Shepard, promise me you'll tell them to subscribe for any free content.
You know, over here at notorious Mass Effect, covering the gaming and music IPs that notoriously affect the masses.
Safe to say, you already know that I had to be in theaters in person whenever the Super Mario Galaxy movie came out.
Shepard, just look at the state of gaming.
Like, what is going on?
Well, we're not necessarily getting into the state of gaming, but of course, when it comes to the state of the,
movie of Super Mario Galaxy a lot of people are very conflicted and of course when I say
conflicted let's just say analytic dreams video on Spotify to see the video along with
the audio because these are the current writing tomato scores for Super Mario Galaxy
right now now when you look at the critics is a 42% as far as writing tomato the
tomato meter and then when you look at the consumers you know the people who are not
critics more of uh i don't know how they separated but basically the rest of the audience gave it a 90
now the truth to me personally lies in the middle because my personal review is i believe the
movie is very solid but of course as you can see right here the actual score of 90 percent i do
believe is a little exaggerated i don't think it's the greatest thing ever but i also do not believe
the the critics saying it's a 40 percent that
That is 42%.
So that is why I wanted to get into my personal opinion
because I saw this movie as soon as it came out.
I didn't even know it was possible to watch a movie at 1201 a.m.
But guess what?
That is where my love lies, not only for Mario, but for the video game industry.
And my work in theory is that Mario Galaxy is sort of like Crimson Desert
in the video game landscape as far as consumers versus critics.
Because now such a successful.
product being very divisive when you come to critics and consumers.
But the numbers showcase that a lot of people are going to watch that specific product
compared to other products in that same field.
And the reason why I'm comparing Crimson Desert to Mario Galaxy is because of that
divide between critics and consumers very heavily, mind you, and the success outside of the
review scores. It's going to be successful whether the critics like it or not. And that's why I
compare it to Crimson Desert because Mario Galaxy very negatively reviewed by the critics,
but perform it to the point where it was the biggest opening ever. Because now, when you look
at the sequel, as far as ticket sales, they have said, I'm trying to get the actual sales. So
the first movie already opened up. It was one of the biggest ever, as far as the Mario movie
that came out 2023.
But when you look at the opening performance day one for this particular movie as far as
the Galaxy movie, it had an opening day of $34 million.
And of course, when connoisseurs of movies look at a video game movie, just completely
outshining movies that they think is really a part of the culture, I think that's
where the hate starts to simmer and starts to become something that they can't even
hold back for this movie.
Because, of course, when they look at the video game consumers, they think, oh, y'all can't
have real quality movie level material until you realize you're we are the only reason that people
are really flocking towards the movie theaters right now if you really want to have a honest conversation
about where the state of movie theaters lie so anyways i said that for a reason because when you look
at the video game landscape mario is always killing it but more specifically when you look at mario
carwerell being the fourth most play game on nintendo when you look at mario tennis fever being the
fifth most play game on nintendo when you look at mario car 8 the lux being the 19th most play
game on nintendo super mario party jamboree then the nintendo switch 2 edition being the 21st most play
game on nintendo of course you have super mario party jamboree the switch 1 edition being the 23rd
most play game on nintendo out of the top 25 you already have five installments of a mario game
and the top is mario cart world currently that's the switch 2 edition so which is the only addition but
basically Mario notoriously affects the video game industry.
So to do that same thing in the movie landscape as the first movie in 2023 was the biggest
global opening weekend ever for an animated film, beating out Frozen 2, 358 million.
Frozen 2 did 358 million.
The Super Mario Bros movie in 2023 did 377 million.
So now it continued into being the biggest video game adaptation opening ever.
So I think critics looked at that and said,
does our opinion not matter?
And guess what?
It doesn't.
Shepard, just look at the state of gaming.
Like, what is going on?
I think the critics trying to reign on video game consumers parade is very interesting.
