It is time to put respect on our legends in hip hop because of course with Kendrick unbeknownst to him probably or maybe he knew exactly what he was doing.
But Ice Cube dropped his album, Man Down, and of course on that same date, Kendrick Surprise dropped GNX.
Now, of course, the two may not correlate until you listen to it.
the whacked out murals and he literally talks about how old heads are hating with old flows
and you still claim to be their favorites right so that may seem like a wild correlation but the
truth is in hip-hop we disrespect our ghosts left and right i think snoop dog and bianthe is probably
the most well-respected black musicians in the community right
I can't think of anybody else who's more respected.
Maybe LL, maybe ludicrous,
but as far as the top of the top,
cream of the crop,
I would say Snoop Dog and Beyonce,
has the best,
or they have,
the best public perception
when it comes to their entire career.
So,
that being said,
not only did I shine a light on Ice Cube's album,
Man Down,
which you can look up now
on all podcast platforms.
Just look up Ice Cube
analytic dreams and it should pop up.
So not only did I shine light on that OG, that legend in the game, as far as his album, Man Down,
but I'm also here to shine the light on Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre's latest album titled Missionary.
That's out now on all DSPs, 46 minutes in length, 16 tracks under Death Row slash Aftermath slash Anoscope Records.
So of course, you know, Snoop Dogg owns Death Row.
leave at this point in time yeah let me see because i believe i believe snoop dog owns death row
because he bought it from sugar night okay so basically in the beginning he was a part of death
row records of course uh through the 1992 collaboration and guest appearances of dr dr dr drs
deep cover right and his debut album doggy style 1993 but i was wanting more of the update okay here we go in
february 22 snoop dog acquired death row records from mn rk music group i don't know what that is but he
acquired death row records from them and of course this was a monumental move because it gave
ownership to the late it gave ownership
to an artist who was once under that label,
which is a very boss move, if I do say so myself.
One of the biggest boss moves in life is to evolve to the point where now you have
the capacity to purchase that label and now you run it.
That's the ultimate evolution in life as far as just getting to the next level,
the next level, garnering all the infinity stones to the point where the label that you
started under you now own it so anyways very huge accomplishment that i don't think is highlighted enough
so missionary an album by snoop dog is out now in all dsps with dr dr dr dr dr drr of course a lot of
notable features on this album i mean we have janea echo we have 50 cent and m&m on the same track
that track has to go crazy it's called it's literally titled guns and smoke so i'm a
already going to say that's probably going to be a classic track in the sense that 50 cent em and them
coming together for a snoop dog and dr dr dr dry album i mean you already know that they are putting
forth the most effort that you could ever accumulate for one track safe to say that they put their
best foot for it so um another thing i was wanted to say as far as the album is that gorgeous by janea
Iaco came out before the album, right?
And it peaked at number 26 on Billboard's R&B and hip-hop airplay charts.
Now, as far as hip-hop, oh no, as far as Billboard Hot 100, I'm not going to lie to you.
I don't have the highest expectations for how much this album is going to sell.
But that is okay because like I always say, just because you don't sell a lot does not mean that you didn't make high quality.
And just because you do sell a lot doesn't mean that you made high quality.
The two do not correlate.
You can make high quality and sell a lot
and you can make high quality and not sell at all, right?
Sometimes people get that confused
because of course this is notorious mass effect.
So I'll talk about the things that impact the masses
as far as the gaming and the music industry.
But Snoop Dog is such a legend
that I'm covering him regardless,
just like I did with Ice Cube.
So with that being said,
there's other samples throughout this album.
One of, well, two of them in particular,
titled Another Part of Me, which incorporates the police's message in a bottle,
Sticky Situation, which uses Suzanne Vega's Tom's Diner.
And then, of course, when it comes to Dr. Dre, I mean, he's all over the album.
And he's basically crafting an entire G-Funk sound with modern and cross-genre influences.
So when it comes to the different lanes, the different ways they can attack a track,
obviously Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre
Been around long enough to be able to diversify
the entire album.
So it's not a track that all sound.
It's not an album with every track sounding the same.
Obviously, they're going to touch different elements,
especially with this album featuring piano hooks, brass sections,
acoustic guitar, you know, things of that nature.
I mean, it's Dr. Dre.
I mean, what else can we say besides he's one of the greatest hip-hop producers
of all time, if not the greatest?
I think Kanye definitely has something to say about the greatest hip-hop producer conversation.
But, you know, Dr. Dre is definitely up there.
With the Guns and Smoke song featuring Eminem and 50 Cent,
I think that has the highest possibility to have longevity on the charts.
Because if you don't know, they all go way back as far as the Dr. Dre influence on Eminem,
Eminem's influence on 50 Cent.
And of course, Snoop Dog was all throughout just the NWA error.
Because if you don't know, I mean, as far as Snoop Dog and Dock,
Dr. Dre. I remember L.L. Koojee basically saying like a week or two ago that he's the most
important rapper to ever live, which seems very egotistical and narcissistic, right?
Until you realize what L.L. Koojay has accomplished. Then you realize, you know what? You got it,
my brother. All them accomplishment is like if LeBron came out, I was like, you know what?
I think I have the best longevity ever in hip hop.
