Starting point is 00:00:00 White Iverson is back again to take the Billboard charts by storm. Now, if you haven't noticed, there's this particular artist that you may not be aware of. I know she's more of the underground space. She doesn't really have too many streams. You know, she's not really as notable as some of these other artists in the game. But there's just one artist. I don't know if you've heard of her, but her name is Taylor Swift. And, I mean, just a very humble artist in herself, you know, in respect to right.
Starting point is 00:00:27 She put out this album not too long ago That um It's projected to do at least 700,000 first week So you look up the last time actually let me just let me just let you all know Hold up When's the last time like when's The last time An artist
Starting point is 00:00:48 Sold 700,000 First week Let's just put in perspective perspective for y'all because i don't think y'all understand how big that is off a re-release it's actually insane when you count up and this is a post malone segment so we're getting back to post malone but with this album coming out soon i just got to show you what what he's up against so the only other artist since you know the album that taylor swift just put out was in see i don't think this is right it's not right
Starting point is 00:01:31 It's saying Adele in 2011, but I'm pretty sure Drake sold way more than that. And plus Taylor Swift, I know herself, sold way more than that. Yeah, when the views come out? That's beyond. That's beyond wrong. Okay. Anyways, let me just go off memory because I've been, you know, student of the game, I guess. So in my recent memory, the last time somebody even got close to that number was, I want to say,
Starting point is 00:02:02 oh, not even Kendrick. that was 300 maybe taylor swift no it was taylor swift literally taylor swift was only one to ever like get closer to 700 again and her last re-release album did like 1.6 million first week now granted everybody's like oh it's because of the bundles it's because of the bundles because if you don't know bundles were back which is why travis scott is literally selling socks sneakers shirts hoodies hats like he literally opened up a whole supermarket for his album release called utopia so bundles were back you could buy a specific clothing article. That's how you said?
Starting point is 00:02:39 You can buy merch and you would get the album with it. So Bundling is back. So a lot of these first week sales are going to be exorbitant. It's going to be like the baseball steroid error. Once again, like people are going to be putting up seven, 800, a million first week sales now that bundling is back. But Taylor Swift is probably the best to do this because if you don't know, the reason why hip-hop artists can't really bundle
Starting point is 00:03:04 the music, this is a post, this is supposed to be a post Malone talk. So forget all that. It just, um, when did I talk about that? I think it's the first time I ever talked about it. We're talking about Post Malone. So if you want to, I can break down to Travis Scott stuff later. But, uh, I don't know how I got off the rails. Oh, okay, so Post Malone's putting out a new single titled Overdrive. So this is for an anticipation for his album that's coming out on the 28th. I guess it kind of goes back into my point with Taylor Swift and Travis, because he's trying to, I would guess, a major label artist is trying to get a number one when he releases his album.
Starting point is 00:03:43 I'm just going to, you know, just throw that guess out there, you know, a hot take. A popular artist wants a number one. So when he puts out this album, he's going to be competing with not only Taylor Swift, but allegedly Travis Scott, his album, Utopia, is set to come out soon. and Travis Scott has also I mean Post Malone has already said like this is set in stone 728 so July 28th Republic came out said it post Malone came out said it overdrive is just one of the singles from the album and what was the other tracks it was chemical I think there was mourning and then overdrive so we've already had three singles leading up to the album which is a certified rollout like an actual
Starting point is 00:04:30 solid rollout. So I believe Post Malone will sell well, but that's why I brought up to bundling. Okay, so bundling, I don't think Post Malone is doing that at all. So his sales, I don't think would be able to compete with Travis and Taylor Swift. Well, if Travis puts out his album, but even if he doesn't, Taylor Swift's third week will still be able to compete with Post Malone's first week. I know y'all are going to call me crazy, but Taylor Swift is really the most popular artists when it comes to streaming sales and billboard charts because of the way that she uses bundling and that's not even an excuse because if every artist could attach a album with 30 to well 20 to 30 if everybody if every artist could attach a album sale to 20 to 30
Starting point is 00:05:22 socks they would as well but they can't so Taylor Swift is doing the bundling she's bundling like vinals and stuff like different versions of the album cover so she's going to have her sales carry over like over time like it's going to go it's not going to go from 700 first week which is like the projected number it could be higher could be lower to the third week when post malone drops what a third weekend with post malone drops uh to like a hundred thousand like it's not going to have that much of a drop off because people are going to still be buying the different covers of the vinals so i believe post malone has his work cut out for him when it comes to trying to achieve that number one album. Because let's actually, let's see, because I do want to know this fact.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Because I believe Drake, Uzi, and J. Cole, aka J. Cole, is the only artist to have every single album go number one. So maybe Post Malone doesn't even care about that. Maybe he just wants an album out to count towards his contract, right? Post Malone number of, right. So basically Post Malone and the number of, he had beer bongs in Bentley's, which was sold. Hold on. All right, post.