As when you look at the overall landscape of movie theaters in general,
y'all should be thanking us that we're flock into the movie theaters
and boosting the economy that you cover.
video games is already very um it is very lucrative movie theaters specifically on the other hand
is not you guys so when i point that out i want you to keep that in mind next time you think to
yourself why are they hating on a video game movie so harshly it's because we're the only reason
people even go to the movie theaters right now so anyways with that being said you know this is not
war against you know movie critiques and reviewers but i just want to let you know when you come over here
in video game land it's not the same we're not a dying breed we're not a dying art we have people
we have a plethora of options as far as people showing up in droves to play our different products
that we have to offer i can't say the same about the movie theaters industry so anyways
When it comes to Mario Galaxy, along with having a huge opening day, along with having the number one opening day in the year of 2026, the last was Project Hell Mary that had $33 million.
So just, you know, closely beat that out with $34.5 million as far as the galaxy movie.
And of course, when you look at it being higher than the Super Mario Bros. movie that opened to $31.7 million, you come to realize that Galaxy may also become the biggest deal.
video game adaptation ever because you already know if the original movie does well to the masses
the sequel is probably eight times at a time going to perform better so that's the current situation
that we're in now i'm going to get into my personal review in a second because of course i want to
give a spoiler review but i do want to give a non-spoiler review which is why at the very beginning
i said that i enjoyed the movie because getting into my in-depth coverage is going to have a lot
of spoilers intel so right now we're just getting into the non-spoiler territory so you can
watch the first half of this and then the second half and I'll get into you know in-depth spoilers so
when you look at the different markets uh Mexico Mexico has 6.7 million the biggest universal
opening ever in that market. Uh, UK and Ireland have 4.3 million the second highest animated
preview ever. Germany had 3.8 million the biggest animated opening of all time. Safe to say
Mario's out here killing it. Spain had 3.1 million the second biggest animated opening ever and
of course you have France.
2.9 million making it the second biggest illumination opening ever. Safe to say once again,
Mario is bigger than ever, not only in video games, but also in the movie industry. So of course,
when looking at the global opening as far as projections, it's projected to have 350 to
375 million worldwide. The overseas projections is set to be 175 million. And of course,
when you look at it specifically as far as the budget, the production, the production,
budget was 110 million the previous film was a hundred million wow they only went about 10 million that's kind of crazy
isn't so um they're definitely gonna break even and way more than break even but you know objectively they're
definitely going to break even so now when you look at the cast that's where i wanted to start with
because of course nintendo currently is underway they're currently constructing what i believe is the
same lane as marvel's infinity war saga i think if they could
pull off Super Mario, no, Super Smash Bros.
Already having Sonic having successful movies, already having Mario having successful movies,
I think it's only inevitable.
It's only a matter of time before they cross over, right?
So now when you look at the upcoming Nintendo movies, you come to realize,
why is the Zelda movie messing it up, having a live action announcement of a Zelda movie?
like who would have an already successful animated marion movie
an already successful Sonic movie
and then you come to realize, hold up now
let's make the Zelda movie live action
who made that decision?
You know, I never called for anybody's job
but I just need to know who in the world made that decision
because they do not have the NCU's best interest at heart
and NCU is basically Nintendo Cinematic Universe
So the upcoming live action is the legend
the Zelda is supposed to be live action targeted for 2027 i don't know if anybody wants to see that i
kid you not like a live action what are we doing like you want to do the the super smash
bro's arc or not because the live action Zelda would not fit unless you're gonna completely
animated for the super smash bros movie but at that point why even give them more depth with the
live action to for people to fall in love with only to animate it for the crossover movie it doesn't
make any sense anyways um as far as the actual movie
I was wanting to get into what the galaxy storyline was about.
So now we're diving into spoiler territory.
So if you haven't seen the movie, bookmark this, come back, make sure to rate the five stars
and share this to somebody who you think would enjoy an honest review of a movie, you know,
from a video gamer's perspective.
