Starting point is 00:00:03 Now I know what you're thinking. It's 2025 and we're about to dive into Polo G. And you're exactly right. You guys. See that's the problem. As when it comes to his latest release because he's definitely been putting out music for quite some time, but shoot it off as far as 2025 seems like the first single from Polo G because it just came out and of course it was released under Columbia Records, the division of Sony. But when you look at the offering of 2025 from polo g's perspective he did have the track move wrong featuring vaughn off 1700 uh then we then we have marco polo but that was upstates track but it was featuring polo g and then of course you had play this at my funeral what in the world nino page's track and that featured polo g so it seems
Starting point is 00:00:56 like it wasn't a lot of polo g centric tracks as far as from him specifically in 2025 so the only track we could look at and say that's essentially from polar g is the august 12th track move wrong featuring vaughn off but of course as of right now this is the first one and i'm saying that i believe this is the single depending on how it performs and it's titled shoot it off now we already know when it comes to the war in rat lander which you know shameless plug to my latest episode is out right now you are me diving into Atlanta about the snitching allegations i could care less the main thing i care about the business side of things so getting into polo g's business a little bit as far as his first major recognition obviously he had the finer things track and then he had the pop out track which went number
Starting point is 00:01:43 11 on billboard hot 100 the main thing i was wanted to get at as far as polo g was telling y'all that the climb back to relevancy once the public labels you as an artist who falls off is very difficult and the reason why I say that is because June 2019 Diage Legend came out came out and sold 38,000 first week then you had the goat May 2020 that sold around 100,000 first week and then you had Hall of Fame that sold 143,000 first week and then that seemed to be the decline of Polo G as when Hall of Fame 2.0 came out it sold 74,000 first week And then of course, when Hood Poet came out, it sold a whopping 24,000 first week. But then, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:02:35 I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop. Like, what's going on? So when we're looking at all these interesting metrics, the main thing that I was wanting to tell you is that I think the fact that he's declining itself is due to a plethora of things. One thing is Polo G fighting with his label, right? Columbia seems to be delaying Polo G's records for whatever the reason. They could say because of low sales,
Starting point is 00:03:03 Polo G can say, you're holding me back and now you're at a stalemate, right? Legal troubles. Polo G has been in several scenarios where he shouldn't have been, right? And technically, as far as serving jail time, it seems like he's never really serving jail time. He's always getting bailed out, whether it's 100,000 here, 200,000 there. And then lastly, he was arrested in LA, October, 2024 during the traffic stop for speeding. And then he had a, it was like felony concealed weapon and a loaded gun in the car, but he was released on the same day.
Starting point is 00:03:43 So those are just some of the legal troubles. I don't want to bring up at all because I like to focus on the music. And since he put out a track, I wanted to speak on that and basically showcase some of the obstacles that he will have to overcome. come if he wants to solely focus on beating the you fell off allegations because i think polo g is a phenomenal artist i like the way he puts together flows and melodies i like the way he raps i think he's a great rapper i think the main thing for him is maybe choosing a producer that challenges his flows right if you're a rapper and you love this pocket but then people start to hate you for the same thing they loves you for maybe just maybe it's time to switch it up completely i'm not saying like make no
Starting point is 00:04:28 country album like big ex the plug is did i'm just basically saying production wise is very formulaic to the point where it seems like you're trying to recapivate that 2020 2019 type of sound when people want more innovation than just a copy and paste if conier west was copying pacing graduation time and time and time again which not saying that polo g has a graduation in this discography i'm just saying that if conya west did that a lot of people would say you're only good for one thing right and that's what a lot of people are saying about polo g that's that's why i'm saying if you get production that challenges your flows challenges the way you approach your beat i think that would be the best way to cultivate a new fan base that's not fickle
Starting point is 00:05:16 that would switch on you and say you fell off in a heartbeat right So those are just my little two cents on Polo G. The main thing I wanted to just cover Polo G, because I like him as an artist, and he's not on the charts or anything, usually over here at Notorious Mass Effect. We talk about the artist that's notoriously impacting masses. But for Polo G, I think he's climbing his way back up,
Starting point is 00:05:35 and he's starting off his redemption arc with his track shoot it off that's out now on all DSPs. So that being said, click my link, sure in my bio, let me know on one of my social medias. What do you think about Polo G's latest track, shoot it off? And at the end of the day, will you be listening to polo g's music in 2025
