Analytic Dreamz: Notorious Mass Effect - "RUSS - NASTY"

Episode Date: March 17, 2023

https://linktr.ee/AnalyticRuss dropped his new single, “Nasty,” and it is an ode to exactly what the title suggests. Each verse details explicit sexual lines, as he notes that he wants to take a g...irl out of town.“I’m cravin’ it everyday / Don’t need to wait for the weekend for you to call out my name / Baby, we could do this often (Often) / If those pants are botherin’ you, take them off then,” he sings in the second verse. As for the production, which Russ also handled, the beat propels the track forward — dropping out for just a moment after the chorus before returning again.source: Russ Proves He Isn't Afraid To Get 'Nasty' On His New Self-Produced Song (uproxx.com)Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Starting point is 00:00:00 For those that don't know, Russ tried his hardest to get Onika Tanya Mirage on this track. But for some reason, Nikki Minaj did not eventually give a feature to this track called Nasty. Now, of course, this is a self-produced track from one, the only Russ, that will remind you every second he gets to, or every second, every time he has the chance, he will remind you that he produces all his music. So yeah, he's back again with his own production and his own rapping and just everything all in one with this track called Nasty. And I believe that Russ has a track called Best on Earth featuring Bia. And that track is just phenomenal. Really one of my favorite tracks, I think it came out in 2020, maybe 2021, but it was one of my favorite tracks of that year. and for him not to
Starting point is 00:01:00 I think honestly he tried and this is like a crazy assumption and a crazy like thought I'm about to put out there and I may be totally 100% wrong but I feel like when Russ made best on earth he reached out to Rihanna to get her on the track right
Starting point is 00:01:22 and of course Rihanna was probably busy doing whatever you know billionaires do and so she told him no and so he got Bia because I feel like Russ wrote that whole track for Rihanna
Starting point is 00:01:38 because Bia on the track sounds I'm not going to say exactly because I don't want to disrespect Bia because she's a phenomenal artist in her own right I mean I think I think last year
Starting point is 00:01:51 she dropped the track called London with J. Cole and that was literally one of my favorite tracks of that year for so long and she was rapping in her own style but i will say that bea sounded exactly like rihanna on best on earth with russ so if russ would have got rihanna to be on that track and then if you would have put off having niki menage on nasty i think he would have had a great back-to-back hit with women artists but in
Starting point is 00:02:19 general i do feel like because russ is such an independent artist i think to have an artist give him a favor is more of a reach because he doesn't really bring as much to the table than a major label artist can bring. Like if a major label artist wants a highly decorated artist to feature one of the up-and-coming artists, granted, granted, he's cemented in a game, I feel like they will get to the point where the major label will have to pull some strings behind the scenes to get the up-and-coming, the notable artist some different looks from magazines
Starting point is 00:03:01 covers from different outlets before they give them the verse for the up and coming artists hopefully that makes sense I'm not trying to make this complicated but it's always a game in the music industry and nobody just gives out features for free
Starting point is 00:03:16 it's either you're on a major label where your ANR or the person over you they're really cool with or maybe you have a cosign from a certain person, it's really the management that gets the deal done most of the time rather than the artist. Because if you speak to one of the artists, they'll tell you that whenever they're doing the track, usually it comes through pro tools and they just put their feature on there.
Starting point is 00:03:40 Like, how does it happen? Their management is probably reaching out to those artists that they want on their album, but they have to reach out to them, go through their management. It's like a whole process. So as an independent artist, I don't know if Russ is willing to go through that, that grueling process of just speaking to so many different people to eventually speak to the person you want to to get their feature, which, or hence, why Russ literally just went to Twitter, he was like, hey, wouldn't it be nice to have Nikki on this track? And guess what? That's not going to get it done. So that's why I think the whole independent route is very appealing for some people. But if you don't want to deal with all that extracurricular activities, I think being on a major label will benefit
Starting point is 00:04:25 80% of artists that make music. But besides that, the nasty track, well, the track titled nasty is fire, very quality driven. Russ is one of those type of artists where you can listen to it time and time again to still pick things out of his verse. He's very much a lyricist, and to this day, I think he's one of the best rappers that I've heard, and that's not a joke. I'm being so serious.
Starting point is 00:04:50 I just think it's funny how he always goes around saying he produced the track. I mean, he might as well just say he made the mic. He built the studio that he made the track in at this point the way that Russ be talking about his production and the way he does everything himself You would think he was literally Russell Restbrook and not Russ the way he just be talking about how he impacts the game So anyways uh click my link tree in my bio let me know one of my social medias what do you think about Russ? And his latest track called nasty and do you think if Russ was under a major label he would have been able to get niki menage on this track Thank you.
