Starting point is 00:00:03 He was called a culture vulture, a one-hit wonder. How did that feel to you? It sucked. Yeah. I was a kid. 1920. How did you deal with it? Drink a lot.
Starting point is 00:00:17 Did you take it personally? Absolutely. It's hard not to. All right. So, of course, that's Post Malone responding to the continuous question that never seems to go away. Is Post Malone a culture vulture? Now, ladies and gentlemen, with that being said, Post Malone just put out an entire country album featuring nothing but country artists.
Starting point is 00:00:49 Now, when I tell you that I thought the specific singles that he had was a one-off as far as features, I thought the rest of it was going to be his rendition of country music. but lord and behold we have tim mcgraw Hank Williams Morgan Wallen Blake Shelton dolly Parton Brad Paisley Luke Holmes Laney Wilson I mean goodness is this Post Malone's album or is this Post Malone and friends like I understand the wanting to be or the want to be respectful towards the the greats in that genre but goodness how many features until it's not even even a post malo album anymore like at this point i believe post malone probably has like 40 to 50% contribution as far as the verses on this album which is insane since it's 57 minutes long but
Starting point is 00:01:45 with all that being said i'm a huge post malone fan so i already know that the music will be high quality it's just post malone putting out a debut country album f1 trillion you would think that he would try to uh showcase his own rendition of country songs right because I believe Post Malone has the ability to put out his own body of work that's heavily influenced by country. But you know, hey, haven't listened to the album yet. I just opened it up and saw the whole list of features and was wondering, did I click on the wrong name? Because I thought it was a Post Malone album. But apparently, it looked like a compilation to me.
Starting point is 00:02:25 Anyways, Post Malone has been dealing with the Culture Vulture title for quite some time now. and it's simply because of his first hit white iverson now i want to let y'all know ever since white iverson he's had multiple several i mean a ginormous amount of diamond certified tracks so it's almost like this man is just good at making music and he was actually just making music that spoke to him instead of being a culture vulture, which everybody loves to run to as far as labeling him. Because if you don't know, technically speaking, a diamond certification is awarded by the Recording Industry Association of America,
Starting point is 00:03:14 RIAA, which you've probably heard of, which is recognizing the sale of 10 million copies of an album or a single. Now, I want you to go to your local DSP, whether you use Spotify, album music, And let's click on Post Malone. Well, look at Post Malone first in the search bar. Click on Post Malone. Then let's go to discography.
Starting point is 00:03:38 And then click on this thing called the Diamond Collection. And I want you all to count how many tracks on the album. Those are all certified Diamond, except for Overdrive and Mourning, I believe. I think in filling Whitney, I think those are like the new tracks. But as far as the Diamond Collection, all of these Trifold. tracks are diamond. Wyatt Iverson, congratulations featuring Cuevo.
Starting point is 00:04:05 I fall apart. Rockstar featuring 21stavage. Psycho featuring Todd Dollar Sign. Better now. Sunflower, circles. Wow. I mean, I could go on and on.
Starting point is 00:04:14 Post Malone has one of the best discographys I've ever heard in music. I know that's a huge claim as a person who heavily covers hip hop. But as far as my list of artists that never make bad music, I mean, there's Rihanna. Of course, there's the weekend. And then I have Post Malone right there. I think Post Malone is very, very talented and exceptionally talented to the point where he can go into another genre and do it all by himself. That's why I'm bringing it full circle as far as the current album is out now.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Having even given it a listen yet, but just thrown off by the fact there's just so many features. And I think personally, Post Malone can hold his own in whatever genre. So anyways, Post Malone has released his debut country album. Hopefully that goes without saying based on the intro. F1 trillion is the name marking his official entry into the country music genre after years of hinting at his transition. Talk about a rollout, right? So like I was saying, it's about 18 tracks, 57 minutes, and it is under Mercury Records, Republic, records a division of UMG recorded so he's basically under the big bad wolf of the industry
Starting point is 00:05:35 universal music group which if you who if you don't know i mean it's one of the biggest music groups uh bar none like it's literally i was trying to find it um yeah because i have the market share always pulled up so anyways um universal music group has about 57 percent goodness a whopping 57% of the music industry and just think of the amount of music music that's released daily to have 57% of music industry is insane you have the likes of a taylor swift uh a morgan wallen a charlie xx uh chapel rowan um zach brian i mean listen to all these names who's at the top of that top as far as like sales wise morgan wallin i already say i think i to his name.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Noah Khan, Eminem, I could probably just stop at Eminem. Once you have Eminem and Taylor Swift on one label, that's literally like the current Team USA team that just won gold. Like, after you say LeBron and Curry, like, it really don't matter.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Like, okay, your team is the best. We get it. So that should just put in perspective how big Universal Music Group is. And the reason why I'm bringing them up is because Post Malone, back when he was putting out Austin was going through a huge dispute as far as his his label was concerned,
Starting point is 00:07:14 which is why when you go to a 12-carat toothache, which was released back in 2020, he was, was it that one? Was it that one? Was it Hollywood's Bleeding Republic? And it came in. And then he went in 2022. Yeah, okay. So he signed to Mercury, who was also a part of Republic. But they went through a whole contract dispute.