So getting into my review of the movie, usually I like to do it by characters.
So the overarching story is like an overview review.
And now I'm again to the actual characters.
But as far as the story of Galaxy, I think by far and away, the Bowson storyline was the best.
As far as with his son, all the other storylines was very shortened, right?
That's why I keep saying.
This movie's not immaculent, but you would be lying to yourself if you don't think it's at least a solid watch, right?
So as far as the movie, I think when you look at Galaxy in totality, it's very much a love letter to gamers out there.
Now, I'm not saying Galaxy gamers out there.
I'm saying video gamers in general, because of course it doesn't follow the galaxy game one-to-one as far as the B.
But then you realize, Mario is a plumber that saves the princess from Bowser time and time and time again.
Y'all tell me, wouldn't have an intricate story?
Shepard, just look at the state of gaming.
I just want to know.
What is going on?
If y'all can let me know that, then I'll be very obliged to agree with you.
But Mario never had a complex story.
So for them to focus on other things outside of the beat for beat galaxy video game storyline, I'm not mad at.
So basically, introducing Yoshi, once again, we're getting into spoiler territory.
Having cameo such as Mr. Gaming Watch, which was my favorite cameo, having cameo such as Star Fox, I believe it was his name, having cameos such as, I forget what the dragon was.
I think that was also from Super Smash Bros.
but basically the way they worked in the central part because i have a whole list of notes i was
really just going off the top right there i forgot i wrote down a whole like i have a whole list of
notes for this so oh yeah okay so basically there's this thing called the gateway galaxy and that's the
main pinpoint uh i wanted that's the thing that's the thing i wanted to pinpoint throughout this
review i think that's going to be the way that uh super smash rose comes together now i know the leader
or the creator came out and basically said they're not going to make a super smash bros type of movie because they don't want them a crossover i highly doubt that i don't believe
that they will look at the monetary value of a movie like mario and a movie like sonic and think how can we want up this and not ever think of super smash bros like i just don't
unless you want to continue to make solo films for mario and sonic which i want to be mad at an ultimate super smash bros movie
definitely has to happen and if it doesn't
It's going to be a missed out opportunity.
Not only for them and revenue-wise, but quality-wise for the audience.
It's really a win-win situation.
It's not like we're asking for the world here.
So anyways, and I think it's pretty straightforward,
especially when they introduce the Gateway Galaxy and have crossovers like Mr. Game and Watch from Super Smash Bros.
Have people like Star Fox from his own movies, from his own video games, right?
It's very apparent that they've already set the foundation to have the Super Smash Bros.
movie via the gateway galaxy
so anyways getting back into the
movie the main things that i pointed out
is of course you know your boy notorious mass effect
as far as a podcast your boy analytic
dreams quickly um
noticed that the hypnotized
be foretoed as far as
uh what he was doing like his basically
basically his flashback and why he ended up
in that tube in the movie right
i thought that was a great reference and of course i'm a little
biased when it comes to that but and then of course
when you have um
oh yeah i have a lot of different
notes on here. I'm not going to say all of them.
The Rob Cameo. I thought that was pretty solid.
I like the joke. It kind of reminded me of
Zootopia's a
DMV joke as far as the
slow-moving slots doing the DMV
stuff. I thought that was very interesting.
The Pickman cameo, I think a lot of people
are very huge
super fans of Picman.
Not really me.
I was like, it's cool.
Mr. Gaming Watch was really my favorite
cameo. And then you have
the retro gaming throwback with
happened during the Mario and Peach sequence when they was getting through the castle to get to
Rosalia, which is like Peach's older sister or something like that. So that's why I say that's my
overview, because those are the things that stood out to me. The Star Fox thing was cool.
Yoshi was cool. I think the biggest outlier was Bowser's performance and of course the ending
sequence as far as the fight between Mario, Luigi Bowser, and, you know, and, you know,
and Bowser Jr., especially the cameos that they brought in.
