Starting point is 00:00:00 For those of y'all who don't know, Russ is completely independent. And why is that important? Because of the rest of the details I'm about to get into. He just released a new album called Santiago. And it's been the first time he released an entire body of work since 2021. I know it's not the biggest gap in the world. But of course, with the artists like Russ putting out music with what it felt like on a weekly basis at one point, this hiatus from 2021 to 2023 was probably felt more than any of the other hiatus than he went on because he usually draws some music every year
Starting point is 00:00:39 um he came out with this man has been put out albums for a minute 2012 Apollo Apollo 13 uh vacation so two albums in the same year then he put out straight from limbo in 2013 the edge velvet 52 AD colorblind. So that's one, two, three, four, five albums in 2013. Put out three albums in 2014. And then we got to the classic. There's really a wolf. That was the one that I felt like
Starting point is 00:01:14 was just the best album he's ever made, 2017. Then you had Zoo in 2018, which I would admit, as a Russ fan, I felt like that was a step back. Then we had a two-year hiatus with Shake the Globe. I thought that was pretty solid. I don't think it was like his best worker. anything like that, but I definitely thought it was a solid body of work, and especially, especially one of my favorite tracks of all time, titled Best on Earth with Russ and Bea.
Starting point is 00:01:41 That track stands out for me to this day. Then, yeah, Shake the Snow Globe Deluxe Edition, which that came out in May 19th, 2020. Then you had CHOPP 2, which is just him straight given bars and that came out December 8th uh 2021 and then you had and then you have Santiago 2023 August 18th now I say how that to say this this man is a completely independent artist as you look under credits it says demon which if you don't know that's the last name of Russ I don't know how to pronounce that maybe I'm saying that right wrong or diamond or D I don't know so Russ is real name right right Russ, real name.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Sorry one. Yeah. Russell James Vettel. That's crazy. I typed in Russ. It kind of brought out Westbrook. Could have brought up Wilson. Russ must be out here popping.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Not just plain. Let me chill. So speaking of popping, he was one of the first rappers, well, the only rapper to ever perform at the Pyramas of Giza. As a lot of people don't know that fact, because Travis Scott tried to perform there, as y'all probably already know. And he ultimately got denied because at the end of the day,
Starting point is 00:02:56 you need a permit to travel at those uh to perform at those type of places and guess what he did not he just announced he was going to perform there and like travis scott always does just not really thinking through his whole performance and how he was actually going to get there so at the end of the day rust still remains the only hip-hop artist to perform at the pyramids of giza but more specifically we're getting into the track no more so the reason why i want to talk about this is because that is the track that he ended up posting to DSPs for playlisting. And the reason why that's important is because DSP playlisting is new music, which people go to because they don't have time to sift through all the new releases
Starting point is 00:03:41 and see who drops. So they go to one playlist, play from that, and they listen to whatever new music just dropped. And now that this is on there, there's a chance that he could get more streams and maybe even acquire more fans from that playlisting, which is one of the most. popular places that seems in the world from Spotify. So that's why I started the segment off with him, with talking about him being an independent artist because that's very,
Starting point is 00:04:06 very important. A lot of people may bring up sales when talking about Russ, but whenever you're an independent artist, I feel like the sales isn't a strong enough point to say somebody doesn't have fans. I think touring, touring, which is what I was talking about with Russ, and his overall supportive fan base,
Starting point is 00:04:26 time and time again when he comes out on tour showcases his fans fan his fan base dedication to go on out and purchasing a ticket to see him live which is a whole another level of dedication so anyways
Starting point is 00:04:42 click my link to my bio let me know one of my social media is Russ one of the more or is Russ the most popular independent artists in the game and why Thank you.