I'm in the NBA.
Guess what people are going to tell LeBron?
They're going to look at his resume.
They're going to look at LeBron.
They're going to be like, you know what?
You do have the best longevity in NBA.
That's kind of where L.L. Cool J was laying out.
I mean, he was laying out fact after fact.
He was like, I started this, restarted Jay-Z.
I started this or started country rap.
I started this, the first independent popular rapper.
Like he was really going across all the accolades and accomplishments.
And I always bring up Will Smith as far as being the first rapper to ever get a Grammy.
And I would be very interested to hear what L.O. Cool J's stance is on that as far as Will Smith.
Obviously, I'm not calling Will Smith the most important rapper before y'all kill me.
I'm not saying that.
I'm just saying as far as Will Smith getting that accomplishment first before L.O. Cool J.
I wonder how he feels about that.
That's it.
You know, I'm just being a little messy.
So anyways, back to Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog.
So being very pivotal in the genre of hip hop is an understatement.
Dr. Dre and his role in NWA, which has a classic movie NWA,
the character that plays Ice Cube is his son and he kills the rogue.
Now, I don't know about y'all, but sometimes you get that one offspring that, you know,
they say the apple the apple don't fall too far from the tree sometimes the apple falls all the way down
the road down another hill and ends up in a never-ending tunnel all away from the tree well far away
from the tree right ice cube son is like the epitome of ice cube in the sense that he killed his role
and he carved out a lane for himself in the acting lane he didn't try to become well i don't think
he tried to become a rapper like ice cube but he carved out his own lane and he carved out his own lane
which is why I'm even highlighting that
because not only was NWA
which you know the movie straight out of Compton
not only was it a classic
but his son played him as far as Ice Cube
and he was phenomenal in a row
to the point where he got other spinoffs
as far as the den of I'm not going to go on too much of a tangent
but I have to say this last part
his other movie Den of Thieves
he was the standout in that movie I don't even think
I don't think he was the star I think he was like
like the supporting actor, but he did so well in his role, then now, Den of Thieves 2 is coming
out and guess who starring?
Him and the other guy from like 300.
I forget his name.
I'm not trying to be disrespectful.
I just forgot.
But, so yeah, basically his son is phenomenal and the movie straight out of Compton is phenomenal.
I don't think y'all need me to tell you that, right?
So also, when it comes to Dr. Dre's influence are not only Snoop Dog, not only Eminem, which
M&L ended up mentoring 50 cents.
So Dr. Drew was at the beginning of that.
Not only motivating and mentoring Kendrick Lamar to the point where Game was the rapper
of The Game, right?
The game made a whole album and was crying, not crying.
You know, that's a little disrespectful.
But basically, he was just pointing out how Dr. Dre didn't really put his hand on him
and mentor him like he did, Kendrick, right?
People really seek that approval and mentorship from Dr. Dre.
And the game didn't receive that to the point where he made a bunch of tracks,
a bunch of projects after he went at Dr. Dre's partner to where now Dr. Dre got a separate.
Okay, so the original timeline, because I don't want to confuse all,
is that the game did receive Dr. Dre beats at one point.
the game went at one of Dr. Dre's main managers or label owner or something like that to the point where Dr. Dre had a separate, had to distance himself from the game.
So now that that distance has been established, the game is forever talking about how Dr. Drake could have mentored him better like he mentored Kendrick.
So the reason why I even bring that up is because of him mentoring the likes of a Snoop Dog and M&M.
and the NWA as far as Ice Cube, EZE, and all the other rappers in NWA,
just really being receptive to the feedback that Dr. Dre gave.
He's really impactful on a whole other level when it comes to hip-hop.
To the point where Dr. Dre has won multiple Grammys,
y'all already know that,
and he was a part of the Super Bowl halftime show,
which had Dr. Dre, M&L, 50 Cent,
Kendrick and Mary
Jay Blige and I forget who else
maybe I think it was Snoop Dog as well
I'm tripping but I think I forget if there's Snoop Dog
in there but um so yeah
so Dr. Dre has been very influential
I mean over 30 years of just being
an icon in an industry
it's not it's not too many
artists that I would give higher praise
than a Dr. Dre as far as
their impact on hip hop
two of them are going through a lot
of things right now so
I'm not going to say those names but y'all
probably already know who I'm talking about, but there's a lot of icons and hip hop.
There's not a lot of icons and hip hop that I would give higher praise than a Dr. Dre.
So with over 30 years plus in the industry, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre is back again after putting
out the chronic, after putting out doggy style, after just having so immense culture equity
built up, they're back again with their album missionary.
and you already know that not only is their core or their core fan base going to check out their album,
but of course the fans in the future, well, the future fans that are getting,
it's hard to say they're getting like accustomed to Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre music,
but let's just say this may be the first Dr. Drew Snoop Dog album if they're younger, right?
So they're just now experiencing what a Dr. Drew Snoop Dog album sounds like.
And from the looks of it, it seems like they pulled all the stops as far as giving them another fantastic offering from Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre, which is under death row records that Snoop Dog now owns, which when he started, he was under that label.
So with that being said, click my link to your in my bio.
Let me know on one of my social medias.