Starting point is 00:06:49 The reason why this is important because this is how artists like literally scheduled the whole rollout. Like he wouldn't be dropping single after single after single, huge, humongous rollout before the album just to go number two. So postman loan first week sales throughout his career, of course, has been. exorbitant like in general he hasn't put out that much music but it's still a lot when you compare them to other artists so and let me fact check this uh cross references i might add because i don't want to be throwing out no numbers that's false you know how that goes all right so post alone we have all right we have stony came out of 2016 they had the famous uh track uh what was it what was that White Iverson. I don't even know why I forgot that. And he also had congratulations. So that was a phenomenal album, quality-wise, right? That only sold 58,000 first week. Okay. Beer Bongs and Bentleys, this is when everybody was on the Post Malone Wave. Everybody realized that this guy is the next, like, whatever. So Bill Bongs and Bentleys came out in 2018. That sold $460-something,000. Then you had Hollywood's bleeding. That's the next lead.
Starting point is 00:08:11 up everybody love stony everybody love bill bongs and bentley's here we here comes hollywood's bleeding which didn't really have as much as a commercial um acclaim as far as them liking it but it's still pretty solid that sold around 489,000 first week so stony already came in number six as far as first week's sale so he already is has missed out a 12-carat toothache which when you don't know the behind the scenes you probably don't care so but I just got to break it down so you know how these artists work post balloon was on the last album last project of his deal so when you don't extend before you put out that last album it'll make you an unrestrictive free agent so why would the label that you're on let you well pump up your album just for you to have
Starting point is 00:09:03 these exorbitant amount of sales and go to another artist or another major label and get a huge bag so this didn't really sell as much because of that This sold $1,000 the first week, putting it at number two. So he's already came at number two as far as album sales. So I don't know if he actually cares about going number one. He's went number one twice. Bill Bongs and Ben Leeds in 2018 and Hollywood's bleeding in 2019. So yeah, there's a little math class for you.
Starting point is 00:09:31 I don't even know math lesson. I don't even know if you count it. I mean, some people don't care about that, but for the people who do, there you have it. That's behind the scenes. I don't know if this man cares about number one, but he has two of them already, 12-kart toothache. I don't really count that as much because this album will outsell that by a lot.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Basically, if you don't believe me, 12-kart toothache sold $12,000 first week, right? Just wait to see how much Austin sells for first week, which is his album, with label support. There's a difference between no label support because 121 is still a lot for yourself. But when you re-up, which he did,
Starting point is 00:10:09 with Republic and now he's back on the like the beginning of his contract again they're like okay we got to pump promotion to this man because we're trying to recoup on the um i forget the actual word but they give you like a front like a loan at the beginning so the same thing that drake got it was like a rumor 500 million from a universal music group but basically they give you i forget the actual term i think it's a front a loan whatever they gotta give you money and they got to recoup that back so whatever they bought your music for they got to recoup that back so now they're gonna put all the the marketing budget dollars and promotion into this album so i bet you that austin will easily outsell 12 karat toothache
Starting point is 00:10:58 and will sell way more than 121,000 but with taylor swift being when he puts out this album she'll be on her third weekend of whatever that re-release was and she already sold it's approximately to be around 700,000 he's still going to have to deal with that if she's even close if she's even 50 to 100,000 close to this album that post Malone releases i bet you that tell us was label is going to buy uh 51 or 1001,000 just to become number one because i mean she did it when drake released drake and 21 savage released her loss she literally released some type of deluxe for a re-release like who does that and uh i don't think she ended up being number one but she tried which is why drake puts out like sneak this is kind of when he put out
Starting point is 00:11:51 that fake taylor swift like oh congrats on the drop because it was rumored that drake was trying to drop an album and now you know drake every album for drake's one number one so he's definitely not putting that album he don't even want to test it so taylor swift is going to run the charts for at least another two months. So I would be surprised to see what Post Malone does if even I think he will end up putting out this album. He just he may just have to accept the fact that he won't become in number one. And a all of that is to say this is the effect of Taylor Swift dropping. So click my link to you in my bio. Let me know one of my social medias. What do you think about the new single by Post Malone overdrive? Do you think it was fire or trash? And also when it comes to first week sales, do you think that Post Malone's album, Austin, will be able to outsell Taylor Swift in her third week.
