Starting point is 00:00:00 So I'm going to start this off by saying, hopefully I'm saying the name right, because when I'm reading on my screen right now, and as you can probably see for the YouTube and Twitch viewers, it says Ray. So I'm going to call her Ray. Hopefully that's not problematic. I don't know if it's R-A-Y-E. I think that would be kind of weird if it was, but for the most part, I think I'm pronouncing the name right. So anyways, that's besides a point. She has put out her only album on DSPs called My 21st Century Blues. And I know what you're thinking right now.
Starting point is 00:00:30 What in the world are you doing to be reviewing an artist with their first trackout or her first project out on DSPs? Well, if you go to Ray's profile, let's just do this together, all right? For my audio listeners and for my video viewers. Let's just go to Ray, you know, type in Ray on whatever, wherever you get your music from. Type the artist, right? You know what I mean? 35 monthly listeners, that's on Spotify, Apple Music.
Starting point is 00:00:58 and then you start looking at some some procureur i think that's how you said that messed that up i definitely messed up that was not it that's like one of the podcasts not top tens anyways let's keep going forget y'all uh what is it 2016 2016 is when she started making music but now she's put out her full length project in 2023 now if that doesn't scream industry plant that i don't know what does because it's ray music if you go to the bottom I don't know if it's only on Spotify on other platforms, but I'm going on the Spotify app. Ray is exclusively licensed to human Ray sources.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Exclusively licensed to human race sources. Now, I don't know if you have looked up human race sources, but guess what? They have zero artists that are on the level of Ray, I believe. So let me look at them up because I've never heard of them before. If you look at Ray's profile, she looks like a humongous artist, like as far as numbers wise. So changing the rules
Starting point is 00:02:02 Yeah, this is like the first time I'm ever seeing this major label Like it started in 2017 So it hasn't been around long like UMG or Atlantic or Capitol You know, it's just a very Recent major label And the reason I'm saying that is because I'm not saying that Ray's an industry player But all I'm saying is she dropped her first project of 23
Starting point is 00:02:25 And she's at the top of new music list For all the Ray fans, I got to enlighten me because I don't know what in the world that she's done to be accredited on these on these playlist like high on the playlist like obviously she's been putting out music since 2016 and this is my first time even getting into the artist but in general wouldn't you think there'll be a lot more work put in before you put on a new music playlist for your first project ever on DSPs I don't know maybe I'm reaching maybe I'm reaching but for the most part I'm looking at human race sources And I don't see anybody that's even on a level of Ray or even to be even considered in this conversation with new music.
Starting point is 00:03:06 So do I think that Ray got it out of the mud? I do not. Apparently, I think I found it. Hold up. I think I finally found the actual definition from them. A Los Angeles-based enterprise specializing in digital distribution. So obviously she's not independent. So whenever you say industry plant, I feel like it's kind of a cop-out.
Starting point is 00:03:27 I know I'm contradicting myself, but I'm still saying that she's the industry plan for the simple fact that she's not on one of the major labels that's notable and just been around for a long time. So it's making me feel like she's that artist that they're going to push by any means necessary. And they're doing a great job of showcasing that she's one of the biggest artists in the game. Because in general, your first artist or your first project of all time, yeah, basically of all time on DSPs. Of course her fans may come be like, oh, she had this project, she had that project. but her first project on DSPs. I don't know if she deleted her past projects. And multiple of her songs is on a new music playlist.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Now you let me know what that sounds like. So anyways, that's all I wanted to talk about. I'm again to Ray again when I talk about specific tracks that are on the new music playlist because I want to deep dive into if she's an industry plant or not. So click my link to my bio. Let me know one of my social media is, what do you think about Ray the artist?
Starting point is 00:04:23 Have you heard of Ray the artist? And will you be checking out her latest? her latest single titled My 21st Century Blues.