So that's the overview.
Getting into the specific characters, of course you have,
I kept calling him Star Fox.
I guess it's just Fox McLeod.
So now that's probably the most highlighted cameo,
because not only did Nintendo spoil that before the movie actually came out,
had me thinking that another popular cameo was going to come,
which technically is Pickman more popular than Fox Cloud?
I don't think so.
Anyways, I don't know why they spoil it like that.
Like, why spoil it for people who are going to watch a movie in regards?
You know people are going to go out to watch Mario regardless because the last movie had the biggest revenue ever for a video game adaptation.
So now you spoil something that could have been a huge outlier as far as a cameo.
And since we already know it's coming, we just assume that's going to be part of the movie.
So it's not as, you know, it's not as much an exciting factor.
So Fox was cool.
I like this character throughout the movie.
I thought what he was doing was very needed, especially for the space travel segments.
But besides that, I mean, it was a cool character to have around.
have Mario you know what I'm saying it's not like Mario needs all the help in the world I was
looking for a different obscure characters from Super Smash Bros not somebody that can actually
carry the own movie as far as Fox but I'm not mad at it so I thought that was just solid
Mario um they really showcase how he is very capable of a lot of different things especially
in the fighting sequences uh the different power-ups being very familiar with that because
I think of the first movie that's why I was hesitant on saying that
the movie was good as far as the original Mario movie because I think he had to get used to the
power-ups and things that nature and I'm not familiar on the original story too much but I believe
I remember watching it but it was a while ago um I mean to be exactly it was three years ago so
I think when it comes to that they were like just regular plumbers literally and then they learned
the power-ups to me that didn't make any sense but the second half of that movie it made up for it
and then this movie definitely makes up for it because the whole movie you have them using
different power-ups and being familiar with it it's not like oh what is it
this do and they turn it to a frog oh what does this do and they turn to fireman like it was very
super mario bros esk as far as what we want to see as far as a video game adaptation really using
power apps like they already know what it does so i thought that was great um rosalia i think she probably
had like what 10 20 minutes in the movie tops very uh you know limited character as far as limited
character use she wasn't in the story often when she was in the story just set up for a peach
to save her and you know you're saving a princess you know
Keeping the main story, the main thing as far as from the video game adaptation.
I don't see why people are so upset that it didn't follow Galaxy 1 v1 because,
one by one, because, of course, when you look at the overarching story, Mario's saving the princess.
So, yeah, Rosalia was being saved, Mario Luigi, and Peach,
but as a character, it wasn't really a lot of screen talent,
but I did like when she was on screen.
Shout to Brea Larson, you know what I'm saying?
As a Marvel connoisseur, there needs to be somebody out there that praises Brea Larson in this industry,
because you would think every Marvel fan hates women
the way they treated Brea Larson's character
as far as Captain Marvel.
So just note, over here, you know what I mean?
We respect your Captain Marvel character,
and I thought it would have been a great addition.
I thought you were pretty solid.
I even liked the Marvel's movie.
So anyways, let's keep going.
When it comes to Toad,
Toad's pretty cool.
I wasn't that bad.
Toad's not like, you know, he's just a side character.
You know, he's just solid.
It wasn't bad.
It wasn't great.
It was just, you know, he was there.
Yoshi, I thought Yoshi was a great addition.
definitely really made the Mario Bros. O.P.
Because it was already doing pretty good on the own.
And then when they picked up Yoshi, I mean, he was a great addition.
It really helped him out a lot.
And that is why I like the whole edition of Bousa Jr.
Because I do believe Yoshi really up, like, it really made them Opey, honestly.
Because Mario and Luigi could have handled a lot on the own.
But with Tote, I said Tote, with Yoshi, it made it even easier to handle certain situations.
So I thought he was a great addition.
Then we have, I don't know who that is.
then we have Princess Peach.
