Starting point is 00:00:00 No pun intended, but as Rod Darry's Wave fans, we are eating good as nostalgia the album is set to be released September 15th. Now, ladies and gentlemen, that is two weeks from now. Safe to say, Drake is either going to have to come before this album or we may never get for all the dogs. I'm not saying that Rod Wave is on the same level as Drake. I'm just saying, if we're talking about first week sales, it's definitely going to be a competition between Rod Wave and Drake. If you haven't seen the way this man Rod has been touring and putting seats in arenas as a tour,
Starting point is 00:00:48 that's not common. Drake's doing it. Beyonce's doing it. Taylor Swift's doing it. you see the names i'm naming a little baby he made the news for not doing it so it's not as easy as a lot of people think and rod darius wave has one of the biggest fan bases and music so i'm not saying of course if rod and drake dropped the same week that rod's going to out sell them but as far as marketing Drake wants a rollout for his album and if everybody's focusing on rod wave instead of
Starting point is 00:01:25 of Drake, I don't know how that will fare in the limelight because the way I see it, personally, Drake is going to put out an entire R&B album. I feel like he's just going to sing for the entire album. I know it's not a popular opinion, but the way that he's been marketing with the nails, the face masks, doing an interview with Bobby, the Bad Bunny and Nikki being on the album, like you think he's going to be rapping rapping with a bad bunny feature or a nicky i mean he may do it with nicky but
Starting point is 00:01:59 if you listen to nicky's latest single you could probably understand that it's not out of the norm for them to switch it up and going to complete pop rnb lane so anyways that's how i feel about for all the dogs but the reason i am highlighting this is because rod wave i felt like is the best i want to say rnb musician because there's a lot of
Starting point is 00:02:23 of them out there that i really feel like is strictly r and b for rod he kind of goes back and forth between spitting a hard a to wait but singing over it or he will have a a three-minute interlude and then give us like 40 seconds of bars like i don't know what it is by rod wave and and letting the beat like let the beat build is rod wave specialty like that's his go-to like if you was to go to to a rod wave album best believe you're not hearing rod wave until 40 seconds to a minute in because i don't know what it is but this man lets the beat build until it's done building i'm like you can come in whenever you want brother like you ain't got to take that long but anyways that's besides a point rod wave is putting out a new album nostalgia september 15th but of course he has a single out
Starting point is 00:03:11 a new single out after his last one and i have to be objective because i am a rod wave fan as you could probably tell comparing him to Drake but um his last single not this one right here but his last single which was was it fight the feeling i don't know if it was fight the feeling i figure it was called oh it's i'm tripp it's right here i can't read my fault it was called uh call your friends that came out august 18th right that track flop i'm not going to lie to you it flop i'm used to rod wave singles coming out being in and being in the top 10 like it's up and it stuck that it's not even in top 50 i don't see it at all you all have to go look at the charts and let me know but as far as from what i can tell that's a flop rod wave the what i'm used to the rod wave that i'm used to
Starting point is 00:04:05 would have that track in the top 10 easily as a single for an album like come on now so after that flopping well i don't know if it's been a uh three or four weeks after that flopping let me see So that came out on the 18th, right? So it's been one, two. It's been two full weeks for Rod Wave to accept that that track was a flop to put out another single for his album and the album release date. But he does have a new single out titled Come See Me. Now, of course, this man is still under Alamo Records slash Sony Music Entertainment. So I don't feel like the marketing budget is the issue.
Starting point is 00:04:44 I think when you go on tour as a musician, this is not going to be a long take, but I have to get this out because I don't think a lot of people understand that when an artist is on tour, making music and putting out and marketing music is extremely difficult. It's the reason why back in the day, the release cycle for old hip-hop artist was, it was a year of making music,
Starting point is 00:05:12 three months for the rollout, six months for the whole, going on tour and then after that you think of another album so what's that like almost two years so basically it's like a two year from making the album putting out the album uh marketing the album going on tour like that's a whole two year process nowadays the microwave effect of listening to music with the you know the invention of the apple iPhone music is being consumed at an all-time high so music is being put out more by popular artists at an all-time high and these type of rollouts are not being as far as the guidelines aren't being obeyed so now we get to the point
Starting point is 00:06:02 where our artist is on tour trying to put out music but back in the day that wasn't the case but I feel like rod wave this hurts me to say angle I'm a huge Broadway fan I feel like he's suffering from the the work of touring getting off tour and putting out music like that whole time in between I feel like he could have used that to recoup because now he's addressing very serious topics right and that's what I'm gonna leave it at you know he's a very he's addressing very serious topics obviously he's a rapper slash R&B artist but I feel like you need more time to to craft a track that's going to address those issues and also be replayable, if that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Or you're going to get into the Kendrick-esque lane, not saying it's Kendrick level music, just saying the Kendrick-esque where you're going to have high quality and not as much replay value. And the reason I say that is because, you know, everybody knows. Nobody's going to the club like, hey, put that Kendrick on. It's just not going to happen. there's certain Rydwave songs that does come on in the parties, the clubs, to the point
Starting point is 00:07:22 where I feel like Roud Wave hit the sweet spot of replayable music while also having that high quality bar. And obviously, I don't know, for some people that may go over their heads, but for the most part, that's what I think when it comes to Radove. Like, he addresses very serious mental health issues and things of that nature and also makes his tracks like a sing-along. If you don't feel like, like going to a Rod Wave concert has to be like going to church.
Starting point is 00:07:49 Like if you're not singing along to every word, somebody going to look at you funny. Like, hey, bro, ain't no way you're not singing along and still coming. Like, you came here not to sing. Like, come on now. So anyways, I think this track's mediocre. Not going to lie. Come see me. I feel like it's mediocre.
Starting point is 00:08:07 The track, the single before that, call your friends. I thought that was solid. Like when I reviewed that, if you look it up, call your friends, Notorious. Mass Effect. I said it was more of the same and that's how I still feel about it. I listen to it. I'm like it's just same old Broadway, which is not bad. Like his same is better than most of these other artists. But come see me is definitely a step in the wrong direction. You know, so hopefully he figures that out because September 15th is soon. That tells me the album is basically done. So we're going to see how it goes. But with Drake putting out his album, expect his album to come out
Starting point is 00:08:43 and at least probably what's the date yeah i can stamp this i feel like drake's album gonna come out next next friday it has to either it's gonna come out next friday or it's not gonna come out for a while because he's he already dodged taylor swift he nobody wants to admit it but he dodged burner boy that released like a week or two ago and not there's no way that he ain't gonna dodge raw wave like come on now so um yeah I would say Drake's gonna put his album September 8th. And if he doesn't, I could see it being pushed back to like after he gets off tour.
Starting point is 00:09:25 But yeah, that's all really have to say about the Rod Wave track. So come see me is out now in all DSPs. And the biggest news by far is his album, nostalgia, is coming out September 15th. So anyways, click my link to you in my bio. Let me know on one of my social medias. what do you think about Rod Wade putting out a new album, September 15th? And what do you think about his current track titled Come See Me?
Starting point is 00:09:50 And we'll, well, after you give it a listen, because you got to listen. Do you think is fire or trash?
