And one of the worst weekends to drop an entire project, Post Malone has managed to take up that slot.
As not only did this man drop when Travis Scott dropped Utopia, but it's an entire project.
If I was Post Malone, not going to lie, I would have pushed you back, because I don't know if he cares about first week sales or getting a number one.
Because, granted, Post Malone is obvious.
obviously established in the hip-hop industry.
But when you go to renegotiate, of course,
as a lot of artists do with the major labels,
they go to them,
and of course the numbers are brought up.
And if you are number two,
no matter what the first week's sales are,
is always going to be used as a slight.
And you're probably wondering,
how do I know that,
never going through negotiations for myself
with a major label.
I like to compare it to sports.
You know how you could watch a player
in the playoffs and be like,
man, this is going to be tough to him.
It's going to be tough for him to renegotiate
a new contract that's even more than his current
because of his play amongst his peers.
That's the same way when it comes to hip-hop.
They compare you amongst your peers
see how you perform and how you how you
basically put up numbers against them
and then they kind of scale to how much they should pay you.
I think there's a reason that after the reported deal
of Drake getting over $500 million from Universal Music Group
to put out like 20 million albums,
which is why he's put out like three albums
and one in like two years.
I think there's a reason after he got that insurmountable amount of money
from UMG Taylor Swift is just constantly dumping on his release dates and trying to just
prove a point that she's still the big dog in the music industry.
Call me crazy, but I always think hip-hop is a contact sport and other musicians have started to
notice how to get to the bag. Just showcase that you're the best amongst the best and you would get paid
the best amongst the best.
I mean, it's very much correlated
or there's a lot of similarities
when it comes to professional sports
when you're talking about music.
So a lot of people probably don't
understand how you can come up with these numbers,
but it's a lot of different, like, industry leaks
and just websites you can look up
when it comes to first weeks
and contracts,
and obviously you can't see the contract
I mean that's illegal but you know
reports can come out about how much they made like
around a sum up
estimate I mean there's a reason why
people get estimated
to having a billion dollars
or a million, 500 million dollars
and they come out and they'd be like
oh that's not true
because
why would they say it's true when it comes to
tax season you know
that's besides a point
anyways post Malone
it's back in
again with a new album titled Austin.
It's available now on all streaming platforms.
It's 17 tracks.
A lot of tracks we've already heard before.
Not a lot, sorry.
Chemical, mourning, and overdrive was the singles for this album.
And in general, the announcement is beyond interesting.
The rollout, beyond atrocious.
I think we have to cut him some slack maybe because,
technically he's going up against Travis Scott Utopia
and if you think about that
any rollout compared to Utopia
is probably gonna fall short
so I think maybe Post tried his best
he just renegotiated a new deal
with Republic I believe I think he's under Republic
let me see because I talked about this last time
when I talked about this album but I specifically
wanted to get into a new deal
2022. I know he signed it in
22. And it's kind of just one of those things. You have to pay attention to the industry.
And that's kind of just how it comes about. So basically
Post-Belon is currently signed to Republic and Mercury Records, which are both
parented by Universal Music Group. And so yeah, he's still signed with
Republic Records. And the biggest thing with that is a lot of people thought he was
going to leave because his last album was like the last project before he got out of his
contract and they thought the reason why he didn't extend before putting out his project was because
he wanted to go with a new label which that ended up not being the case he put out the album
ended up renegotiating a new deal with republic so now he's still signed with him for another
who knows how many albums so this is the first album from that renegotiation and if you look at his
first week sales i bring this up all the time uh post malone first week sales basically major
labels don't like when you don't extend before when you don't extend before putting out your last
project under the contract so your first week sales aren't going to look the same as when you look at
post-mal on first week sales throughout his career um see oh here we go I just put it is but this is so weird
all right let me see right quick I had no okay so back to my point so basically major labels don't
like when you don't extend before putting out the last project under
your contract. So if you look at the first week sales, right? You have 2016 Stoney that sold 58,000
first week, 2018 Bureau Barks and Bentley's that sold 461,000 first week.
2019, Holly was bleeding that sold 489,000 first week. And then his last project under the contract
for a republic, which is frowned upon for some reason because, you know, they don't want to put no
promotion dollars into your last project under their contract for you to go sign somewhere else
and even have more buzz.
So basically, I'm not going to say they didn't promote it,
but they probably didn't put their best foot forward.
And it definitely showed in the numbers as how do you go from $489,000 first week
with Hollywood's bleeding, so $12,000 first week with 12-carat toothache in 2022?
I think it's a little interesting.
I don't think it's a coincidence at all.
So anyways, now that he's put out this new album, Austin,
under his new contract with Republic.
I believe that this will probably get back into the sale,
get rebound with the first week sales.
And I don't think he's going to surpass Hollywood's bleeding
that sold $489,000 first week
because that would be kind of weird
to go from $121 to like $500.
Like something would be up with that,
especially since he didn't have like a single that's like,
actually I think he had to,
no, because Hollywood bleeding had like circles, I believe.
I think that single was like running the charts for a while.
So I believe that this album, Austin by Post Malone,
would probably sell three to 400 first week.
It would probably come, no, I don't know,
it's kind of hard to tell,
but I would say it will come number two to Travis Scott Utopia
because Utopia will most likely have four to 500 first week.
Yeah, I said three to 400, but I try to go off hype
while also looking at the projections,
and the hype is beyond,
is beyond measurable for this album.
So I would say at the minimum now
that Travis Scott would probably sell 500 first week
for Utopia and Post-Balong
would probably do three to 400.
So I think Travis Scott would get a clearer number one.
Post-Malone would get a clear number two.
And then seeing that Taylor Swift's album
doesn't drop off too much,
I can see her getting number three
because best believe,
Morgan Wallet is still trying to,
run the charts with his album that he dropped like months ago so anyways um yeah i think that would be
the list as far as like first week sales and who will come in one two and three and four but the only
time would tell as it's been a while but it hasn't been too long as you know hip hop artists or
hip hop in general has been said to be having a down year but with Travis got i mean post balloon i guess is
hip-hop, I mean, he did start with White Iverson, but when I listened to the first track of Austin,
it did not sound like this man was in his hip-hop bag, but that's besides the point.
So anyways, I believe that the track, let me see, it seems like too cool to die,
seems to be like the track that a lot of people are gravitating towards.
And I feel like overall, he's definitely going to need a hit to even compete with the Travis
Utopia but if people just like all of these tracks the same I don't see him
competing for the never-one spot so anyways those are my projections I think
Travis will end up doing at least 500 first week I think posts will end up doing
three to 400 first week and then they can share the top two spots so click my
link to my bio let me know one of my social medias what do you think about post
Malone's new album Austin and also with this track specifically this track too
cool to die, do you think that there's a hit or not?
