
You guys
See, that's the problem
So I cut it off mid-reaction
So when it comes to
A lot of other people having that same sentiment
As far as his gang egregiously
Just ripping off Minecraft and Animal Crossing
It is very apparent
that the 180 happened before the game released,
or maybe during the game's release,
when people played it and it came to realize
that this is a very well-crafted simulator.
Yes, it may take heavy inspiration
from Animal Crossing and Minecraft,
but there's so much attention to detail
that we have to give it the highest praise
because, of course, we did want Nintendo to innovate,
and this is what they gave us.
So the main reason why I say that is,
because the 180 that happened, the market impact,
as far as the $14 billion increase in the Nintendo brand,
they did not see this coming.
The system seller, the strong demand,
they did think, like, there was a possibility for it to be received well,
but they did not think that this was just going to be blatantly a console seller.
So anyways, shout out to Pokemon Pocopio for that.
Of course, when you get into the review roundups of this specific game,
IGN gave this a 9 out of 10 saying quote poca poca poca paupo uh pocapea is an enjoyable personality pack
building simulator set in a surprisingly deep world that is stuffed with fun things for
its delightful ditto protagonist to do and create it's packed with fun things to do and worthy
rewards for doing them and strikes a healthy balance between freedom and suggestion
and is building mechanics in parentheses,
despite a few precision nitpicks.
All of this is housed in an adorable adventure through
in an interesting and surprisingly deep setting
that presses all the nostalgia buttons for longtime fans.
And that's not it, ladies and gentlemen.
TechRadar gave it to 10 out of 10.
They said, quote,
Pokemon Pocopoeia is a killer combination of town building sim and adventure
that even non-Pokyman fans should give a try dot dot dot a killer combination of town
building sim and adventure now of course dual shockers gave this a 9.5 out of 10
highlighting in aggregates for a strong praise of gameplay loop visuals and
addictiveness. So now
I think I want to give
another one. Games radar
gave this a 4.5 at a 5
game spot gave this a 9 out of 10. They said
quote, the moment to moment game player
Pokemon Pocopoeia is joyful
and breezy. Flexible world
is bursting with secrets to explore
and Pokemon to befriend.
Writing is frequently, warm
hearted and funny. Building
habitats is a great way
to re-contextualize.
catching Pokemon.
Last but definitely not least,
Eurogamer. Gay Pokemon
Pokopoeia, 4 out of 5 saying,
quote,
Pocopoeia succeeds in capturing
the spirit of Pokemon's past
without sacrificing
its uniqueness.
As one of the best spinoffs,
the franchise has ever seen,
dot, dot, dot, dot.
The S's of Pokemon gets
a delightful twist.
So I don't know if y'all can tell.
By the end of the day, a lot of these conglomerates are really just head over heels for this specific game.
I just listed off a plethora of reasons why people are enjoying this infatuated.
They just can't get enough of Pokemon Pocopio for the simple fact that the innovation is there.
The attention of detail is there.
And of course, listening to the fans is also there because they've been begging for Nintendo to switch up the plain old Pokemon formula.
Because you know what they say?
it was broke, don't fix it, which they technically did that with Pokemon Z-8.
But coming out of the cut with Pokemon Pocopoeia, the financial impact blowing Nintendo's
expectations out of the water, which means that they will start listening to the fans more
when we say we want them to innovate on certain things.
I think this is not only a W for Nintendo, but it's also a W for gamers who votes with their
wallet.
Shepard, just look at the state of gaming.
Like, what is going on?
So with that being said, click my link to you in my bio.
Let me know in one of my social medias.
What do you think about Pokemon Popopia?
Do you believe that this specific iteration of the Pokemon franchise was needed?
And do you believe that Pokemon Popopoeia is potentially game of the year?