Starting point is 00:07:37 which is why you don't see Mercury on any of the albums, uh, 2019 before, but you do after because they basically settled the dispute, which is, uh, very much, um,
Starting point is 00:07:48 industry talking down. I don't want to bore y'all, but basically they was playing with my boy posts, acting like he wasn't as big as he was. And that's what every major label does. They try to knock off the mascot just a little bit. So when it comes to renegotiation, you can't ask for the entire house and then some.
Starting point is 00:08:03 So as far as the album promotion is considered in the art, I mean, the album's cover art is created by Mexican artist Gonzalo LaBria, LaBrija. Hopefully I'm saying that right. Probably bushyed it, but it's okay. It features a 1971 pickup truck suspended before hitting the water. And do you know what that symbolizes? The album's dramatic and thoughtful presentation. His PR team definitely didn't send me that to read.
Starting point is 00:08:37 With that being said, some of the more things, more pivotal things I wanted to get into was his trip to Nashville. So one of the things that Post Malone did was visit Nashville. And I had a video of Post Malone in Nashville. I may have not put it up. If I do put it up, it will be on analytic dreams video on Spotify. But, yeah, man, here's that video of Post Malone enjoying himself in Nashville right here. This man asking for the pong tables. yeah um celebrating in nashville speaking from personal experience you know what i'm saying um
Starting point is 00:09:40 safe to say he had a good time that's why i'm gonna leave it at so yeah post malone had a listening party in nashville and obviously there's a lot of things in nashville as far it being the uh what do they call themselves the city where music lives something like that but anyways the reason why they call themselves that is because there's this place we went to it was called broadway pretty sure y'all heard of it it's a lot of live performers at every single bar and phenomenal time phenomenal environment one of the best environments i've ever been in in life just the overall aesthetic of it and me being a music head and of course with shibuzzi being on top you know they played my song i was about to sing it but i'm not going to embarrass myself so uh so anyways yeah that's basically uh
Starting point is 00:10:30 saying that you know post malone probably had a nice you know good old time in Nashville you know just peeping the scenery scanning badges but you know it's whatever um post Malone and going into his album post rollout uh will be interesting because I've never really paid attention to country artist marketing strategies because obviously I paid attention to the whole music landscape and I've seen how people usually use the marketing teams to put out certain promotional tactics. But specifically country and putting out an album like this that has so many different country artists, I would be hard pressed to be able to predict on what his next move would be. But as far as like what makes sense business-wise,
Starting point is 00:11:19 there's an upcoming tour for Post Malone where he will be starting in September, uh, 2024 to promote the F1 trillion album. And he will have performances scheduled in various cities, of course, including Boston's Fenway Park and Atlanta's Lakewood Ampitheater. So things of that nature, you know, just ginormous locations for all his fans to come and enjoy his music. So one of the things that I wanted to touch on before I got into like specific tracks I wanted to cover is that the track with Morgan Wallin, I had some help, is still running the charts. mean talk about an assist one of the biggest things in this rollout was the names that he had on his singles so i had some help with morgan walling almost no no it did peak at number one so at one point
Starting point is 00:12:12 it was the number one most play song in the world y'all want to know what currently is the number one been on the charts for about 17 weeks still number one you know nothing too shabby um shibuzi a bar song which is why i even brought him up in the first place so uh yeah Post Malone is a little bit below that at number two having the second most played song in the world like wow what a constellation prize right you beat out everybody except one song and so yeah such a huge accomplishment for post Malone and Morgan Wallin with their track i had some help being on the charts for a whopping 13 weeks and still the second most played track in the world insane so then you get into pour me a drink which has Blake Shelton of all people which probably made people realize that this was going to be a heavy country album as far as the overall appeal that he was going for so um pour me a drink has been on the charts for about seven weeks and it peaked the number 12 on the charts but now it's currently the 28th most play track in the world and keep keep in mind all these tracks are going to go up because of the album post malone is going to put out a put up some of the biggest first week numbers that we've
Starting point is 00:13:23 seen in 2024 when it comes to post malone and his status and the music industry it's not too many that can compete with him let alone quality wise because not too many can compete with him on that aspect but analytically post malone is going to put up numbers that i'm not going to say we haven't seen before because m&m technically just dropped and uh let me see what did m&m do who's it called the death of slim shady yeah first week what did he do so m&L with the death of slim shady sold I want the actual number they give me like projections and stuff
Starting point is 00:14:00 actually I can just go to it let me see oh wait I can't go to it because it was released not long ago um oh okay here it is 287000 first week so
