Starting point is 00:00:04 Talk about capitalizing off of something that nobody saw coming. Because obviously, when it comes to chart topic music, Bruno Mars is no slouch. And this year is no different. As the seventh most played track in the world is Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga with third track titled Die with a Smile that came out 15 weeks ago and basically peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. And then to my surprise, to everybody's surprise, Bruno Mars had another one with Rosie from Black Pink.
Starting point is 00:00:42 And that's who we're getting into today for this segment. As she dropped an entire album based off the success of APT, which is Rosie and Bruno Mars. Now, I'm not going to say specifically there was nothing created to or before this. And that APT track was more of a rollout. I'm just saying that the actual track to capitalize off of this successful single is 36 minutes long, but it is 12 tracks. But in all intents and purposes, it's 36 minutes long.
Starting point is 00:01:14 So it's not the longest project, but does that matter if it's high quality? I guess we have to wait and see because when it comes to APT, it was very successful. And being from K-pop and Bruno Mars being so musically inclined to be able to just mesh into anybody's world. I mean, he's done it with Anderson Pack with Silk Sonic. He did it with Lady Gaga with Die with a Smile. And now he's done it again with APT with a K-pop musician. And not only a K-pop musician, but Rosie from Black Pink, which if you follow the podcast, you already know, I've covered K-pop extensively. And Black Pink, along with New Jeans, is one of the girl groups who is really impacting the masses when it comes to the chart.
Starting point is 00:02:01 toppers over there because they do their thing. I'm not going to lie to you. They really bring it when it comes to choreography and music, which is what I think they're the best at when you look at the entire field. I don't know why, but I just feel like they put a lot more effort into choreography when it comes to music videos. You know, it reminds me of old school R&B, like the, the Nios, the Chris Brown. Well, Chris Brown's still doing it.
Starting point is 00:02:26 So just imagine that, but like every K-pop musician puts that amount of effort into the music videos. So anyways, APT had a lot of success on the charts, right? It became the first track for both artists, Bruno and Rosie, to attain simultaneous major Korean music charts and also reached number one on the circle digital charts because there's other litmus scales to judge how popular music is in Korea, right? So in the U.S., it entered the top 10 on Billboard Hot 100, peaked at number 8, but then peaked again at number 2, and it made it the first song by a K-pop female soloist to achieve such positions on these charts. So like I said, a monumental accomplishment followed up by what's set to be a very phenomenal album as far as the self-titled album, Rosie that just came out today, right, on all DSPs for you to listen to. It's only 36 minutes, so it's not the longest listen, so you'll probably be able to get
Starting point is 00:03:37 through it and it won't take up too much your time. But capitalizing off of this and now being signed under the black label and Atlantic Records, it's only up from here because the marketing machine, as far as Atlantic being ran by the most powerful man in the industry's son. as far as Elliot Grange, because if you don't know, he runs Atlantic right now, basically kicked everybody out. And now he runs it, right? Him and his dad run two of the most powerful music labels in the world. So, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:04:10 Let's not call it a monopoly, right? It's not a monopoly. It's just a, I don't know what it is. But anyways, so Rosie's under Atlantic right now. And basically, she's going to be getting a lot of push with her album. And you're going to be seeing it in a lot of different places because, essentially a lot of the overseas musicians need U.S. major labels for the simple fact that playlisting, radio play, there's a lot of things going on behind the scenes that's only
Starting point is 00:04:41 possible if you're under a certain team because now, because they get a piece of the pie, they're going to open up certain doors as far as marketing strategies for you. I know you probably hear the whole, oh, get, go independent, you could do it yourself, mantra look at the Drake lawsuit versus UMG and you realize there's certain smoking mirrors being played at the highest level by people with millions of dollars to just burn right oh we threw 500,000 for this artist promotion but it didn't work on to the next one who do you know in real life that could throw that that amount of money and be okay with it not coming to fruition as far as r oh why right so um Rosie is definitely going to get a lot of different, um,
Starting point is 00:05:30 acknowledgments for the APT track with Bruno Mars respectively. But as far as this self-titled album, we, we have to wait to see how it fares with her fan base because the overall album talks about toxic relationships, which is, you know, definitely relatable to a lot of people. Let's just say that.
Starting point is 00:05:51 And Rosie's growth as a songwriter, uh, it's said to be shown throughout this entire album and of course she has a lot of global playlisting and things in the nature and uh with this album i did want to talk about the specific track that i think this album is capitalizing off of with apt as it won eight first place awards on south korean music programs and secured three weekly melon popularity awards which is once again the litmus scales for uh career artists and then uh with YG Entertainment that is famous for, you know, cultivating and finding the hottest K-pop musicians
Starting point is 00:06:33 and giving them a platform. Basically, Rosie was under that. And the success of APT was under YG Entertainment as well. Because, of course, overseas artists have their label. And then when you come to U.S., you get into a partnership with Atlantic Records or Universal if you're big enough. So just so they could promote you in the States. entertainment is more for like Korea, Korea and other countries overseas, right?
Starting point is 00:07:02 So with that being said, that's basically it. Rosie, congratulations for having one of the most successful singles that I've seen in 2024, especially from a K-pop musician. And with that being said, click my link to my bio, let me know on one of my social medias. What do you think about Rosie and Bruno Mars' track, APT, and will you be checking out Rosie's self-titled album? well rosy self-title album rosy on all dsps right now