So I like,
I think Princess Peach is another standout.
I'll probably say she's up there with Bowser
as far as the evolution of her character
versus the video games.
Obviously, in a video game,
she was very much a damsel in distress.
In the movie,
she carries her own weight as far as power, right?
To the point where Rosalia and Peach
could tip the scale in a way that makes it hard
the right. So with Rosalia being in prison for most of this story, it made it more plausible that
they would be struggling. It ain't struggled too much, but they would be struggling against the opposition.
But when it came to Peach, she was very much a powerhouse. I mean, when she fought the whole
casino in that scene, I thought to myself, wow, I mean, she's doing Superman-like actions
throughout the whole casino. This right here, Analytic Dreams video on Spotify to see the video along with
audio. This scene right here made me believe that I mean Peach is basically the Wonder Woman of their
universe. There's really nothing that should take Peach out after seeing that type of scene. I mean,
she was fighting off an infinite amount of enemies and you would think she would have got overwhelmed
but she literally took everybody out. So I think Princess Peach got the biggest upgrade as far as
from video games to the movies and honestly I think it was a great addition. Now getting it to
Bowser, Bowser, I believe, is the standout not only because of Jack Bull
black performance but you could see him struggling as far as his character art from villain to
anti-hero to back to villain because he was never like a real hero like he's basically like oh
bario just let me free i promise i'll make it up to you and even though he was like in prison by
the bee queen which i feel like that was like a martin lawrence reference like was they trying to
reference life with martin lawrence and um eddie murphy when he was in the yard but anyways
It's, Bowser, of course, got saved from the slave field by Bowser Jr.
And basically, his arc from going from anti-hero to back the villain, I thought was very believable.
And it made you, you know, feel for the father and son until you realize that they didn't really have any plan over, like, besides just destroying the whole universe.
So it was pretty straightforward villain.
We just destroy everything.
Why?
Just because, you know what I'm saying?
So, you know, it wasn't really the greatest motive.
So it cut short the whole, oh, I feel bad for you.
but it was a pretty cool evolution between Bowser Jr. and Bowser.
So getting in, uh, transitioning from there, from them going into Luigi.
I think, oh, Issa Ray was a honey queen? Hold on now.
I had no idea.
Shepard.
All right. Let me get back focus.
So Charlie Day, um, he was Luigi.
Why does Charlie Day sound familiar? What was he in? Is he in the boys?
Am I tripping?
What was Charlie Day known for?
Charlie Day. Um, I don't see what he's, I don't see what he's, I don't see.
I don't know why his name's so familiar.
Anyways, Charlie Day, so he's Luigi.
I know what y'all probably said.
Oh, he was in this, he was in that.
Sorry, I'm not the biggest movie TV show connoisseur.
So when you look at Charlie Day's performance as far as Luigi,
I thought he was depicted the best, especially being a player two to Mario.
Like, y'all already know that huge, iconic culture shifting video.
And, you know, I don't curse on this podcast.
But, you know, this is definitely one of those exceptions.
As Hot Damn I Rock, he had this specific video, which is one of the greatest videos I've ever seen on YouTube.
And you may think I'm exaggerating until you actually watch it.
Literally, this is one of the founding fathers of comedy on YouTube.
I'm not going to cap to you.
Like, any black entertainer on the internet had some type of Hot Damn I Rock video come across their channel.
So anyways, the reason why I say that in this Mario review is because he made a Mario,
video that was fantastic
so I think it was right here
superintend about the way shit was
yeah right here right here
I think it's hero crap
and Mario what the fuck is
okay hold on
okay so this way we're the video
I want to start when the video
actually starts okay here we go
alright so here's the goat
doing what he does doing goat things
I think he took down the original version
but here you go here's like a re-upload or whatever
once again analytic dreams video
on Spotify to see the video along with the audio
but this is how the dynamic
between Luigi and Mario felt.