Starting point is 00:14:15 I'm not trying to be disrespectful but actually that would be kind of disrespectful I don't know if he'll sell more than M&L that's yeah I don't know because Eminem's Death of Slim Shady was a really phenomenal album and Eminem alone brings a different fan base that usually doesn't listen to hip hop that much so his fan base and his numbers is a little not a little it is very very unique so you can't really gauge what Post Malone would do off
Starting point is 00:14:44 Eminem sales so as far as the field I will say post Malone will have better first week numbers than 95% of the field I would I would guess that it would be around the 150 to 200 lane 280 is insane like how Eminem did that I mean Eminem is just one of them uh as far as his singles already being popular specifically talking about post Malone um now that doesn't translate as much so he can't just rely on his singles already being popular for his first week sales because if that's the case then um every artist would be selling well who's had a like a hit single single and that's just not how the rules work anymore for R IAA. So Post Malone's Austin album sold about, okay, so his last album that was releasing, well, his last album Austin that was released last year. Man, this man, consistent ain't he? Sold over, just over 100,000 units first week.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Yeah, 110,000 units first week, debut in number two on Billboard Top 200. I wonder who was number one. You know, I don't know who's number one. But yeah, so, yeah, looking at Eminem's numbers, I don't see F1 trillion reaching 280. I ain't going to lie to you. But I could see 150 to 200. That's what I could see, you know.
Starting point is 00:16:16 Eminem is just different. I don't even know why I looked him up. You know, sometimes you think an artist's bigger than he is, and you realize like, nah, Eminem's really bigger than everybody combined. So, yeah, I think he would still have one of the bigger releases of uh 2024 but definitely not eminem numbers so um what else so there was something oh yeah the whole country takeover so this has been a pivotal discussion and i'm not going to make this segment too long because this is like a whole it would be a whole episode in itself if i talk about the takeover of uh country
Starting point is 00:16:52 but taylor swift morgan wallin sheple row and charlie xx and billy isish technically they're not all country artists but those are the ones that have albums and the top of the time of the time of the time of top five as far as consumed in the world. Let's get to the songs, right? You have a bar song with Shibuzi. I had some help with Post Malone Morgan Wallin. Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar. Expresso with Sabrina Carpenter.
Starting point is 00:17:20 Million Dollar Baby with Tommy Richman. Good luck, babe with Chappelle Rowan. Birds of a feather with Billy Elish. Please, please, please with Sabrina Carpenter. Lose Control with Teddy Swims and Too Sweet with Hosier. and then number 11s just to include them beautiful things with benson boone so in that top 11 that i just gave you as far as the most consumed songs in the world the country are uh songs was all throughout that list amongst other pop artists so when it comes to hip-hop dominance um via the charts i'm not gonna say
Starting point is 00:17:55 it no longer exists but if the biggest song we have impacting the charts is a you already know how feel about Kendrick Lamar's track against my favorite artist. But if it takes that to be in the top three for 14 plus weeks, then we're in trouble as a genre because for the past two years, the country has been dominating to the point where one of our pivotal icons in the music industry, as far as the black community, Beyonce being considered, put out a whole country album. Shibuzzi just put out a country album. Okay, but Beyonce didn't really have the longevity that.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Shibuzi had as far as with her top tracks. So Shibuzi definitely hit the jackpot as far as switching over to the country genre first, even though he's been putting out country music. So technically what I'm trying to say is people is not consuming hip hop more than country anymore as far as the masses. People are done listening to spend the block twice like there's nowhere to park. They're tired of hearing the same killer person just for the fun of it. Like, nobody wants to hear that continuously in their eardrums.
Starting point is 00:19:04 So, um, country being frequently throughout the top 11 is not surprising currently, especially in today's age as people are getting more acclimated to higher thought. Um, well, some people. Thought provoking music is becoming more consumed as far as, um, the masses is considered. So, um, not to say hip hop doesn't have any thought provoking music, but it's really shunned upon and you're called like corny and stuff i mean just look at what will smith is going through and he's trying to promote positivity in his raps even though he just slapped the mess out of criss rock but um yeah that probably has something to do with it but um yeah so with that being said um post malone
Starting point is 00:19:43 f1 trillion country is taking over the charts and at the end of day i honestly can't wait to get to this album post malone's probably one of my favorite artists yeah probably one of my top 10 favorite artists like ever if i had to think it'd be a lot of hip-hip pop artists of course and then towards the end it'll probably be post Malone when I start to switch up to genres um so yeah with that being said click my link tree in my bio let me know one of my social medias what do you think about post Malone putting out his uh highly highly anticipated album f1 trillion and if you've listened to the album what is your favorite track