Very different.
Hey, Emma, suit up.
Princess in trouble, we gotta go.
I heard.
What did you mean you heard?
How'd you hear?
She called me?
She called you.
Mm-hmm.
Mind you, this is before any of the black,
big influences that you look up to,
but before they even got popping.
How I'm rock was the epitome,
the foundation of black influencer comedy on YouTube.
I'm a staying about that.
So anyways, let's keep going.
Peach.
with you.
Yeah.
Okay, and what did you do?
Bam it, Marry.
What the fuck is wrong with you?
Why would you hang up on her?
Ain't shit wrong with me.
What's wrong with her?
Because I ain't never seen a bitch
keep getting kidnapped by the same nigga.
All right, so with that being said,
I wanted to get to the end of it
because the player two is hilarious.
Player two asses.
This rant is top here.
I'm not going to lie.
One of the craziest ranns I've ever seen
as far as in the sketch comedy lane.
I'm done.
You know what?
Fuck it.
I go without without, yeah, without, nigger, you need me.
Super Mario, nigger!
Brothers, Super Mario brothers, bitch!
At least that's what we used to be.
I don't know who the fuck you are no more.
You wanna know who I am?
I'm the nigga that you ain't good enough to be.
You ain't nothing but a player two ass niggia,
Looidge.
Hold on now.
That's it.
That's all you are.
That's all you ever gonna be.
Play a what?
When you die, that's how niggas gonna remember you.
Player fucking two.
Shepard, just look at the state of gaming.
Like, what is going on?
Ladies and gentlemen, that's how I felt about this movie.
Luigi was definitely the epitome of a player two type character.
And guess what?
I wasn't mad at it.
Really let Mario shine in his parts and definitely took up for the other parts.
But Mario, you know, needed some help.
But, you know, he was definitely a player two.
But the dynamic was unquestionably fantastic, in my opinion.
So at the end of the day, getting back into my overview, again,
back into my overall review of the movie.
It's not like Super Mario Bros. Galaxy is an immaculate movie by any stretch of the imagination.
But as far as the critics, you know, the movie critics, it's not as bad as they would
want you to believe, right?
It's somewhere in the middle.
I would say personally, I would give it because, you know, I would say I'm a little biased
because, you know, I always say that Mario is the savior of gaming and I always broke that
down while.
You know, back in the 1980s, I'm not going to give you the whole spill.
Basically, in the 1980s, everybody was hating on gaming, right?
Atari was putting out trash games left and right.
And then Nintendo came out with the seal of quality or whatever.
And one of the first games they ever had was the plumber that completely innovated
the platform mechanics and video game history.
So anyways, that's the shortened version, right?
Ball, after that shortened version, you know, on my banner, I had Mario right there
right next to Shepard and Fortnite.
You know, those are the characters I have that represents the video game landscape as far as notoriously
affected the masses.
So that's why I have Mario or it's, it's one of the ones.
one of the main reasons why I have a hold Mario in such high regard because he really is
one of the backbones of video game culture.
So anyways, when it comes to the movie, I think it's a solid movie.
If I was to give a personal review, personally, I would give it.
I would give it a 7 out of 10.
I know what you're saying.
After all that, hey, I'm just saying it's not trashed like the critics are trying to make
it out the scene, but it's definitely not like a fantastic movie.
Like I saw it, I enjoyed it.
The critics want you to think it's just not worth.
watching at all. Like they're trying to think they're trying to tell you like it's what
tic-tok brains or whatever like it's not that bad my brother my sister it's not that bad um
it's a solid watch is it one of the greatest movies ever of course not but you know at this
point I'm just repeating myself so at the end of day click my link share in my bio let me know
in one of my social medias what do you think about Mario the super Mario galaxy movie and of course
along with they having a huge box office open week uh opening week well you go see it and if you
did what was your favorite scene
in the entire Super Mario Galaxy movie.
